Winter or high Summer, sun, snow, wind or rain, whatever the weather, you can have a great break at Drayton Cottage.

Let your car gather dust in the drive of 1 Drayton Cottage, in lovely Bembridge on the Isle of Wight and relax.

You can walk to the beaches in less than 15 minutes, you can easily stroll to a pub, cafe or restaurant in less than 5 minutes, or you can stay right at home and enjoy the gorgeous, quiet, sunny garden with comfy outdoor couches, barbie, dining table and chairs.

If the weather is blustery, enjoy a bracing coastal walk, followed by a relaxing soak in the bath and chill with a glass of wine and a good book in the cosy sitting room. There is a smart tv and wifi to catch up on emails. A wireless speaker for your iTunes and a lamp which charges your phone in case you leave home without a charger.

In the kitchen you'll find all you need to cook a great meal, and there is a washing machine so you don't have to go home with dirty clothes. In the ground floor bathroom there are a range of toiletries for your use, and in the dining room you will find a drayton cottage cotton bag for your shopping. Please take it home as a thank you for staying with us.

About the Owner

We live in Rutland, about as far from the sea as you could possibly be, but we have never lost the dream of having a home where we could walk the dogs along the sand every morning. When our daughter started teaching on the island, we knew this was where we could have such a home and we love it.

Great location. Easy walk to the sea and short walk out to the countryside. Shops really close. Nice garden with a strong turf bbq and furniture. Bus stops at the end of the road. Easy way to get about. All in all a great place to stay.

Superb.....

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely cottage, we (my wife and two dogs) enjoyed it so much we stayed for an extra 4 days. I know the IOW quite well and chose Bembridge as its probably the best coastal village on the Island. I chose this cottage because it's quietly located just off the High Street with some nice independant shops, restaurants and bars literally within a minute or two walk. I had one of my most memorable meals at Lockslane, check it out. The beach is a 10/15 minutes walk. The cottage is nicely decorated and furnished and was very very clean and very bright. There's also a nice enclosed sunny garden with modern garden furniture. We will definetly be back. Tim Pearse

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The house was absolutely fantastic, so peaceful and quiet. The village is an ideal location to explore the island, Bembridge harbour is so picturesque and the cafés and pubs are so friendly and welcoming. The property is so quaint and tasteful we didn't want to leave. Everything you could ask for, and within walking distance, from the beach only a short walk away, to great food and the friendliest pub in the world. Live music in the pub by Bembridge harbour and you're never more than an hour from anywhere! We hope to move there in the future and this place is our favourite on the island, whether you like boats, walking or socialising this is the place for you!

The house was spotless, so we'll decorated and everything you could wish for, from guides to the island to board games for the evening! TV and Internet for the kids, you know when a place is a winner when it kept both 18 year olds happy and occupied all the time, with no complaints. Even the dog loved it, just a shame we couldn't stay longer.

From the Needles Park, Cowes, Newport, Ryde, St.Helen's, Sandown, and Shanklin, always somewhere to go and something to see. Shopping at Oasis, Chillies at the chilli farm, Amazon world, and for the younger end Blackgang and Robin Hill, all great and never a dull moment. The bank holiday scooter rally was fantastic to watch, such a shame we couldn't stay for the music festival!

With history, theme parks, beaches, seaside all within such a small place what more could you want, I would recommend Ryde and a trip on the hovercraft and the whole place is spotless.

Pretty cottage in great location

  • 4 of 5

The whole family were very happy, close to several beaches and spoilt for choice with trips ( we liked Dinosaur Isle, Rocket/ Needles military base, Zoo, Alpaca farm. The cottage is comfy and secure, good food and some wonderful walking routes. The shower ceiling is low, my partner is tall & couldn't stand up in there, but fine for kids and me. Things we particularly liked about cottage was the peaceful location, decor, garden+bbq, wifi and outdoors hose for dog.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review we are very pleased that you enjoyed the island and staying at our cottage. It is good to know that you found it comfy, well decorated and in a good location. Being an old cottage the bathroom ceiling is low in parts and we plan to reconfigure the shower to offer greater shower height very soon, so we hope you will come back and see us again.

Well maintained house, nice garden, ideally situated in the village.

  • 4 of 5

Well presented clean house. We found the stairgate awkward and unnecessary and removed it. The owners information booklet was good. The location is perfect for walks from the house, no need to use the car, the bus service was excellent. Bembridge is a lovely village.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to write your kind review. We appreciate it and are very pleased that you enjoyed the cottage and lovely Bembridge. The stair gate is really for families with young children and dog owners, so yes it was perfectly OK to remove it, if you didn't need it. You are very welcome to come back and stay at the cottage another time.

Lovely cottage in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a lovely place to call home for 5 nights. We stayed as a family of 3 adults and a small child and you could see lots of care had been taken both in the property's appearance but also the smaller touches that are often missed out. Like a high-chair for our daughter, the bbq, the tea, coffee, oil etc you always feel you need to buy in-case they arent already there (+ the wine for the adults!) All-in-all it really was a lovely holiday away. Bembridge is a lovely place too since its quieter than some of the other touristy places on the Isle of Wight and it had a very close-knit family feel to the place.

We would highly recommend this property, the pictures, dont fully do it justice and Marion was quick to answer any queries I had - particularly as this was our first time away with our young daughter, which was very helpful and reassuring!

Location

From the Owner

Drayton cottage allows you to relax as soon as you get there. By being able to leave the car in the drive and start walking or cycling everywhere you notice all the small details of the countryside you are blinded to by the speed of driving.

Activity and Interests

It's a dogs life, here on the island where dogs are allowed on the beaches at Bembridge, St Helens, Seagrove and Spring Vale Ryde, and have restricted access to over 20 more.

Do make time to visit the farmers market on a friday morning in Newport - super gluten free baking is available.

If you enjoy a rummage visit the flea market/car boot on The Green at St Helen's on a Sunday morning. Walkable from Bembridge, but go early to catch a bargain.

Facilities

From the Owner

The garden is such a private little sun trap, we often spend days just walking along the coast and returning home to read in the garden, getting active only when it's bbq time!
