The Dash is an unspoiled traditional hill farm, completely secluded, and located on the northern side of Skiddaw. "Perhaps one of the rare places you can see the sea, a waterfall and a lake all in one view!!"

The farm nestles at the foot of the famous Whitewater Dash waterfall which sits at the head of Dash Valley looking down to Bassenthwaite Lake and on to the Solway Coast and to Scotland in the distance.

Set in 150 acres of private farmland, the property has a garden and there is direct access on to the open fell.

Summary of Accommodation

The ground floor of the house has underfloor heating throughout. Upstairs is centrally heated with radiators.

Sleeps 6/8 (6 adults plus children) (with cot and high chair provided at no charge)

Access to the farmhouse - there are a few gates to open and close on the way to The Dash, please leave these as you find them. Many Thanks.

No one would dispute that the area is a veritable paradise for walkers and climbers, but it also must be said there are a great many fascinating places to visit by car.

Fortunately for us, the vast majority of visitors don't venture further north than Keswick. The Dash is perhaps only a 15 minute drive north of Keswick and yet the area and roads are perfectly quiet and still.

Lovely, characterful, warm cottage.

Amazing scenery, isolation, cockerel and hens......wonderful!

The Farmhouse has underfloor heating, so is beautifully warm even when the weather is less so. It is also very well equipped and has really comfy beds. The huge bath was a great hit with our family.

Wonderful walks literally on the doorstep.

Come prepared to open 5 gates on route from the road to the house.

Isolated and quiet farmhouse just as pictured and fantastic place to stay.

This farmhouse was an amazing place to stay - many people visit time after time. Blissfully quiet, comfortable beds, warm showers and amazingly huge bath. The drying room was very useful and the house is well equipped. The road to the house is more like a 2 mile farm track, the last bit would be tough in anything but a 4x4 (although possible with care). Easy to access the rest of the Lake District but also many fabulous walks from the doorstep. Would thoroughly recommend this farmhouse.

Peaceful with a pet rooster

Green and secluded, other than a few hikers headed to the waterfall you can avoid the world for a few days and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The owners did a good job of maintaining the feeling of on old farmhouse with modern life. The resident rooster is very socialized, and may think he is a dog.

And despite the description of having limited internet, we had excellent wireless services.

Perfect Get Away from It All Vacation

We could not have been happier with Dash Farmhouse. A charming home, well-equipped, in a gorgeous locale. We particularly enjoyed the rooster who pecked on the kitchen window when we arrived, and the great walks. It was difficult to get to since there was a bridge out on the route we should have taken (which Eleanor warned us about), but the back-up directions were sketchy and we ended up lost and no one answered any of the three phone numbers we'd been provided when we called for help navigating our way to the house. We got there eventually, though, and it was worth it. If you want peace and quiet and stunning views from every window (and lots of sheep around), this is the place for you. I highly recommend it.
