About Kev

We are a couple in our early 40s. We got married a couple of years ago and as one of us was working in the North East we both relocated in Saltburn By The Sea when we got married. We lived in Saltburn for about a year and were absolutely gutted to have to move back to London when both our Jobs ended. Luckily we found our little cottage in Loftus, which enabled us to keep coming to this beautiful part of the world. Although Loftus might not be the perfect village, it is the perfect base for holidaying as it is conveniently surrounded with beautiful walks, drives to the coast and nearby touristic places. The village has a supermarket, a butcher, bank, post office and a bakery, perfect for self catering or it is less than 2 mins drive to the Tiger Inn pub , which a lot of our guest gave good feedback on the food.

Why Kev chose North Yorkshire

It was the perfect base for us, We fell in love with the cottage .

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is within 5 mins walk to the local Co-op, butcher, bank, post office, bakery & Cafe,

It is the perfect base for exploring, Saltburn ( best fish and Chips on the beachfront), Staithes ( Famous for captain cook) Runswick bay, Whitby & Robin Hoods Bay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great cottage clean, well equipped and well organised with friendly owners makes this a good place to stay . Not so much in the village of Loftus, however close to lots of lovely places to visit, we had a great time.

Nice cottage, shame about the location

  • 3 of 5

If I had known how disappointing the town of Loftus was going to be I probably wouldn't have booked this cottage. It's the kind of place that if you drove through you wouldn't even consider stopping. However, it's a well decorated and well looked after cottage and a nice place to live in for a couple of days. It's access to places like Staithes is handy.

Cute and cosy cottage - brilliant base for local beaches

  • 5 of 5

The property has all the facilities you could imagine and feels like a home from home. It is fantastic that the owners provide wi-fi for guests, this is brilliant when the kids need their internet fix. A lovely touch from the owners when you arrive leaving milk, wine and sweets etc. Cannot fault the cottage at all it is brilliant. The co-op in staithes sells logs for the log burner if you cant find any closer. The log burner is nice on cold dark nights after a long day exploring the local beaches.

Sam smiths pub nearby - the stout is lovely however the landlord not as welcoming.

Co-op is a 2 minute walk away.

A fantastic little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a few days to visit the coast and the North York Moors. Very easy to reach both from Loftus. The cottage is compact but well furnished and very comfortable. Hope to return soon.

Short break on the Yorkshire Moor's Coast

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed this well equipped, very clean and pleasant Cottage. The location is very suitable for trips in the area and we would certainly recommend this to friends and relatives.

The suggested Fish and Chips Restaurant/Take Away near the Saltburn-by-the-Sea pier was a disappointment to us. We found it greasy and nothing special. We did, however, have a lovely meal at the Magpie Restaurant in Whitby.

Parking near the Cottage was not difficult, but when we got back later in the evening we had to go a little further up the road.

All in all we had a great time and the weather played along nicely too.

Owner's Response: Hi there Marianne, I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your very kind words. I am glad you love our cottage and surroundings as much as we do. It sounds like the fish and chip shop is not quite what it used to be and so I will hold off my whole-hearted recommendation in the future. Thanks for letting us know. Thanks and very best wishes Kev and Nisha
