About the Owner

I was born in London and worked as a product designer, model maker and teacher before moving to St.Ives in 1996. I ran a Veggy guest house for 15 years before marrying Sarah and having 2 young daughters. We have now taken over the guest house for our own home and bought the apartments just a minute up the road from us. I have been working on renovating and updating them ever since and hope you will enjoy the results!

comfortable apartment with lovely views

This was a lovely apartment with great views. Simon was a good host who kept in touch prior to our arrival and was very helpful in accommodating our needs. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and appropriately stocked. Parking was very convenient as we found it right outside of the apartment.

The apartment is located 2 minutes from local shops and about 10 minute walk from the harbour. Though it is not a long walk, it is on a very steep hill, so I wouldn't recommend this place if you have mobility issues.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comments - the hills in St.Ives can be a shock to the system, but worth it for the amazing views at the top! The harbour is 3 or 4 minutes away down the hill, but more like 10 on the way up!

Wonderful week in St Ives

We had a fantastic week with our 3 boys in St Ives. The maisonette is in a superb position - just a few minutes walk from the shops and the harbour but in a quiet road. And the view!

The maisonette is comfortable and homely rather than stylish, but that was fine with us. It sleeps 5 easily and although the kitchen is small it is well equipped and the (small) dishwasher and washing machine were welcome.

The downstairs hall is ideal for dumping walking boots and coats. The bathroom is spacious and the shower is good. There is the added bonus of an en-suite loo and basin to the upstairs double bedroom.

The place was clean and Simon welcomed us there to make sure we knew how everything worked and had what we needed.

The parking space is at the station - quite some distance away - but as we were there off peak we always managed to get a space outside so it was not an issue.

We loved the town and the beaches and did the walk to Zennor along the SW Coastal Path. Be warned that it is a long walk with some tricky bits but even our 8 year old managed it. It took us 4.5 hours including frequent stops. If you miss the last bus back from Zennor, the pub will call you a cab which cost us about £15 for 5 of us. Also note that the pub stops serving lunch at 3pm but at least you can get a good pint of Cornish ale!

We also went to Sennen Cove, Porthcurno Telegraph Museum, Mousehole, St Michael's Mount, Falmouth and St Mawes. Loved them all.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review! For other prospective customers, we also have a parking space for you at our house round the corner. I can also save a space for your arrival on Carrack Dhu road using my car. Barnoon car park is a minutes walk away. Our reserved space at the station is 10-12 minutes walk away.

Location

St.Ives really is the best base for your visit to West Cornwall. You can easily lose a week in the idyllic bubble that envelops you in the town - everything is a stroll away and getting lost in the maze of tiny back lanes is part of the experience! Our apartments are situated perfectly for your holiday - close enough to the harbour and beaches to be able to stroll there and back in a few minutes, but far enough away from the hustle, bustle and noise of it's nightlife to feel totally at peace! Carrack Dhu road is a leafy south facing Victorian terrace and its position just above the harbour area affords it stunning sea views over St.Ives bay and over to Godrevy lighthouse. Each apartment also has its own secluded, sunny garden with decking and table/chairs, also a barbecue. The interiors are very spacious, especially compared to the tiny 'fisherman's cottages' around the harbour front and Downalong. We have tried hard to create a homely feeling, with many original features such as fireplaces adding to the atmosphere.

St.Ives provides plenty of places and activities to keep you busy for a week - and all within walking distance from our apartments. Go seal-watching in a fishing boat, laze on any of 5 clean, sandy beaches, browse art galleries, admire the views from a beach cafe - or enjoy a meal in award-winning restaurants. Follow the coast path west into wind-swept wildness, or an easier stroll east through lush wooded areas.

Further afield, explore ancient stone circles, cycle/walking routes through preserved -and ruined-

tin mines, visit St.Michaels Mount across the tidal causeway, Eden Project, Falmouth Maritime Museum, or take a boat or plane across to the Scilly Isles for a day trip. We have lived here 20 years and have still only scratched the surface of what this beautiful part of the world has to offer!

You are staying in a home from home, owned, maintained and cleaned by a local family. We will meet you personally on arrival, get you settled in and answer any questions you may have. We live a minutes walk away and are always on call if you need any assistance or advice during your holiday. No agencies, faceless owners, complicated key pick-ups. And no hidden charges!
