About the Owner

We are a family of four who enjoy holidays in the sun with a variety of activities nearby to keep us all entertained ! Given that we live in West Yorkshire, where a summer wardrobe is not really necessary, we have been looking for a holiday home with a warm climate and something for us all to enjoy. We are delighted to have just bought Villa Carlota and find it has everything we wanted and more! Come to Competa and try it, you may find us - lounging by the pool in the sun reading a book & lighting the BBQ (my husbands choice) eating out (my choice) trekking out on a horse in the National Park (my youngest daughters choice) or shopping and enjoying water sports in Nerja (my teenage daughters choice).

PERFECT HOUSE FOR 2 FAMILIES

  • 5 of 5

Villa Competa is a perfect house for a holiday for 2 families. The house is beautifully situated in the mountains, with a short distance to Competa, the beach, Frigiliana and Malaga. There is an excellent kitchen with all the equipment you could ask for, and also a lovely pool in the garden. We can recommend the winery (Bentomiz) nearby, and not to forget Alhambra of Granada. My family and I had a fantastic holiday in October, and would love to come back at some time.

Magic, just magic.

  • 5 of 5

From the off, dealing with Liz was professionalism at its best.

Arriving to the meeting point and later the house, greeted by Christine and Malcolm was hospitality at its best.

The villa is so beautiful and the surrounding scenery is so breathtaking that it actually took me a few days to really acknowledge it. Not that I'm complaining or anything. ;)

The kids were going mental all the day long every day in the big sized pool while my misses and I were looking at each other with a silly smile on our faces thinking; it really doesn't get any better than this.

Worth mentioning also is the national park bordering just off the villa. Making a right on the first road when leaving the villa (instead of a left for the main road) and walking a few hundred meters, you will encounter the wilderness. The only thing you can hear is the river Torrox floating further down the valley accompanied with incredible views of the majestic Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama mountains. Simply unbeatable.

What a place and what a stay to remember!

Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I spent a week in the villa in June 2016. The house is absolutely lovely, and has everything you need. The location is superb, views from the terrace and swimming pool are astounding. The location of the villa make is an excellent spot to visit the surrounding area, including Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, the coast line ...

Owner Liz is very helpful and responsive, as are house managers Christine and Malcolm who gave us a very warm welcome.

An absolute recommendation

A beautiful villa in a spectacular location with stunning views over the natural park

  • 5 of 5

Very nicely presented, tastefully decorated, very well equipped, comfortable, immaculately clean with a lovely pool (the heater was greatly appreciated). The villa sits in the middle of the natural park surrounded by mountains and trees affording some spectacular views and wonderful walks along well established trails that are not too challenging. Neither the villa, patio or pool are overlooked and it is a really peaceful retreat for an absolute chill out. A car is essential for trips into town but we seldom used it ! We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely book a return visit. Thanks to the owner and her local team for a truly wonderful stay.

Perfect.

  • 5 of 5

A top-quality property with beautiful mountain views and everything a family could need for an enjoyable holiday. A few degrees cooler and refreshingly isolated from the crowded, scorching coast that is only half an hours drive away. The perfect spot to enjoy mountains and sea. We're planning on moving in. (Please don't tell the owners.)

Home comforts in the sun

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Villa Carlota for 10 nights as a group of 7 and found it to have all the comforts of home and large enough so that we didn't feel on top of one another. The communication with Liz before and after was brilliant and I wouldn't hesitate to recomend this Villa to anyone looking for a completely relaxing holiday away from it all but within a short drive of Competa with its many bars and restaurants.

Location

From the Owner

Villa Carlota is different to the other properties we have stayed in or looked at in Competa it has a comfortable and unique feel about it with the bedroom in the tower ! We love the fact that it is only 3 hours on a plane to get to a brilliant climate and that the Villa is within an hours drive of Malaga airport. We find the privacy of the Villa relaxing but with easy access to the village with all its facilities and the sea which we love.
