One Bedroom apartment attached to Public House

The apartment at the back of the pub boasts an open plan lounge with a fully equipped kitchen area and wooden exposed beams throughout. French doors lead to a small terrace with an outside table & two chairs. The apartment contains a spacious bedroom with air conditioning, double bed, large wardrobes, dressing table and en-suite wet room with power shower. Suitable for couples & small families with 2 adults and up to two children. An ideal get away to explore the Suffolk countryside, or just escape the hussel & bussel of a busy life and chill out!

Free Car parking is available, but a car is not necessary due to the pub's prime location 200 metres from the main line railway station.

The Public House (free house) has been with its current owners for over 15 years and is open all day everyday with SIX ever-changing Real Ales on at all times and serves home cooked food Monday - Sunday lunchtimes & Monday - Saturday evenings.

The Pub hosts regular Quiz & Bingo Nights, has a Pool table, Darts & Sky Sports. There is a good sized garden with small play area.

Thurston village has access to countryside walks, and hosts 2 village stores and a Fish & Chip shop all within a 4 min walk. The historic market town of Bury St Edmunds (4.5 miles) hosts twice weekly markets, it has a Cathedral and the Abby Gardens which are a must see if in the area. The town also hosts an array of shops, pubs, restaurants coffee shops and the award-winning Christmas market.

200 metres from main line railway with regular service to Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Stowmarket & Ipswich with easy connections to Norwich & London. We also have Regular bus service to Bury St Edmunds. (not Sundays)

By Car we are 1.5 mile from the A14 junction 46.

Roomy, spotless accommodation with its own pub attached

We had a great stay in these lovely rooms in Suffolk. It is a converted stable, but there is nothing that makes you think it used to be stables. This is an immaculate property, newly redone and very welcoming. It offered plenty of room to spread out and had very comfortable bed and pillows (we ended up buying a pair of the pillow brand to take home with us).

The kitchen was well equipped and allowed us to make coffee and prepare breakfast before heading out for the day. It is centrally located for adventuring out into Suffolk and for traveling for the day to Cambridge. We also enjoyed the town of Bury St Edmunds nearby where we toured the Cathedral and ruins, had a great meal and had a beer in the smallest pub imaginable.

It was great fun to have the attached pub at our convenience. The owner was fun to talk to and all the staff very helpful and willing to meet our any needs. The pub was a busy place and friendly people to talk to. Other than one evening, we were never bothered by noise or activity from the pub and the one night's noise didn't last very late into the evening. On the one busy night, we got the last parking spot, but that was no problem the other nights.

Great place to stsy

We stayed for four nights at the Fox and Hounds and would thoroughly recommend it to others. There is a large lounge/kitchen/ diner, separate large bedroom and large wet room. From outside you wouldn't think there was all that space. Shower is a bit weedy but not too bad. Comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and nice lounge, we eat in the pub every night so only made tea and coffee. The food is awesome in the pub, such large portions, and so tasty and well cooked.Bernie and Mandy who run the pub and the cottage are lovely people. Great to talk to, accommodating, very welcoming. The only thing I would add is that the pub is so popular that parking can be difficult. Perhaps a dedicated space for the guest staying in the pub? We would return in a heartbeat as were so at home there.highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review. I do wish you'd mentioned the Shower!!! It's a power shower and is really powerful, the guests before you had turned the power off to it ( switch on the wall outside the shower room) and my cleaner hadn't realised. I myself did the clean after you and had assumed that you'd turned it off. I can only apologise. We've all now learned to check the switch after every guest!! Hopefully you'll visit us again and get chance to try the shower again. We will also look into keeping a parking space for guests to use as you suggested. Many thanks again. Kind regards

Wonderful Stay

Great little self contained unit. Cooked some great brunches with meat sourced from a local butcher.

Very comfortable well equipped property, helpful staff/owners with plenty to do in the surrounding areas

A Lovely Stay

We spent a week at this super property. Despite some less than perfect weather, we had a really lovely time. The cottage is very spacious and extremely well equipped. The open-plan layout in the living room suited us admirably, as did the super-large bedroom, comfy bed and huge bathroom with power shower. Plenty of wardrobe space and loads of wooden hangers too. The kitchen fitments and utensils are all of a good quality, and the telly is huge! There was really everything we needed for a home-from-home stay, including free wi-fi. Mandy and Bernie, and all their bar staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ate at the pub 4 times and had fabulous meals. A really great week!
