Le Bleuet-A Gite in the Beautiful Normandy Countryside for Families and Couple

Overview

Property

Updated: 11-Nov-2016
3 bedroom gite with access to a shared above-ground pool set in peaceful gardens

Our gites are located in a converted barn adjacent to our home; with a large lawned area to the front and a fully-enclosed garden to the rear there is plenty of room to relax in the Normandy sunshine. Each gite comfortably accommodates up to six guests in three bedrooms and can be booked together for larger parties.

Le Bleuet was reappointed in 2015. Upstairs, bedroom one has a comfortable king-size bed, with a good-sized wardrobe and a chest of drawers; bedroom two is similarly furnished but has a double bed; bedroom three is a twin bedded room with a small chest of drawers, a shelving unit and a hanging rail for clothes. this room is best suited for children. All three rooms are bright and airy, and have small electric radiators for those chllier nights. There is a spacious shower room on this floor with ample storage for all your toiletries.

Downstairs is a large l-shaped open plan living-area with two sofas and wicker armchairs to sit six, a dining table seating six, and a well-appointed kitchen with a dishwasher and a washing-machine, a full size cooker, and an under-counter fridge with a small freezer compartment in the 'l'. There is a tv in the lounge area with the full-range of UK channels and a dvd player (we are more than happy for guests to browse through our dvd collection if they wish), and a well-stocked bookshelf with a good variety of novels to suit most tastes.

At the rear of the property, each gite has a patio area with a garden table and chairs, and a barbecue. Judicious planting helps to screen the two areas for added privacy. The remainder of the garden is shared by each gite, and has a swing set for the under 12s, a large grassy area for outdoor games, a see-saw, and our popular above-ground pool with its own seating area. The pool is unheated, and whilst not large, it does provide an opportunity for a cooling dip in the summer months. The rear garden is fully enclosed, and whilst we request that all children are supervised in the pool and the pool area, the garden itself is secure.

In the unconverted section of the barn is an upstairs games room with table tennis, table football, darts and a variety of outdoor games. This room is used by guests from both gites.

At the front of the property is a large parking area used by all our guests and a further garden area. This is mainly laid to lawn but has a number of seating areas (a hammock, garden swing, and picnic benches). The lawn is ideal for badminton or even croquet, but this is a lovely spot in which to simply sit and while away the hours!

The gites sit well back from the road, which is mostly used by the local farmers, making La Maison Sans Souci a peaceful place to stay.

Please note that guests aged over 18 are required to pay a local visitors tax (taxe de sejour) which is currently set at 44 cents per person per night. This payable on arrival direct to the owner. Our gites are located in a converted barn adjacent to our home, with a large lawned area to the front and a fully-enclosed garden to the rear. Each gite comfortably accommodates up to six guests in three bedrooms.

About the Owner

For years David and I have dreamed of owning a property in France, then in 2011 our dream became a reality. Initially, I moved here in the summer of 2012 on my own whilst David continued working in the UK as an electrician. Finally, David moved here to join me in March 2014. Our love affair with France continues and in May 2015 we finally got married in a lovely ceremony at the Mairie followed by a reception in our garden surrounded by family and friends. France has become our home and we look forward to sharing our little corner with you.

Very high standards of cleanliness, hospitality and lovely rural location

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of five (three teenage children) and we very much enjoyed our stay here. The property was very clean and a high level of hospitality was offered including towel and a stocked kitchen in preparation for our late arrival.

The rural location was incredibly quiet and peaceful, enabling us to walk the country lanes in the late evening. A lovely shared pool with patio seating front and rear.

The setting is also convenient for travel to many local activities such as the beach, horse riding, canoeing and even bungee jumping.

We would happily stay here again

Comfortable gîte in the Normandy countryside

  • 5 of 5

We stayed four nights in this gîte as we had a wedding to attend nearby. Anne-Marie and David were kind and helpful, keen to make sure our stay was going smoothly. The welcome pack (fresh milk, eggs, cheese, ham, bread, butter...) was - most welcome, as we arrived on a public holiday and the shops were shut. The gîte tiself was well-kept, with everything you might need for your stay. The only downside was that there is no separate toilet (but there are plans to remedy that) - which can be tricky with five adults in the house. It's perfect for families with small children, as there is an above-the-ground pool, swings etc, and the back garden is enclosed. We had no problem with noise from the adjoining gîte. There is plenty to see nearby, from the romantic ruins of Hambye Abbey, to picturesque Villedieu-les-Poeles with its bell foundry, to Mont-St-Michel, Bayeux, Caen (about an hour's drive away), and of course the beaches. We unfortunately didn't have time to see everything, but will be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review; we always aim to ensure that our guests have a good stay and it is reassuring to receive positive feedback. We completely agree about having a separate loo and we plan on adding additional toilets to both gites in the near future.

Beautiful, clean and very child friendly

  • 5 of 5

I was so pleased at how child-friendly the place was. Stair gates, night lights, enclosed gardens, even a baby bath on request. The 5 kids that we had were so happy there. We wish we had stayed longer. The house was also beautiful and we were spoilt, dishwasher and washing machine, sun loungers and pool. Even a park for the kids within a picturesque setting. There was a bottle of local cider, cheese, baguette and yummy biscuits on arrival. We will be back!
