Overview

About the property

Cosy one bedroom, recently converted boathouse in the heart of the Broads.

The Boat House is a unique space which sleeps 2 in one bedroom/sitting room. Fully centrally heated and completely renovated last year, the property has a wonderfully sunny patio where you can relax after a busy day exploring the area. The accommodation comprises of one large room upstairs which has a Feather and Black bed which can be split into twin beds or made into one large double bed. This room also has two armchairs and a TV with a large inbuilt desk set under a window which looks out towards the Broad and the moored boats. This is a wonderful space for the budding writer or for enjoying breakfast. The original staircase (fairly steep) leads down to the kitchenette (please note no oven) and wetroom. The wetroom has underfloor heating. There is a pub and a cafe in the village, both 5 minute's walk away which serve lunch and evening meals (only the pub serves the latter). There is also 'The Ship Inn' in South Walsham which serves meals and is just over a mile away. The apartment is dog friendly, we accept one well behaved dog.

HOT TUB RENTAL now available, £75 per break. The tub is filled and heated for your arrival and comes with a chilled bottle of prosecco.

Why Jane Wilson chose Norfolk & The Broads

Amongst the many things that make living here special, are waking up to the sunshine with the mist hanging over the broad (with the boom of the bittern in the distance if you are lucky!), listening to the owls hooting late at night and drifting along the river on a boat. There is so much to see and do here, not only in the village but also in the rest of the Broads. We are also close to many beaches and Norwich is only half an hour away with it's wonderful shops and museums.

Ranworth is a beautiful village in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. There is a nature reserve in the village which has a thatched visitor centre on stilts at the end of a boardwalk which overlooks Ranworth Broad. From here you can take wildlife trips on the Norfolk Wildlife Trust boat. There are a huge array of birds and wildlife to observe and listen to here. The rare swallowtail butterfly can often be seen in the garden. Ranworth church which you can see from the property is known as the 'Cathedral of the Broads'. Climb up to the top of the tower and enjoy wonderful views of the village and views all the way across to the coast. The church is known for it's beautiful rood screen and antiphoner, it is well worth a visit. There is also a cafe here. A few minutes walk from the accommodation is the staithe which is host to the many boats which visit the village. Here you will find the pub, the shop and a cafe. It's a great spot to have a meal or a drink and watch the world go by. There are walks in the area and you may also like to visit the nearby Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens, which comprises of 53 hectares (131 acres) of beautiful ancient woodland, water gardens and a private broad at South Walsham.

Perfect for couples and fantastic value for money.

  • 5 of 5

Really lovely property - very comfortable and homely. Incredibly comfortable bed - slept like a baby except for one morning we were awoken by the boiler (we turned it off, simple fix).

Excellent amenities - worth noting there is a lack of a cooker although they do provide a small portable stove. This is fine for us because we're lazy and eat out every night anyway! Wifi is great which is perfect because the phone service is non existent and millennials like ourselves cannot navigate without google maps.

Superb location - not too far to travel anywhere. Lots of good walks right by the property including a nature reserve literal seconds from the door. Plenty of local pubs serving great beer and food including one practically on the doorstep.

Jane was a fantastic host who made us feel at home and ensured we were very comfortable.

We'd love to visit again - hope we're welcome back!

Idyllic base for a relaxing weekend!

  • 4 of 5

A perfectly quaint little hideaway, just tucked back from the busy moorings at Ranworth. Comfortable, cosy and sufficiently equipped to meet all needs. Beautiful walks extend in all directions with either the nature reserve to the left or the famous church (and foot ferry to Horning beyond) to the right. A few yards ahead lies the comfortable 'Malsters' pub with plenty of room and a large, well-priced menu to boot. Jane was the perfect host - a warm greeting and close at hand to deal with any issues if needed. Thankfully, there were none. Highly recommended to de-stress and unwind!

Fantastic property with great attention to detail by the owners. Immaculately clean. Fantastic views over the broad one way and the church the other. Walking distance to the staithe, local shop, pub and Norfolk Wildlife Trust Ranworth Broad walk.

Fantastic wee boathouse for two!

  • 5 of 5

Great base for exploring Norfolk. Boathouse has everything you need, with a very large comfortable bed. Nice views over the broads to the front and alpaccas to the rear. You are made to feel very welcome. Jane and John have great knowledge of the area and can recommend nice places to visit. Norfolk a very tranquil place to visit - not for anyone who likes to get somewhere quickly!
