About the property

Trullo near Martina Franca, Locorotondo and Alberobello, 30 minutes to the coast

Trullo Fumarola is a wonderful place all year round which offers lots of things to do for the whole family. The pool is open from mid-April through October. The central garden and pool area are shared with the other house on the plot (a recently built Villa which sleeps 6-8 people). Garden, pool and pool area (with large shaded dining area) are very generously sized, in order to offer enough space to each party, in case both houses are occupied. We are confident we can recommend this property to anyone, including families with small children (our own kids grew up here). The property is a tranquil, safe and child-friendly environment, the pool is protected by a fence. The garden has a great variety of fruit and olive trees, some hundreds of years old. There are many attractions in the area: Lots of little towns with wonderful historical centers, Unesco heritage sites like Alberobello (just 15 minutes by car) and Matera, Lecce with its amazing baroque, lots of beaches on both coasts, countless typical restaurants for all budgets...Upon arrival you will find your complimentary Welcome Kit with useful information about the area, such as restaurants, places to see, things to do etc.

This traditional Trullo, built around 1820 by our ancestors, has been completely restored to the highest standard whilst keeping the original features, such as the floor made of ancient lime stone and the exposed arches. Unlike many Trulli it is very light and spacious.

It has its own outside dining area, limestone-courtyard and private garden area with hammocks and pine trees.

About Sandro Fumarola

My wife, Ina, and I have been living in this wonderful area for several years now. I was born and raised in Martina Franca while Ina is originally from Munich (Germany). The Trullo and land have been in my family for seven generations (it was build by an ancestor). We have restored it very carefully, focusing on keeping its original features, such as the exposed stone arches and the century-old limestone on the floor. At the same time, we have built a new house on the land which we wanted to blend in with the local architecture without trying to look ancient. We have spent a lot of time exploring this enchanting region and love to share our findings and experience with people who come and visit us.

Ina and I are active members of the dog and cat rescue association ANGELI DEI RANDAGI, a local non-profit organization, entirely run and funded by volunteers, all highly dedicated to saving as many stray animals as possible while improving their living conditions.

We regularly feed the strays, while rescuing and fostering as many puppies as we possibly can. All adoptions are managed very carefully, with a thorough check of the adopters before and especially after the dog or cat has moved in with their new owners. We also organize campaigns to raise awareness and fight abuse and abandonment.

The association mostly relies on donations while all volunteers work without any kind of monetary compensation.

Why Sandro Fumarola chose Taranto

Trullo Fumarola offers Trullo Living at its best. Experience high quality finish with traditional features such as the original stone and arches. Enjoy all modern comforts and lots of light which come through the three large glazed doors. The setting is particularly calm and peaceful, yet without being too remote. Some of the most beautiful sites of the area are within close reach.

What makes this house unique

Great all year round and safe for anyone: The property is all on one level and the pool is fenced in. Trullo Fumarola is a wonderful accommodation during the hot summers as it keeps wonderfully cool inside, without the need of any air condition, it is just as welcoming out of season as it is fully equipped for the cooler weather as well, with a modern and very efficient central heating system and two working fire places. Enjoy the area's many attractions outside from the busy summer, such as wine tasting, biking, hiking and much more.

Make your holiday in Puglia special thanks to our constant service during your stay. We will be happy to help you organize activities to make your stay truly memorable. Our much appraised Welcome Kit with detailed information about the area, things to do and places to see will be supplied.

Best child-friendly holiday yet!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a 5-night stay at Trullo Fumarola and can safely say we will be back. The trullo is beautiful, inside and out. It was very comfortable and well-equipped. It was great to find a lot of the basics there, such as tea, coffee, sugar, washing liquid etc. Furthermore, there was a bottle of delicious extra-virgin olive oil which I understand the owners produce themselves. I must confess to having used virtually the whole large bottle during our stay. The owners also left us a very nice bottle of red wine and some home-made biscuits, which were extremely welcome on our arrival. The trullo was very clean and well-maintained, exactly as it appeared in the pictures. The owners were very helpful and made themselves available to answer any queries, while not being intrusive.

We were with our two-year-old son on this holiday. He had a fantastic time too. There is lots of space for little ones to run around and he really enjoyed using the slide and the swings. Ina had left a great big container of toys and cars for our son to play with, which he was delighted with. The pool was great too, and easily big enough to accommodate you and the guests from the other house. It is fenced off for safety and although the fence looks quite low in the pictures, it's not, and it would be virtually impossible for a small child to open the gates to get in there.

This is probably the first holiday we have had where we have hardly eaten out at restaurants at all. The place is so beautiful that we were happy to cook and eat al fresco there, rather than go out. There is plenty of space to eat outside, including nice shaded areas with tables and chairs. A couple of nights, we joined forces with the family in the other house and had very sociable evenings sitting outside enjoying good food and wine.

We did have a really excellent meal out at a place called Il Cortiletto in Speziale. It didn't look much from the outside but was definitely worth the drive (it was recommended by several of my brother's Italian friends). I would highly recommend the tagliatelle with courgette flowers.

We would definitely recommend Trullo Fumarola to friends and family. In fact, my parents were staying nearby and came over one day for lunch, and were adamant that next time, they would be booking this.... Not if we get there first!

Beautiful accomodation, great location.

  • 5 of 5

We travelled with 3 young children and even so had a relaxing holiday. The Trulli is situated in a beautiful, central location making it very easy to visit nearby towns and beaches. The accomodation itself is wonderful! Clean, beautiful decor, safe for children ,with lovely gardens for them to roam in. Ina and Sandro were very helpful ang gracious hosts. They helped us with recommendations on local restuarant, places to visit etc, all lovely. We were even greated with a bucket load of beach toys for our children when we mentioned we were off to the beach. We will definitely be back. Ina and Sandro, thank you for a wonderful stay.

A magical place in a magical region

  • 5 of 5

In a region scattered with these beautiful buildings, it is hard to imagine stepping inside a Trullo as comfortable, stylish and lovingly restored as this. We loved every minute - even the autumn showers didn't dampen our spirits.

What really made it was that Ina and Sandro were the perfect guides - and gave us some really valuable tips from where to buy the tastiest mozzarella and gelato, to where to feast on the best seafood in Italy.

We fell head over heels in love with the region -in no small part thanks to Ina, Sandro & their special Trullo. We'll certainly be back. Book now - you won't regret it!

High-spec Trulli in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The property itself was spacious (in our case, 2 adults and 1 child), clean and well-equipped, in addition to a fabulous pool and well-maintained gardens offering a perfect location in Val D’Itria from which to explore the many pretty towns in the surrounding area, as well as providing easy access to the Adriatic coast and it’s numerous beaches and beach-clubs. For those travelling with younger children, It is also a short drive to the Zoo and the Aqua Park close by Fasano.

The key thing for us is always the people we meet, and we felt that the owners were extremely generous, friendly and helpful and thoughtful, thus contributing immensely to an excellent holiday.

Already recommended this and the adjacent villa to several friends and we hope to return at some point also!
