About the property

Contemporary barn conversion in tranquil hamlet - boutique- hotel style decor

Tremodrett Barn is a contemporary, two-bedroom barn conversion, graded 5 star by Visit England standards. Decorated in boutique-hotel style including an oak four poster bed it provides a comfortable and stylish base for your holiday. Situated between Padstow and Fowey the estate is surrounded by fields and open countryside. Tremodrett is a tranquil, leafy hamlet yet close to the A30 main road in Cornwall, making it an ideal base for travelling around Cornwall and exploring the north and south coasts. FREE WIFI and Welcome pack provided - please see photo.

The first floor open-plan living accommodation is flooded with light and has a dramatic vaulted roof space and beams. A Juliet balcony opens onto the courtyard - perfect for a litte star-gazing! Laura Ashley sofas are complimented by a stylish oak dining table . The kitchen is equipped to a high standard with professional pans, a food processor and blender and Sophie Conran china. There is a washer-dryer. We provide cookery books by Ric Stein, Mary Berry and Nathan Outlaw in case you want a little inspiration! In the cooler months you can keep cosy by the fire (electric with real flame-effect).

Downstairs are three bedrooms ( one small one serving as a dressing room) and a contemporary bathroom. The main bedroom opens onto the courtyard, so you can pop out easily for a quiet morning coffee, and has a beautiful modern king-size oak four poster bed. We like to spoil our guests! The large second bedroom ( twin) is a dramatic room with sloping roof reaching into the eaves of the barn. Children and adults alike will love this room. Both are equipped with crisp white bed linen and goose-down duvets for the cooler months. A small library including Daphne du Maurier and Poldark books and DVDs is provided to get you in the Cornish mood.

Outside there are two garden areas - a private garden to the front receives sun throughout the day - and is decorated with palms and exotic plants which thrive in Cornwall's sunny clime. We have put in some new planting beds this spring . The slate patio has a dining table and seating for four. To the rear of the barn is a courtyard , shared with two adjacent barns, decorated with mature hydrangeas ,shrubs and a bistro table and two chairs.

The whole estate has been finished to a high standard . In the fields we caught sight of roe deer in our first week and there is a resident woodpecker. There are five other barns on the estate.

The barn is our own holiday home and equipped and furnished to a high standard, not purely as a holiday let, and we hope our guests will appreciate all our little extra touches and have a really comfortable and relaxing stay.

About Christine Fisher and Terry Gladwin

Christine and Terry live near Stratford - on Avon ( just about as land-locked as you can get!). Terry is an architect and Christine works with deprived children.

We love getting away for breaks and have been going to Cornwall for some years and love the slower pace of life, the gardens and the stunning scenery.

Why Christine Fisher and Terry Gladwin chose Roche

As soon as we saw the barn and the estate we knew this would suit us and our guests really well. The location is so peaceful yet with the main road for Cornwall so close it is easy to get around the county. We love the granite and slate used throughout the estate and the barn is delightfully quirky with a beautifully light living space.

A very enjoyable stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 2 weeks and used The Barn as basecamp for exploring Devon and Cornwall. It is conveniently located a few minutes from the A30 with easy access to Roche, Bodmin and St.Austell. It is a very quiet location accessed by a single lane road with passing points (typical of the area). Follow provided driving directions precisely.

The Barn was very clean, had modern appliances and was well appointed and served us well over the 2 weeks. The downstairs had 2 good sized bedrooms and bathroom with shower and heated towel rack. Upstairs was an opened planned room with well equipped kitchen. The roof had 5 skylights which made it bright and cheerful.

All rooms had wall mounted electric heaters which could be individually programmed. There is plenty of safe parking without fear of car getting dinged. Neighbors were very quiet. Communication and customer service was excellent.

Very pleased: hence 5 stars. Well done Christine and Terry!

Great location offering a peaceful retreat.

  • 5 of 5

So glad we choose this property for our first holiday with our little grand-daughter. The barn is thoughtfully and tastefully converted, and we really had a lovely time. It was convenient to all the attractions that we hoped to see and the hints and tips which were in the booklet were especially helpful.

Well placed, well equipped, quiet, peaceful and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The property is a good size and very comfortable and well equipped. The furnishings, bedding and towels were lovely but the property could have done with a better clean as there were spiders, webs and dead flies throughout. There was a lot of good information about things to do and see and it was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Plenty of books and dvds on offer if required too. The location is excellent for exploring all over Cornwall - we visited Charlestown on the south coast, Padstow and Newquay on the north coast and as far west as Loe Beach, Feock nr Truro/Falmouth. All in all it was a lovely holiday in a super place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback, Julia, and understanding about the issue with our relief housekeeper. We were so sorry that on this isolated occasion she did not match the high standard of our usual housekeeper. We have taken immediate steps to address concerns. We are delighted that you had a great holiday, loved our barn and will be recommending us to your friends and family.

Excellent Accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We had an enjoyable 4 night stay at Tremodrett House. It is a beautifully decorated home-away-from-home with all the amenities for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The kitchen has all the appliances and equipment that we needed for preparing meals including a large refrigerator freezer and dishwasher. The washer/dryer was very much appreciated by us as this was one stop on a two week trip and enabled us to keep our suitcases of manageable size. The location near the A30 was also convenient for seeing the many sights in beautiful Cornwall. The WiFi connection was very good as well. The owner was very responsive to our requests for information and assistance. It was a 5* experience!
