Comfortable, welcoming .........Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we walked into the house, it felt comfortable and relaxed.

The fantastic space, both inside and out made for the most relaxing two weeks we have spent in France. Lac Ferrier is by far the best property of several we have stayed in.

The house was spacious, immaculate and well equiped; and the hours spent in the grounds or relaxing in and around the pool were fantastic.

Thank you to the owner and family for letting us stay in their fantastic home....we din't want to leave, but we will be back.

A great experience from booking to being waved goodbye by M. Luc.

Can't recommend this property highly enough........Fantastic

Immaculate, spacious villa, excellent value, with gorgeous grounds and helpful owner

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely week in the villa last week. The villa is spotless (and I can be very squeamish about these things!) and the furnishings are new. It feels more like a home than a rental property - clearly the property is loved and cared for. It has all mod cons that are hard to find elsewhere, even air conditioning and a heated pool which were essential for us with a 7 month old baby. The pool is fab and the easy-to-use cover keeps it nice and clean without the need to fish bits out every morning, our baby loved it and went in every day! The barbecue was excellent and we used it several times, it is beside the pool and there is a table and chairs nearby. Loved the new bespoke table complete with 'lazy Susan'! Everything is very well thought out. The villa would be great for a big group, though we were only 5 and even only using the ground floor had more than enough space. Would highly recommend for families - there is some play equipment in the garden and loads of safe, large areas for children to run around in if needed. Even a big trampoline which of course I had to have a go on... We enjoyed the wildlife and think we saw polecats and a hoopoe, not to mention the cows with their calves in the field next door, oh and the sound of the frogs! I was concerned the pond might attract mosquitoes but this wasn't a problem at all. The grounds were lovely with some beautiful flowers. On the whole we were very impressed. The owner even sourced a high chair especially for our stay. If I'm being picky, we would have welcomed a little more info on the local area such as local places to eat (opening times etc), precise directions to the nearest super market and bakeries, and perhaps a little welcome pack of essentials (bread, milk) as we arrived later than planned and needed to get the baby to bed and in the end we went hungry as the super market was a little tricky to find and we were too late by the time we got there and nothing else was open. Partly poor planning on our part. A large kitchen knife, grater and possibly another armchair would be useful too especially for larger groups. I am only mentioning these things because in the hopes Wallyd will find the feedback useful. It is a fabulous villa and we would like to thank Wallyd for a lovely holiday. Don't hesitate to book it!

Everything made easy for us by this lovely house!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in June 2016. The setting is rural - you definitely need a car but the house has everything else you need at hand. It's fitted out to a high standard - comfortable beds (all without any foot board/bedstead at the end - important if you are over 6ft!) - amazing sized kitchen, and the house and gardens are kept to a high standard. The photos on this site are true to what is there and how the property is set up. We liked that the house is set back a bit from the road behind a mature hedge so you feel comfortable and private when outside. The pool is heated just enough that it isn't cold but is still refreshing on a hot day. Enjoyed the frog chorus from the pond every morning, watching the swifts during the day and bat-spotting at night. Overall it felt more like staying at a close friend's house than a holiday home and we'd definitely recommend it.

There are plenty of things to do between 30 mins and 1 hour away - the market at Périgueux is fun to wander round on a Weds morning and we drove to Monbazillac to look round the house and do a bit of wine tasting which was also a nice day out.

all one could want!

  • 5 of 5

For us, this was a perfect holiday house. The house is splendidly equipped, both inside and outside, with great attention to detail. The interior is spacious and light and the rooms well sized. We were especially happy to have large bathrooms with separate, large shower cubicles- this is often not the case!

The house has recently been refurbished and the fittings and furniture are new and of good quality.

The heated pool was splendid, apparently it can be used until late in the autumn. We enjoyed eating under the pergola.

The house is isolated, on the top of a ridge with views in both directions with no near neighbours and only a very quiet road. Perfect tranquillity!

Perigueux, just about 30 minutes away is a lovely town with more than its fair share of good restaurants and we went several times to eat there in the evening.

Some of the local roads are single track and a bit daunting at first, but after a day or two (and ignoring the GPS!) we soon found the best to take. There are many attractions/activities to suit the most disparate tastes near at hand.

Highly recommended!

Spacious, peaceful, rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have had a wonderful time in your beautiful home, which was clean and well maintained. It was good to have you meet us on our arrival to show us the property and its facilities. M. Luc was most helpful during our stay.

The children have really enjoyed all the space to play and we have all made good use of the pool on the hot days. The weather has been glorious and we've found it hard to leave the garden but have managed to thoroughly enjoy seeing quite a few of the major sites and have left the leaflets we've collected on our travels in your visitor folder.

This is our first visit to this region of France and it certainly won't be our last, we hope to return to your home in Blis et Born very soon.

In the meantime we wish you all many happy times at Lac Ferrier.

Spacious, modern and well-equipped villa

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The villa is beautiful and very well

equipped. When we could drag ourselves away from the pool we enjoyed:

- canoeing at Les Eyzies

- karting nearby at Le Garden karting

- a meal at the restaurant in Blis et Born

- the walking tour around Perigueux

The owners were very easy to deal with and we were welcomed by a charming caretaker. We would have no hesitation recommending this property for all age groups.

Location

From the Owner

The area and house are beautiful as you can see from the pictures, the quiet and sound of birds and frogs and the grounds are wonderfully relaxing and allow you to recharge your batteries. Our little boy of four also loves to go exploring in the grounds. We have hares and frogs in the pond and the fruit trees are magnificent.
