Tamarisk Cottage is located in the upper part of Boscastle in the old 'High Street' and close to Paradise! Tamarisk Cottage is a cosy 17thc traditional cottage and has been lovingly restored by its owners. Just opposite is the characterful 16thc Napoleon Inn and the stylish Bottreaux Restaurant. It is an easy walk across to the coastal path, or down Fore Street with its pretty cottages to the harbour area. It is but a short drive to some fo the best-known surfing beaches on the North Cornish coast. The cottage is an ideal choice for a romantic weekend/short break or summer holiday for a couple with one child. Best, and negotiable quotes for your stay!
Tamarisk Cottage sleeps 2/3 in a pretty double bedroom, and single bedroom. The bathroom is also l upstairs. The sitting room with open fire, original beams is accessed from High Street. There is a good selection of books, videos etc. There is a well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, fridge freezer. The cottage with its many original features, has a homely atmosphere and is well-loved!
The Bradley family have been visiting Cornwall for many decades with their parents and grandparents. Jonathan bought Admiral Cottage (property ref 708602) over 20 years ago, then Tamarisk quite shortly afterwards. We love to spend time in Boscastle as do our extended families, children and grandchildren. We live in Bristol which is quite a short distance down to Boscastle, and we take advantage of staying at the cottages when there are breaks in the rentals. We never tire of the stunning surroundings, the cliffs, the coastline, the walking and visits to many places of interest in this magnificent part of the south-west. Once visited, many people love to come back to Boscastle and our cottages.
Harriet Bradley purchased this cottage in 1996
In 1996 Tamarisk Cottage was in need of complete renovation. It had been lived in for many decades by a local family. It seemed that no local buyer was interested in buying the cottage so Jonathan went ahead and restored it to its former glory, adding one or two modern features eg indoor bathroom with WC! It soon became apparent that the extra space was needed to house our extended family, so we use both cottages for those purposes.
Boscastle, the place, is a real village, not just a holiday centre and is completely unspoilt. The old parts of the village, like the old High Street where Tamarisk Cottage is located has been unchanged for many decades.
Tamarisk Cottage is very charming and cosy. In winter after a day out on the cliffs you can relax in front of the log fire, in summer nothing better than a cool glass of white wine up on the top terrace in the garden to watch the sun set over the cliffs and the village. A completely peaceful experience!
This is the most heavenly cottage. A must is the local Farmshop in the village. There is something for everybody in this beautiful place.
I loved every minute of every hour of every day that I spent here. The walks round here are unbeatable. Even if the weather is rough, it's such a beautiful little cottage it's an excuse to stay in - with the great bonus of the Napoleon just 5 seconds away! Superb thank you!
We have stayed in and loved both the owners' cottages,
Admiral and Tamarisk, and this year have just come back from a wonderful few days in Tamarisk. This really does have the feel of a genuine lived in and cherished Cornish cottage. The kitchen and bathroom are well equipped and the bedrooms and sitting room comfortable and welcoming. The terrace garden up steps at the back of the property has the advantage of views over Boscastle and provides a peaceful and private retreat on sunny days.
Both cottages benefit from being very much part of the old village and the walk down to the harbour and back allows you to justify enjoying the local pasties and ice cream and now the very welcome addition of locally caught crab and lobster from a recently opened shack.
We will be back!
We had a lovely few days at Tamarisk Cottage, the weather was kind to us and we visited Padstow, Bude and Tintagel. One of the best things was being able to walk from the cottage along the coast path to Tintagel, breathtaking views and glorious seascapes. The cottage was very comfortable, especially the beds. Lots of local pubs and food within walking distance. The local farm shop and restaurant were particularly good with amazing views. Sue & Richard
There are many pretty country and coastal walks within easy access of the cottage. The nearest surfing/family beach is at Trebarwith Strand just 12 minutes' drive away. Slightly further afield are Widemouth Bay towards Bude (to the north) and Polzeath Beach to the south. Boscastle offers a variety of dining/drinking possibilities - the Napoleon and the Bottreaux in the upper part of the village and the Wellington and Cobweb down in the harbour area. There are singsongs down at the Welly and occasional live music at the Nappy, Tuesday night featuring the Boscastle Buoys! Slightly further afield is dinner at Trevigue, an NT property, Crackington Haven,Trebarwith Strand and Bude. There are a number of NT properties within easy driving distance. The Eden Project and the lost gardens of Heligan are approximately 50 mins' drive away.
