Set in gorgeous gardens & quiet countryside close to Mousehole and the sea

Updated: 24-Oct-2016
Quiet rural retreat, close to Penzance, ideal for beaches and SW coast path

Chyenhal Garden Cottage is bright and sunny and has been imaginatively renovated to a high standard by its artist owners. It is full of character with painted wood panelling, beams, roof lights, art and a cosy wood burner. The large windows create magical pictures of the beautiful gardens in which it is set. Approached along a picturesque bridleway there is plenty of off road parking and it is set in quiet countryside but still just minutes away from everything you need for a great holiday.

The living area is spacious; relax on the comfortable two seater sofa and enjoy the play of the flames in the wood burner or enjoy the outlook on garden and countryside. This connection with the outside is also one of the pleasures of dining by the window that looks onto the beautiful cherry tree and is bathed in the glow of the late sun at the end of the day.

The well equipped kitchen area includes ceramic hob and hood, fan oven, microwave, fridge freezer, and washing machine.

The bedroom is spacious and has a double bed, wood panelling and is filled with light and sunshine in the mornings and is warm and cosy at night. The en suite bathroom has a large shower enclosure and power shower.

Step outside the door and enjoy time in the sunny courtyard garden that is just for your use; BBQ and dine outdoors. We also have an acre and a half of garden here which we are very happy to share with our guests; feel free to stroll, relax and enjoy time in what one guest described as our "little piece of paradise".

Great little cottage

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was very well fitted out, the kitchen was good and the shower was excellent. Bern and Claire were charming and helpful hosts and the little maze of grassy paths through the large garden delighted our dog. The nearest pub was in the neighbouring village of Paul and could be walked along the bridle paths in 30 minutes (muddy in places) or 25 minutes along the lanes. Mousehole, Porthleven, Sennan Cove and St Ives are all well worth visiting. Nearest Supermarket was Lidl, about 10 minutes away.

Perfect Peaceful Bolt Hole

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was just the perfect place for my husband and I to relax and unwind. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, as did our little dog Fudge. The owners, Bern and Claire have thought of everything. You cannot help but relax here and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Especially loved lighting the wood burning stove in the evenings and cosying up with a bottle of wine.

Even though the cottage is in a very quiet countryside setting it was only about a 5 minute car journey into beautiful Mousehole or can be walked in half an hour. 3 supermarkets within 20 minute drive and many other beautiful places to visit close by. We thoroughly recommend this little place and will be back again

We can honestly say that this is the most beautiful and most comfortable accommodation we have ever stayed in and we will definitely be returning. The garden setting is gorgeous and the framed views of the garden from the cottage are lovely. Bern and Claire were so friendly, helpful and welcoming - and their art which features through out the cottage is outstanding. We loved everything!

The location is great and easy to find.

Wow! and Thank you!

Chyenhal Garden Cottage is situated on the Cornish Penwith Peninsula in beautiful countryside. Nine miles from Lands End it is just minutes away from Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole situated on stunning Mounts Bay. Step out of the door and walk from here along bridleways and through fields to the picturesque fishing harbour of Mousehole with its beach, restaurants and old world Ship Inn. It is here that you can join the South West Coast Path which affords some of the best coastal walking to be had anywhere.

Penzance itself is an attractive town with promenade, listed Lido and harbour, shops, restaurants, pubs and galleries. Explore Chapel St, see the Egyptian House and try great pubs like The Turks Head and Admiral Benbow [look out for bandits on the roof!]. Sea trips to look at the abundant wild life of the bay and coast on the sailing catamaran Marine Discovery are are highly recommended; this years highlights include huge numbers of dolphin and porpoise, an enormous shoal of Blue Fin Tuna and a Humpback Whale! The bay offers great sailing, kite surfing and sailboarding.

Newlyn is still a working harbour and is the place to go for all kinds of fish fresh from the boats. As well as the harbour and fish market there are restaurants, pubs and the historic Newlyn Art Gallery.
