This is the second time we have stayed at The Old House and it was just as magical the second time. I don't have enough superlatives to describe it- simply beautiful, steeped in history, very comfortably furnished, stunning bedrooms, fantastic service from Fred the host and right in the very heart of Shrewsbury. I cannot imagine coming to Shrewsbury and staying anywhere else. Thank you from all of us!
Great New Years getaway
For a group of 10 adults and 3 children, we struggled to find somewhere that could accommodate us as a group, not just for rooms/sleeping but also for general house space to entertain the kids.
The owner Fred met us on arrival and gave us a tour, the rooms were clean and set up as requested for the group. The house is big and clean, and the cellar bar was almost sound proof.....a great addition for us adults seeing in the New Year whilst the children slept upstairs.
This house provided us with a great weekend away and is such a good location, high street shops only a few minutes away but also very quiet.
Would definitely go again!!
A totally unique memorable house, comfortable and brilliantly situated in the centre of shrewsbury.
We contacted Fred to book the old house at the last minute for a family gathering. He and hannah gave us loads of information and so even before we arrived we had a great impression of the property. We all loved the place. It was way more spacious than we thought and perfect for our needs. Fred met us and showed us round and made us feel very relaxed in such an impressive place. We had a very comfortable stay. We all would love to come back and would recommend it to everyone.
The perfect location for a ye olde hen do
The Old House was absolutely perfect for a medieval themed hen do, with its buckets of character, location in the centre of Shrewsbury and plenty going on nearby. With big tables, warm fires, cosy seating areas and beds to sleep 12, our hen do group had a brilliant time with everyone feeling immediately at home. It also definitely had the 'wow factor', with some beautiful decorations.
We were self catered the entire weekend and that all worked well, with the big banquet table and kitchen providing everything we needed. The weekend also included a yoga session, which we were able to do in the back garden after being introduced to a yoga teacher by the owners.
The cellar bar was the icing on the cake and meant we had a brilliant night in without disturbing anyone. It's a great space and you can hook up your own music to party late into the night.
I can definitely recommend this place and would say that it is well worth the trip if you're travelling from further away. Two parking places were also included in the price, which was hugely helpful seeing as Shrewsbury is a labyrinth of lanes that aren't massively car friendly.
An excellent venue
The house was perfect for a large group. The beds were very comfortable and the owner( Fred) was both welcoming and helpful. The property is right in the centre of town so all amenities were to hand.I would not hesitate to recommend the Old House.
