Stable Loft , a Spacious Modern 1st Floor Apartment Above Working Riding Stables

Stable Loft is situated in an AONB close to the lovely rural village of Shipham. Panoramic views across fields to the Mendips from the sitting room and kitchen, and far reaching views from bedrooms and bathrooms over the Winscombe vale to Weston super Mare. It is surrounded by 10 acres of pasture, and horse riding is available on site, both lessons in our all weather arena which you can view from the living room window , and hacking our over the Mendip Hills and forests.

Ideal for all rural pursuits especially horse riding, walking, mountain biking, caving, bird watching or simply enjoying the tranquil surroundings. We are perfectly placed for touring the West Country being easily accessible to the A38 & M5, with numerous attractions within easy reach, including Cheddar Gorge & caves, Weston super Mare, Bath, Bristol, Longleat, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury & Wells just to name a few. A great place for a family holiday.

The luxury accommodation is finished to a high standard and decorated in a bright modern style, with open plan living, dining, superbly fitted kitchen complete with built in cooker and ceramic hob, and breakfast bar with 2 stools. The glass dining table seats 4 and there is a double sofa bed for extra visitors. A travel cot and an extra fold up bed are available if required. Both bedrooms are EN-SUITE, with the twin room having a large, wet room shower and the double room having a luxury fitted bathroom.

The utility room contains the central heating boiler and is fitted with a washing machine and indoor line and is ideal for drying wet clothes or coats.

There is a bright , spacious, sunny interior ,very well fitted kitchen and large, modern luxurious bathrooms. The living area has windows on three sides and the light streams in whatever time of day it is. Lovely views from all windows.

What makes this apartment unique

This small corner of Somerset is perfect in our eyes. Nestled into the foothills of the Mendips and with views of Shipham village over the fields, it feels cosy and rural at the same time. It's lovely to be able to take the 10 minute walk along the track into the village to buy a paper or fresh bread at Hansfords shop, and yet if you crave the bright lights , Weston super Mare is only a 20 min drive or Bristol a mere half hour . The best of both worlds.

If you venture uphill on foot or horseback ( recommended) you pass through Rowberrow forest where you are likely to see deer and arrive onto Blackdown, a wide expanse of open moorland and home to herds of Exmoor ponies and cattle which graze freely. From Beacon Batch, the highest point on Mendip you get panoramic views of Somerset , over the levels to Glastonbury Tor in the distance.

We have 10 acres of land so no near neighbours, and are situated on the edge of quaint Shipham Village. There are numerous footpaths & bridleways locally and wildlife abounds. You are liable to see rabbits, foxes. deer, wild ponies , owls and other birds. We have swallows nesting in our barn and they come back every year. Stable Loft is a country lovers delight.

Neds for breakfast

We spent a week, walking from our appartment which had been constructed about horse stables. The property appeared very clean and tidy on first sight but we spent nearly an hour cleaning what was really quite a dirty property. The floors in all the rooms were very dusty and were hard to clean without the aid of a vacuum cleaner and only a brush and broken dust pan. The cooking area was quite bad and took a long time to clean. Maybe our expectations are too high but we left the property much leaner than when we arrived.

It was fascinating watching the riding school operating on most days but we were not brave enough to have a go ourselves. We went walking and can recommend this place as being very central for day tripping. The local pub was very good.

Owner's Response: I was very disappointed to read your negative comments, as we always go out of our way to make a stay at our property enjoyable, as is shown by the many 5 star reviews we have received previously. I spoke to you after your first inspection and showed you around and you said the property was very nice. I also gave you my mobile phone number and said we only lived a few metres away so if there were any problems , or you needed anything, then you only had to ask. I'm sorry you found the floors to be dusty, but had you said anything we would have been only too happy to have cleaned it again. Similarly a vacuum cleaner was available on request, but we don't expect our guests to have to do much vacuuming, especially as the floors are all laminate and are better brushed rather than vacuumed.

Stable Loft

A well equipped cottage in a working stables. There is plenty of space within the cottage with a fantastic view of the arena. Both our children had the opportunity to take riding lessons, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The location is ideal with a number of family attractions and stunning landscapes within an easy drive. Highly recommended.
