Overview

About the property

Skye Cottage is located in West Milton, a peaceful hamlet in the Marshwood Vale, with wonderful walking country close by, as well as the stunning Jurassic Coast. From the property you look out to Colme Hill and pretty, rolling farmland.

The villages of Powerstock, Nettlecombe and Loders are within easy reach, with their charming village pubs and you are perfectly located to explore the coastline and visit the towns of Bridport and Lyme Regis. Both Bridport and West Bay (the nearest beach) can be reached within 10 minutes,

The cottage was refurbished in April 2016 and offers a high standard of accommodation, (including extremely comfortable, large beds) as well as a pretty, enclosed front garden.

About Kirstie Negus

My husband and I have been coming to West Dorset for over 20 years, as a couple, with friends and more recently with our own children, so know the area well and appreciate what it has to offer different age groups and interests. Our cottage is in a beautiful spot, nestled in a peaceful valley, but close to the coast and towns such as Bridport, Lyme Regis and Dorchester. We hope guests enjoy the house and love the area as much as we all do!

Kirstie Negus purchased this barn in 2000

Why Kirstie Negus chose Powerstock

We have tried to make the house comfortable and welcoming. Guests often comment on how much they love the open fire and the big, comfy beds and peaceful night's sleep.

What makes this barn unique

The house is a modern barn conversion, but was sympathetically done, to retain original features, such as beams and stone.

Lovely country cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is truly lovely, set in beautiful quiet countryside but close enough to West Bay to make it easy to get to.

We had a family get-together, there was plenty of room for us all and the kids loved the bunk beds. We all had a great time and would definitely stay again.

Comfortable accommodation with large beds and a working fire place in a fabulous setting.

  • 3 of 5

Family get together for New Year visiting family and friends in the area and it was an ideal location for this. It was a cosy cottage with a working fireplace and good kitchen. We experienced some issues in terms of the management of the property which we were left to sort out which was not ideal but overall enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your booking; I am glad you had an enjoyable stay at the cottage and apologise again for the issues which have been brought to the (new) housekeeper's attention. New batteries are now provided at the property for the thermostat and smoke alarms, as well as plenty of spare light bulbs. I hope you also felt that the compensation I sent you was a suitable form of recompense for inconvenience caused. I now have a professional management company running the letting to prevent or attend to any issues in future. Kind regards, Kirstie

Highly impressed!!

  • 5 of 5

Our first trip to Dorset and stayed for a long weekend with our two children (4,1).

Cottage was very well appointed wth absolutely everything we needed - attention to detail was fantastic - a big toy box in the living room kept our kids entertained after a day on the beach.

Beds were very comfortable and a travel cot supplied for our youngest. I thought the owner had really considered young families when decorating - beautifully furnished but nothing fragile to move out of arms reach!!

Would definitely highly recommend this property.
