Romantic Break away for Autumn, family & dog friendly cottage, off road parking

Updated: 23-Oct-2016
3 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 shower room

November Cottage is a privately owned self-catering detached cottage dating back to the 17th Century.

Recently renovated to a very high standard with slate flagstones in the bespoke kitchen/diner and solid oak flooring throughout the living area. The Cottage is situated near the village of St Kew just off the St. Kew Highway. In close proximity to the town of Wadebridge, Camelford, the harbours at Padstow, Port Isaac, trendy Rock Tintagel, Boscastle and Cornwall's surfers paradise at Polzeath. The village is only a short distance from the breathtaking North Cornwall coastline with its towering cliffs, hidden coves, secluded bays and wide sandy beaches and of course the outstanding natural beauty of the countryside. The motto ' Seven Bays for seven days' resonates in the community and visits can be made to the beaches and bays within your stay here.

The ' Red Lion' village pub/restaurant is opposite, and the famous "Aunt Avice's' Pastie shop , a fish and chip shop, convenience store, doctors surgery are within short walking distance of the cottage. Golf courses including St Kew , St Enodoc and Trevose are also within a short drive from the property.

As you enter the cottage via the porch you are led into the main living area with the central feature being the newly fitted wood burning stove complimented by the solid oak floor. Providing a cosy and homely feel is the large corner sofa in addition providing extra seating are two modern reading chairs. There is a digital television with freeview included and DVD player for visitors use. The room has been dressed with solid oak units and coffee table. Leading from the lounge you access the large open plan kitchen dining room, with beautiful slate flagstone flooring, butler sink and dresser unit. At the far end of the room is a dining table, which seats six and the addition of a pine highchair for our young guests. The kitchen provides everything and family would require in the form of dishwasher, integrated fridge and freezer, electric hob and oven, microwave, four slice toaster kettle and a selection of crockery.

At the back of the kitchen there is an additional door that leads you through to another passageway, this provides you access to the garden and the downstairs toilet and a separate utility room is located in this area. The utility room also referred to as the "washroom" is a very good size with additional storage space, butler sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and a good size power shower.

The bedrooms are all of good size and provide adequate sleeping for 6 adults with the addition of two travel cots for our younger visitors. All towels and linen including the cot are provided (however it is requested they are not used for outside the property.)

The oak stairs lead from the lounge to the upper landing where to you find a double bedroom with solid oak bedside units, free standing unit and arm chair and separate walk in wardrobe. Next to this room is a twin bedroom with dressing table and chairs. Opposite the large family bathroom comprising of a large and deep bath, toilet and sink there is an additional double bedroom, which has a large antique wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside cabinets.

Externally there are solid wooden double gates which open onto a gravel drive allowing access for easily 3 vehicles to park.

The garden is secured by fencing and has been lovingly named "The Secret Garden" by our children as it is naturally split into two halves by a large tree from which a single swing hangs. The "Secret Garden" is located at the far end of the garden where there is a home build slate bench and a good size lawn area. The upper lawn area again of good size near to the house has a rambling country border of plants and shrubs, this leads onto a large patio area where you can soak up the sun on the rattan garden furniture whist enjoying a BBQ cooked on the built in BBQ area. This patio area also allows access back into the lounge area of the house via a stable door.

The property is only 20 minutes drive from Newquay airport.

Restaurants and quaint pubs are situated in the Hamlets of St Mabyn, Chapel Amble and St Kew.

For the more adventurous a cycle ride from Padstow to Wadebridge along the Camel trail is an opportunity not to miss. Child friendly with places to rest and recuperate on route.

Bodmin and its moor is also close by for those who prefer country walks and rambling.

Other places of interest include the Eden Project, Tintagel Castle, National Lobster Sanctuary and Farm and Birds of prey centres.

A number of michelin star Chef's including Nathan Outlaw have restaurants and bars in this area. Rick Stein has a number of premises in and around Padstow located near the working harbour.

The property is a must see and must stay for those wishing for a great stay in Cornwall at any time of the year.

