Great property for a large group with dogs

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed at New Hall for a long weekend in August and had a great time. The house is pretty impressive, with 7 bedrooms and multiple bathrooms and community rooms for 14 people and 3 dogs. The grounds are big with a moat and plenty of space for BBQ's or rounders.

Shops were only about 10mins drive and there were loads of country roads to walk down. Chirk Castle was a short distance away and well worth a visit.

The hosts were flexible around meeting times and really friendly. I would definitely visit again if we came back to Wales.

Family and Friend Birthday Celebration at New Hall August 2016

  • 5 of 5

We had been planning this special celebration for months and fell in love with the property from the moment we found it on the 'Owners Direct' Web Site. We were bringing together friends and family from both the north and south of the country for the first time in a decade. The 'Wow' factor , when approaching the property with its glorious gardens and stunning landscaping cannot really be described and the house itself sprawling over three floors with individually designed reception rooms and bedrooms gave plenty of space for the main event and but also moments of reflection. The group was a mixed group and I did wonder how I could possibly match the needs of the guests against their individual requirements. I didn't have to be concerned for very long as once I had explained a wonderful detailed room list was produced that took all the needs of young, old and all inbetween into consideration. The house is close enough to walk into Chirk to enjoy all the beautiful surrounding countryside with spectacular scenery, canal walks or rides, aqueducts and even a Castle on the doorstep. But, to be honest you didn't even need to leave the house and gardens to have a wonderful time. The pictures on the web site are stunning but come nowhere near to doing the property justice, so be prepared for a delightful surprise when you approach the property for the first time. It certainly exceeded all of our expectations. A big thank-you to all at New Hall for all the help, hospitality, and attention to detail that made for such a wonderful weekend.

Beautiful house in breathtaking grounds (the pics dont do it justice). We had 14 adults and 5 kids and there was plenty of room. Perfect weekend!

Highly Recommended

Just literally got back from New Hall – great place for a large number of which we had 11 (plus two dogs) of us staying over the New Year. Even though the weather was awful the accommodation was excellent. A huge kitchen with a large table and Aga was the natural meeting place. Next to this a huge dining room we could all sit in next to the fire place. Off this was a snug living room with large surround sound TV. Plus a kids ‘Pool Room’ Upstairs a maze of bedrooms and bathrooms, all fitted very well. Outside a ‘Moat!’ and large gardens.

Outside the garden you could walk in any direction, up the hills, along the valleys following rivers, canals, aqueducts, tunnels – you name it. Even a Castle almost next door! – A OS map though is a must to get the most if this is your intention.

The small town has all the basic facilities you need, or much larger towns close by. The owner was very helpful and helped with anything you needed locally. Make sure you ask him to show you the bits of this listed house you don’t have access too – very interesting.

Highly recommended and we will be back.

Spacious, well-kept house for family and friends get-togethers

  • 4 of 5

We had a good weekend in New Hall - despite the fact that the the Wales GB Rally at Chirk Castle was due to take place on the same weekend and unbeknownst to us at the time of booking! The farmhouse has plenty of room, a large dining table and kitchen table and a spacious lounge with 3 sofas, woodburner, piano and TV. Bedrooms were well presented & comfortable, with some en suite and others sharing a large bathroom. The house was warm even in the November chill and the billiard table on the ground floor was a great way to end the evenings. Although too cold at this time of year to use the gardens properly, they were well maintained and a cattle grid on the drive prevented our dogs from wandering off the property. The house is ideally located to walk over to Chirk Castle and a short drive or walk from Chirk centre.

Our only disappointment from the weekend was that our access passes provided by Wales Rally GB organisers did not allow us to return to the farmhouse until after 5pm on one of the days which caused a delay in plans for the evening - the owners went to some trouble to arrange this for us since the nearby lanes were closed to non-resident traffic. However, overall we enjoyed staying at the property and recommend it for groups who wish to explore the locality and have a spacious, comfortable base to return to at the end of the day.

Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

Group of 13 stayed at New Hall for a stag weekend in October 2015.

The house is beautiful, spacious, more than enough room for all 13 big sweaty boys.

Mark was very accommodating and was ready to answer any questions.

Enjoyed it so much that we are considering coming up again in the future to further explore Chirk and the surrounding area. Recommended!
