About the property

Ideal base for walking and exploring Dartmoor and Devon

The Lodge at Bedford Cottage is a new conversion (2013) which has created a single storey cottage in the owners' grounds. Inside it is light, modern and very cosy. The reception area has a solid wood floor, two sofas and a log-effect stove. The kitchen area is well equipped with all appliances. The bedroom has two zip and link 3' beds that can make a large double, or two generous single beds. There is a modern, en-suite shower room. WiFi available. Outside there is a table and chairs and a patio area for you to enjoy the sun and off-street parking is available in front of The Lodge. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in The Lodge, provided they are not left alone at any time. There is a second one-bed rental property available - The Forge at Bedford Cottage (property number 1783431)

Lovely cottage in a pretty village, close to the pub !

  • 4 of 5

Lovely cottage in a pretty village, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Basically three rooms large living room with dining table, small TV, sofa and two casual chairs, leading from this a double bedroom with en suite.

The owners live within the grounds which is a garden surrounded on two sides by the owners house, attached to which is a second cottage then On an L shape the cottage we rented. Parking is on the garden area which is reinforced grass accessible by a large farm style garden gate. The local pub is very friendly being a matter of minutes away serving good food and some excellent cask beers. The owners are really friendly and helpful, advised us on lovely ares to visit.

Comfortable and bright, a lovely place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. It had a modern interior and was cosy and warm for our autumn break. We had a very relaxing week, visiting some interesting places and taking some beautiful walks. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The village pub served good food, which was a welcome bonus.

The Lodge at Bedford Cottage provided everything we needed and more for a stress free Autumn break. It is exceptionally clean, beautifully equipped and well maintained throughout. This was our first experience of Dartmoor and the owners Andrew and Carol did everything possible to ensure that we were comfortable and well informed about the local landscape, amenities and places of interest. We particularly enjoyed the moorland walk to Wistman;s Wood from the Two Bridges Hotel and the mandatory cream tea to follow. The nearby Drake Manor Inn (just across the road) also provides a cosy environment for an evening meal at the end of a day's hiking. We would highly recommend a stay at Bedford Cottage and are very much looking forward to returning in the near future.

Beautiful cottage, comfortable and quiet.

  • 5 of 5

Very beautiful, comfortable and well equipped cottage in a quiet village. The cottage was very warm, clean and well kept. The owners were very friendly and helpful. This is a great location for exploring Dartmoor National Park, Plymouth, Tamar Valley and Cornwall. There are great walks from the cottage. Easy walking distance to a local garden 'The Garden House' where you can have tea and cake or a light lunch. A very enjoyable trip recommended by the owner was from Plymouth by the Cremyll passenger ferry to Mount Edgcumbe. At the end of the day we enjoyed lovely meals at the Drake Inn within walking distance of the cottage.
