About the Owner

The owners Pat and Clive wanted to create a lovely luxury retreat which was dog friendly. We chose the home for its location, but it needed a lot of work! So we set about an extensive refurbishment and extension to create a stunning home for ourselves and our guests to enjoy. We live in Sheffield where we have a retail business in the Meadowhall Centre "Candletime" and we try to get away for it all and enjoy some R&R only 2.5 hours away. We also own a property in Orlando Florida and take a couple of holidays there each year to catch some quaranteed sun!

Unfortunately our lovely dog Jasper is no longer with us, but he loved our lake view home and the walks and dog friendly pubs close by, and we have named our home Jaspers Retreat in his memory.

Wonderful property but could do with a little more attention to detail...

  • 4 of 5

Nice contemporary design with open plan kitchen dining living room. Three good size bedrooms, two of which have rather luxurious en suite bathrooms. Excellent location with superb views over Windermere. 5 minute walk down to Bowness for the paper each morning. Choccobar for morning coffee. The delightful Beatrix Potter museum a must. A mile away in Windermere there is a Lakeland and a Booths. Enjoyed an autumnal prosecco under a rug and a patio heater at the Lighthouse. Any number of fabulous walks just a short car journey away...

So far so good. Forgive me for being a little picky but this property is not cheap and for the price I think I might have expected some proper glass wine glasses, weighing scales for food preparation, a measuring jug that you could read, possibly an espresso machine (we brought our own), advice to bring CDs and a bluetooth connection for an iPad. The TV required a new scart cable to stop it humming while we were there, several light bulbs had to be replaced and several ceiling downlighters weren't working. A little more attention to detail and my review would have been 5 stars...

Beautiful!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the pictures of Jaspers when we saw it online and were worried it wouldn't live up to our excited expectations.. But we needed have worried!! From the moment you step through the door you know you're somewhere higher end and classy. And we loved our two weeks spent in this beautiful house, it meant even more that we found such a lovely home which allowed our little shih tzu to come with us too. Don't hesitate, it's stunning.

We didn't want to leave 😕

  • 5 of 5

We are completely in love with Jaspers Retreat. It offered us everything we were looking for and some. It is classy & stylish whilst still being homely. The outside space was so relaxing - I was even found out there on chillier nights with a blanket, book & a glass of something - taking it all in.

There are simply no negatives except........we tried to book for next year and there doesn't seem to be any time available!!! Please let us know if you get a cancellation 😊򒠮

Thank you so very much for offering such a beautiful home for us to rent. I fear very few will come up to scratch after this.

Location

From the Owner

Now our dream house, with lake views, open living space so all guests can enjoy time together and private spaces to get away for a quiet moment, started as an ugly duckling but the view and location stole our hearts. After 18 months work extending, and refurbishing to a luxury standard we now have a very special holiday home. We enjoy the many local restaurants, walking round the lake or fells, riding on the lake cruisers or shopping in the many shops and villages close by. We took our holidays in Bowness to be with our dog Jasper, but could never find a luxury property which took dogs! So we decided to create our own and hope that you will enjoy it too...