About the Owner

Hello, thank you for taking the time to view November Cottage. To give you some background "The Bennett Family" are actually Michelle and Tony and our three children Ashleigh, Danielle and Anthony. We are a busy family of five who love being outside and Cornwall hits the spot for us every time! With our children ages ranging from 7 to 17 years old we have to find things that everyone can do. We currently live in Essex whilst our children complete their education however who knows where we may end up once they have grown up and flown the nest.

Very convenient location

  • 4 of 5

This property was exactly as described on the site. Although on this occasion it was only me and my mother it would be plenty big enough for a family and has a delightful garden which we did not use. It is well placed for our visits to family in Port Isaac and St Austell as well as our shopping trips to Wadebridge and Truro.

The wifi worked very well which is helpful as phone coverage is very limited in the area. The power shower downstairs is fantastic!

We enjoyed the fish and chips from the shop opposite and bought pasties from Aunt Avice's to take home.

I would definitely stay here again when visiting relatives

Beautiful cottage, it's like home to home.

Lots of perks, dishwasher, washing machine, tumblr dryer, WIFI. The sofa and beds are comfortable. The shower is a power shower!! 👍𣐽򐈀 one extra special perk for us was dogs are welcome!

Location is perfect! You are approximately 15-45 mins away from all beaches around Cornwall and all the amazing attractions.

The cottage is directly opposite a beautiful pub with great staff, food, and atmosphere!

Highly highly recommend!!

Impressive Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Impressive cottage with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Great base from which to visit Cornwall's many attractions. Having visited Cornwall a number of times we are still finding new things to do and see. Lots of nice places to eat locally if you don't want to cook.

Love this Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed many times in November Cottage over the years and really enjoyed our week in August 16. The new owners have added more bedroom furniture so there is more storage and the new wood burner looks great ,thankfully didn't use it in August! Michelle the owner was very quick to answer any questions. The cottage is spacious and well equipped it's like home from home. The Red Lion over the road is very welcoming and has top quality food at a reasonable price. Polzeath beach is just down the road and Avices pasties is on your doorstep. Amazing chilled out family holiday will come again. Lewis Family

Home from home

A very delayed review but I wanted to express our huge thanks to Michelle and Tony for allowing us to stay in the beautiful November Cottage last October. The perfect place to stay ahead of us running the Eden Project Half Marathon last year. November Cottage was everything we could have wished for and more. We received a very warm welcome and the added suprise of a good luck card. Although we explored the surrounding areas we couldn't wait to get back to the relaxing, homely environment that November Cottage exudes (that and the lure of the open fire!) We had the best week away with glorious weather and everything that we could possibly need. We dined in the Red Lion too and can only compliment the owners on their delicious menu. I would certainly say don't think twice about booking this cottage and you will certainly want to return again. Thanks Michelle and Tony and I'm sorry for not writing my review sooner.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review we hope you managed to raise plenty of money for your charity one that is close to our hearts too. Since you stayed we have added a wood stove to make those cosy evenings even easier to enjoy. We really hope you come back and stay again, it was our pleasure to have you and help support such a worthy cause.

From the Owner

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!! We began our search for a family holiday home after having spent a Christmas in Cornwall. We all instantly fell in love with the area and what it offered us as a family. We viewed many properties and spent days driving around Cornwall, just when we thought we would never find our ideal property we stumble upon November Cottage, and it really was the last viewing of the day! From the moment we entered the cottage we were hooked, they say when you are viewing properties you "just know" well that was very much how it was for us. We could see our family using and making memories there. In addition to the spacious living room, kitchen and 3 double bedrooms we viewed the house on a sunny day, the patio and BBQ area added additional fuel to our love for the place. Once we had removed our personal feelings for cottage we viewed it from a practical aspect, were we near enough to amenities? And there again the property hit the nail on the head, opposite a pub, fish and chip shop, Cost Cutter, doctors surgery good access to Wadebridge, Padstow and the beaches. We see November Cottage as a place where we can make memories as a family and eventually leave it to our children for them to enjoy as they grow. We also hope that other families and friends can create memories too.
