About the property

Quirky one bedroom, recently converted boathouse in the heart of the Broads.

The Boat House is a unique space which sleeps 2 in one bedroom/sitting room. Fully centrally heated and completely renovated last year, the property has a wonderfully sunny patio where you can relax after a busy day exploring the area. The accommodation comprises of one large room upstairs which has a Feather and Black bed which can be split into twin beds or made into one large double bed. This room also has two armchairs and a TV with a large inbuilt desk set under a window which looks out towards the Broad and the moored boats. This is a wonderful space for the budding writer or for enjoying breakfast. The original staircase (fairly steep) leads down to the kitchenette (please note no oven) and wetroom. The wetroom has underfloor heating. There is a pub and a cafe in the village, both 5 minute's walk away which serve lunch and evening meals (only the pub serves the latter). There is also 'The Ship Inn' in South Walsham which serves meals and is just over a mile away. The apartment is dog friendly, we accept one well behaved dog.

HOT TUB RENTAL now available, please get in touch for more information.

Why Jane Wilson chose Norfolk & The Broads

Amongst the many things that make living here special, are waking up to the sunshine with the mist hanging over the broad (with the boom of the bittern in the distance if you are lucky!), listening to the owls hooting late at night and drifting along the river on a boat. There is so much to see and do here, not only in the village but also in the rest of the Broads. We are also close to many beaches and Norwich is only half an hour away with it's wonderful shops and museums.

A quaint and charming property in a really lovely village setting

  • 5 of 5

Ranworth is an ideal place to explore the broads and surrounding areas and the Boathouse is a perfect property to do it from. Jane is a fantastic host and ensured that everything we needed was catered for including some lovely welcome pack touches. The Maltsters pub is just a couple of minutes walk away and is a great place to relax and unwind, serving great food in a lovely atmosphere. The Boathouse offers a peaceful and tranquil place to say and it's not often you can wake up to see alpacas grazing in your garden!!. It really is a beautiful cottage and highly recommended.

Lovely well situated converted Boathouse

  • 5 of 5

Ranworth is an idyllic spot on the Broads and this converted Boathouse is so well placed you can easily walk to Malthouse and Ranworth Broads, the church, the pub, the shop and the tearoom. The accommodation overlooks the Broad and the church....we enjoyed the views immensely.

Restful interlude

  • 5 of 5

Great base for exploring the area, Norwich, the broads and the coast all within easy reach. The property was lovely and very welcoming, warm and well equipped. The view out of the window was great - watching the boats and the bird life on the broads. Lots of good places to eat, some within walking distance. Jane was also a good host, friendly but unobtrusive.

The Boat House is a cosy retreat with real home from home comforts. It is ideally located for the Broads, the coast and Norwich. We loved staying here and Jane goes out of her way to make you feel very welcome. A real gem of a place.

Ranworth is a beautiful village in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. There is a nature reserve in the village which has a thatched visitor centre on stilts at the end of a boardwalk which overlooks Ranworth Broad. From here you can take wildlife trips on the Norfolk Wildlife Trust boat. There are a huge array of birds and wildlife to observe and listen to here. The rare swallowtail butterfly can often be seen in the garden. Ranworth church which you can see from the property is known as the 'Cathedral of the Broads'. Climb up to the top of the tower and enjoy wonderful views of the village and views all the way across to the coast. The church is known for it's beautiful rood screen and antiphoner, it is well worth a visit. There is also a cafe here. A few minutes walk from the accommodation is the staithe which is host to the many boats which visit the village. Here you will find the pub, the shop and a cafe. It's a great spot to have a meal or a drink and watch the world go by. There are walks in the area and you may also like to visit the nearby Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens, which comprises of 53 hectares (131 acres) of beautiful ancient woodland, water gardens and a private broad at South Walsham.
