Overview

About the property

Godre Berwyn is a charming character cottage, privately situated on a quiet lane in the centre of Llangollen. The restaurants, shops, river and activities are minutes away on foot so no need to drive.

Uniquely for Llangollen, the cottage has private parking for 1 car additional parking 100 yards away.

The cottage has been in our family for many years and has recently undergone a complete refurbishment inside and out.

Believed to have been built in the mid 1600's, the cottage boasts a wealth of exposed beams and some exposed stonework, which along with the thick walls and uneven floors add some unique features. The sitting/dining room has a wood burning stove to make the cottage even cosier in the cooler months.

On the ground floor is a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting /dining room and a small double bedroom complete with ensuite shower room. This room would also be suitable for guests with mobility issues.

Stairs lead to a landing with many exposed beams (the stairs are a little steep) There is a large double bedroom and 2 good sized singles, along with a small newly refurbished family bathroom.

At the rear of the property is a walled Mediterranean style courtyard, with seating, lighting and a BBQ.

Llangollen has much to do and see-for the more active there is white water rafting, climbing canoeing, golf and walking from the front gate, with mountain biking a short drive away.Families will enjoy the canal boat and steam train rides as well as the riverside park.

There is no need for a car,as all the activities, cafes bars and restaurants are all a short walk away,as are a great range of butchers, bakers, greengrocers, delis and covenience stores which are open 'til late.

A welcome pack is provided and for stays of 1 week or more a complimentary bottle of wine.

All bedding and Towels are included

Guestbook comments from the owner

You will receive a lovely welcome at Godre Berwyn. The owners have probably thought of everything you need for a stay in a holiday cottage - the kitchen is well equipped and with little things that you sometimes forget but need... including tinfoil, condiments, sauces; we were even left a generous welcome pack of bread, butter, eggs, cheese, fruit juice, cake, fruit and milk for our arrival. There was also a plentiful supply of teas, coffees and sugar. Llangollen is in a beautiful area that you can travel around, but at the same time the cottage is in the town itself, so you could park the car and leave it there for your stay. We did a bit of both. Lovely walks along the canal and river - the family enjoyed fishing especially. There are numerous places in the town to eat out, both cafes and restaurants. Our favourite was the Corn Mill, lovely food on every occasion we ate there. There are several convenience shops open late and in easy walking distance of the cottage, but also lovely small independant shops for meat, fruit and veg etc

Thank you for a lovely stay

Little Gem!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful cottage with loads of character, sloping floors and quirky rooms. Everything in it that you would have at home. Lovely and warm and plenty of space. Having a bedroom and shower room downstairs was a real bonus and it was such a pretty room too with a very comfortable bed.

Only one very small minus point was that the settees, although very comfortable, were very low, so if you are getting on in years or less able bodied, they were a real struggle to get out of.

Thank you for a lovely stay. Will definitely recommend to others, especially as its dog friendly too.

Delightful, quirky cottage

  • 5 of 5

We loved it. A well equipped and cosy cottage close to all the amenities of Llangollen. A lovely welcome hamper awaited us and it was a perfect base for our weekend . We'll be back.

Cosy cottage in central Llangollen

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Godre Berwyn. The cottage was nice and sweet, larger than we expected with 2 double and 2 single bedrooms. Crooked floors and beams in the ceiling adding to the charm. Food was never an issue with just a minute walk to the closest store, a totally OK kitchen and several restaurants within 10 minutes walking. Of course there were a few downsides. Hot water and showering is always an issue in Britain, we lacked the accessibility to WiFi, the kitchen equipment was ok but not good and there was no proper cleaning equipment. However, these were all minor issues that didn't affect the general likability. We've been to Llangollen several times and stayed at different hotels, and this is definitely the best place, especially considering the price and flexibility.

A lovely cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed a long weekend with friends in this cottage. Lovely welcome pack. Double beds comfy, singles more for children than adults I would say. Had everything that we needed. Overall a very good place just minutes from the town centre with parking. What more could you ask for?

A beautiful cottage, very welcoming hosts and a lovely setting.

  • 5 of 5

On the day of our arrival we were met at the cottage by Christine and her husband, they were both so friendly and welcoming and made such a fuss of our dog Charlie! The cottage was exactly as described, it was clean, warm and very comfortable. The downstairs bedroom with ensuite was perfect and the upstairs rooms were so bright and airy. Everything you would expect to find at home, you could find in the cottage, even down to books, games and sewing kit! The welcome pack was a lovely surprise, containing fruit, bread, butter, cheese, milk and biscuits. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the cottage to anyone, it was simply perfect. The village itself was very nice, everything you need within easy reach. Do check out the book shop, a real gem for avid readers, so many books you won't know where to start!
