Much enjoyed the log fires. Very cost cottage, one of the best we have stayed in over 30 years!

Another wonderful stay at the cottage. Everything you could wish for and more, all the facilities on your doorstep and a lovely comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. The owners really know how to make your stay special. Would recommend the cottage to friends and family but make sure I can get my booking in first. Look forward to next years visit already.

Comfortable, well equiped, home from home

  • 5 of 5

We and our dogs loved our star in Long Melford. The cottage was super, clean, nicely presented, lovely welcome pack. We didn't want for anything, apart from it did get warm upstairs at night, as only able to open the back window, although the electric fan helped. A secluded garden to sit in, which we used ever day, and plenty of local amenities just outside your door.

We tried all the local pubs, both for snacks and evening meals, all good. Various individual shops to visit and a great butchers.

Would certainly recommend, beautiful countryside, good walks, very relaxing. Would like to return in the winter, cosy....

Beautiful cottage, very welcoming

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely welcome pack at the cottage which made me feel the owners cared about making you welcome. The cottage itself is lovely, very cosy. Also a lovely back garden where we sat out in the summerhouse and relaxed. The double bed was lovely and cosy which was good because I have joint problems and am always worried when I go away about the beds not being comfortable. My husband sometimes had to sleep in the single bed because of his snoring and that was not comfortable. But overall our stay was lovely. The village is beautiful and we met lots of lovely people. Would definately recommend this cottage, in fact my sister is looking at dates now.

Lovely cottage in perfect village

  • 5 of 5

Cheryl went out of her way to accommodate us, and we enjoyed a wonderful fortnight at Stone Cottage, which was welcoming and comfortable. Parking outside was easy, at all times, even at the height of the holiday season (July).

Long Melford itself is a lovely village, with Co-op, butcher, baker, tea shops, antiques and more, as well as five pubs/hotels, of which we tried four. The George and Dragon, and Cock and Bell we ate at once, but almost lived in The Bull and The Crown, the latter being our favourite. Both serve a selection of lunches and evening meals, to suit all pockets and appetites. Fish and Chips, Indian and Chinese also available within the village. Large Tesco, McDonalds in Sudbury a couple of miles away. We found, though, that everything we needed was a short walk from Stone Cottage, including delightful dog walking fields and paths.

Were we to consider moving south (from NE Scotland), Long Melford and nearby Clare would be at the top of our short list of ideal locations.

Great cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is so lovely! So cute and clean, and Cheryl left some lovely welcome treats. The garden is really nice as well.

Cheryl was also very helpful when we were having problems making payment through the OwnersDirect website.

Great location and great owner, couldn't ask for more. There were really helpful booklets in the cottage with local information on places to visit.

Highly recommended.

A lovely stay in beautiful suffolk

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was: lovely and clean, well stocked, comfortable and conveniently positioned in the village centre. I would highly recommend it and hope to return. Cheryl could not have been more helpful. Best points were the cleanliness and home comforts the worst points were the garden and lack of storage in kitchen for ones things if one is intending to cook as I did. This cottage meets it's discription and is amongst the best we have stayed in so thank you Cheryl for a lovely break and offer of champagne for mums 80th.

Owner's Response: Thank you for a lovely review and I'm really glad that you enjoyed your break. I'm a keen cook too and share your pain although we've tried the best that with can in terms of equipment with the space available - not easy in a small Victorian cottage kitchen :) We'd love to welcome you all back again and I'm so pleased that your Mum enjoyed her birthday celebrations. x

Location

From the Owner

We came to Long Melford for a weeks holiday 3 years ago and before leaving for home had arranged to buy Stone Cottage. Not only is Long Melford the perfect Suffolk Village with fantastic restaurants, pubs, tea rooms, independent shops and art galleries but Stone Cottage provides an escape at any time of year. With walks from the door and 2 log burners it' wonderful whatever the season.
