About this property

For Families, Couples, Groups & Dogs 17th Century Cottage with off road parking

November Cottage is a privately owned self-catering detached cottage dating back to the 17th Century.
Recently renovated to a very high standard with slate flagstones in the bespoke kitchen/diner and solid oak flooring throughout the living area. The Cottage is situated near the village of St Kew just off the St. Kew Highway. In close proximity to the town of Wadebridge, Camelford, the harbours at Padstow, Port Isaac, trendy Rock Tintagel, Boscastle and Cornwall's surfers paradise at Polzeath. The village is only a short distance from the breathtaking North Cornwall coastline with its towering cliffs, hidden coves, secluded bays and wide sandy beaches and of course the outstanding natural beauty of the countryside. The motto ' Seven Bays for seven days' resonates in the community and visits can be made to the beaches and bays within your stay here.
The ' Red Lion' village pub/restaurant is opposite. Golf courses including St Kew , St Enodoc and Trevose are also within a short drive from the property.
As you enter the cottage via the porch you are led into the main living area with the central feature being the newly fitted wood burning stove complimented by the solid oak floor. Providing a cosy and homely feel is the large corner sofa in addition providing extra seating are two modern reading chairs. There is a digital television with a basic Sky package and DVD player with a selection of DVDs for visitors use. The room has been dressed with solid oak units and coffee table. Leading from the lounge you access the large open plan kitchen dining room, with beautiful slate flagstone flooring, butler sink and dresser unit. At the far end of the room is a dining table, which seats six and the addition of a pine highchair for our young guests. The kitchen provides everything and family would require in the form of dishwasher, integrated fridge and freezer additional free standing fridge, electric hob and oven, microwave, four slice toaster kettle and a selection of crockery.
At the back of the kitchen there is an additional door that leads you through to another passageway, this provides you access to the garden and the downstairs toilet and a separate utility room is located in this area. The utility room also referred to as the "washroom" is a very good size with additional storage space, butler sink, washing machine, tumble dryer and a good size power shower.
The bedrooms are all of good size and provide adequate sleeping for 6 adults with the addition of two travel cots for our younger visitors. All towels and linen including the cot are provided (however it is requested they are not used for outside the property.)
The oak stairs lead from the lounge to the upper landing where to you find a double bedroom with solid oak bedside units, free standing unit and arm chair and separate walk in wardrobe. Next to this room is a twin bedroom with dressing table and chairs and antique double wardrobe. Opposite the large family bathroom comprising of a large and deep bath, toilet and sink there is master bedroom with vaulted ceiling which has a large antique wardrobe, chest of draws and bedside cabinets.
Externally there are solid wooden double gates which open onto a gravel drive allowing access for easily 3 vehicles to park.
The garden is secured by fencing and has been lovingly named "The Secret Garden" by our children as it is naturally split into two halves by a large tree from which a single swing hangs. The "Secret Garden" is located at the far end of the garden where there is a home build slate bench and a good size lawn area. The upper lawn area again of good size near to the house has a rambling country border of plants and shrubs, this leads onto a large patio area where you can soak up the sun on the rattan garden furniture whist enjoying a BBQ cooked on the built in BBQ area. This patio area also allows access back into the lounge area of the house via a stable door.
The property is only 20 minutes drive from Newquay airport.
Restaurants and quaint pubs are situated in the Hamlets of St Mabyn, Chapel Amble and St Kew.
For the more adventurous a cycle ride from Padstow to Wadebridge along the Camel trail is an opportunity not to miss. Child friendly with places to rest and recuperate on route.
Bodmin and its moor is also close by for those who prefer country walks and rambling.
Other places of interest include the Eden Project, Tintagel Castle, National Lobster Sanctuary and Farm and Birds of prey centres.
A number of Michelin star Chef's including Nathan Outlaw have restaurants and bars in this area. Rick Stein has a number of premises in and around Padstow located near the working harbour.
The property is a must see and must stay for those wishing for a great stay in Cornwall at any time of the year.

Great location for the North Coast
The cottage is clean and comfortable and in a great location, with many interesting places only short distance away. We had a problem on arrival which was swiftly dealt with, the owner getting back to us quickly when contacted. There is a lovely friendly pub just opposite serving good food, which we visited a couple of times during our stay. Although the main A road runs behind the bottom of the garden and can be noisy at times, the actual entrance is set back and has a more quiet village feel. We would certainly recommend this cottage.

Sweet cottage
We had a great stay overall - the cottage was more spacious than the photos would have you believe (very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 kids) and the kitchen was very well equipped. Sadly for some reason the property hadn't been cleaned before we'd arrived, but eventually once we got hold of the housekeeper she came round and was very apologetic. Just a point to note - the drive is extremely narrow; even if it can accommodate multiple cars, you may prefer to park on the road. The fire is a lovely addition but you need to provide your own wood, which can be bought from the garage, a short walk down the road. Overall, would highly recommend, just a shame about the cleaning at the outset.

About the host

Hello, thank you for taking the time to view November Cottage. To give you some background "The Bennett Family" are actually Michelle and Tony and our three children Ashleigh, Danielle and Anthony. We are a busy family of five who love being outside and Cornwall hits the spot for us every time! Our children have been lucky enough to enjoy the cottage for several years so we have tested the entertainment for them throughout their ages. Now we see them enjoying it as young adults with their friends and partners. We currently live in Essex whilst our youngest child completes his education however who knows where we may end up once they have grown up and flown the nest.

Why they chose this property

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!!! We began our search for a family holiday home after having spent a Christmas in Cornwall. We all instantly fell in love with the area and what it offered us as a family. We viewed many properties and spent days driving around Cornwall, just when we thought we would never find our ideal property we stumble upon November Cottage, and it really was the last viewing on the last day! From the moment we entered the cottage we were hooked, they say when you are viewing properties you "just know" well that was very much how it was for us. We could see our family using and making memories there. In addition to the spacious living room, kitchen and 3 double bedrooms we viewed the house on a sunny day, the patio and BBQ area added additional fuel to our love for the place. Once we had removed our personal feelings for cottage we viewed it from a practical aspect, were we near enough to amenities? And there again the property hit the nail on the head, opposite a pub, doctors surgery, 24 hour Spar within walking distance, good access to Wadebridge, Padstow and the beaches.
We see November Cottage as a place where we can make memories as a family and eventually leave it to our children for them to enjoy as they grow. We also hope that other families and friends can create memories there too.

What makes this property unique

The property has been sent up to feel like home from home, we have tried to provide everything a person may need from plastic cutlery and bowls for our younger guests to serving platters, champagne flutes and bucket for our adults. We pride ourselves on the quality of the linen and products within the cottage. We base our choices on what we want out of the property ourselves as a family and hope that our guests feel we have achieved that.
