The perfect place to rest and relax

The property was homely, everything was provided for a warm welcome. Many little personal touchs made us feel welcome. It was a good experience looking around the Wirral. Perfect place for walkers and cyclists. Neston was a good base to explore from. I gladly would recommend this property. I felt the personal feel like DVDs and novels available showed kind and thoughtful planning on the part of our hosts.

Cosy Retreat

A very clean comfortable accommodation. Peaceful. Very pleasant owners who will help you in anyway. Ideal location for exploring the Wirral as that is what we wanted to do. If you want to explore Cheshire and North wales it seems to be conveniently placed.

Excellent easy cycling area with off road Wirral Way Country Park ride, and link to Chester completed. Convenient for local shops (5 min walk), pubs for eating down the hill at Parkgate ( lovely sunsets ), Ness gardens well worth a visit. Excellent informal Greek restaurant in Neston as well. Good train links and bus services.

Delightful stay in a charming area.

Thank you to Richard and Karen for providing us with an impeccable cottage, which exceeded our expectations in every way. The presentation was immaculate, and the help and friendliness of our hosts was outstanding. We enjoyed many walks in the local area (especially along the Wirral Way) and the proximity to Chester, Liverpool and North Wales made for enjoyable travelling. Good local shopping was within walking distance, and several good pubs not far away for meals. We would gladly recommend The Villa to friends, and would hope to return in the future.

Our past guests have said that the Cottage has a 'Home from Home' atmosphere. They enjoy the birds and the garden.

Activity and Interests

Tracing back to pre Doomsday Book with evidence of a Viking settlement, Neston was at one time, the biggest port in the North West, before the Port of Liverpool. Ships sailed from Neston to Portugal, Spain France and Ireland.

When Neston Parish Church was rebuilt in 1874, four carved sandstone fragments were uncovered in the foundations. A fifth had been used as a lintel of a window in the ringing chamber of the bell tower. These stones are now displayed inside the church. It has been confirmed that they were the remains of Viking grave markers dating back to930AD.

Extending back to before the Napoleonic Wars ‘Neston Ladies’ Day – organised by Neston Female Society – has been the highlight of the community’s calendar for over two hundred years. It is a unique and cherished tradition, the jewel in the crown of this Cheshire Market Town held on the first Thursday in June every year. Around 200 girls, take part in a procession through the town, led by a pipe band, with thousands of people lining the route. The ladies and girls taking part in the procession traditionally carry white staffs topped with flowers and decorated with brightly coloured ribbons.
