Overview

About the property

2 bedroom cottage in the heart of Suffolk.

There are two homely double bedrooms, one of which is a traditional Suffolk landing bedroom with heavy drapes for complete privacy. The other is a fair sized double bedroom with built in wardrobes and a dressing table.

The cottage has a modern kitchen and dining area with a table and chairs for four people to dine comfortably. The bathroom, which is downstairs, has a modern fitted suite with shower over the bath.

The cosy lounge is fully carpeted and equipped with flat screen TV, DVD player and CD player. There is a selection of books, CD's and DVD's.

The cottage has full central heating and an electric' wood-burner type' stove in the lounge for instant heat on a chilly evening. There is a table and chairs in the courtyard garden for alfresco dining, weather permitting.

Please note: Cherub Cottage occupies an elevated position and is accessed by four steps leading up from the pavement. Also there is only on street parking.

Flexible changeover days throughout the year.

Not as good as expected

  • 2 of 5

The main problem was that it was extremely difficult climbing the stairs to the bedroom. We are both of an age when mobility is a problem, and the stairs to the bedroom were steep, narrow and dangerous. The toilet was on the ground floor which made night time visits to the bathroom especially difficult. The shower was over a bath with no grab handle available. The only seat that had any degree of comfort was a small chair in the lounge, the settee and the four dining room chairs were very uncomfortable. There was no teapot or toast rack, very important items. We were expected to put the rubbish out, an impossible task given the narrow steps down to the road where due to parked cars, a very narrow pavement, an extremely busy and dangerous road making it impossible to position a wheelie bin safely. Owners should make customers aware of the difficulties that arise from this type of property. No problems with the heating and hot water, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Future customers should also be made aware of car parking problems.

Owner's Response: I am sorry the cottage did not come up to your expectations. Just one phone call to me and I would have immediately brought a kettle & toast rack to you and would have sourced a couple of chairs more suited to your needs. The description on the website clearly states that the bathroom is downstairs and as can be seen from the pictures showing the bath and over bath shower there are no grab rails. The pictures also show the staircase which is actually a good size for an old cottage. With regard to the waste bins I certainly do not expect anyone to put them out. If anyone wishes to do so during their stay the information folder gives details of collection day and where to leave them - which is at the top of the steps only. The binmen collect from there. Chris.

It was our second stay in the cottage. We were made to feel very welcome and had all we needed for a comfortable, winter break.

Lovely little cottage

  • 5 of 5

Really lovely and clean cottage in nice village.

Road can be busy but parking was never a problem.

Milk and other items greeted us on arrival.

This cottage was really nicely furnished and everything you needed was provided.

Plenty of places to eat and drink not too far away.

Highly recommend.
