I have lived in this beautiful part of mid Wales all my life and I farm our family hill farm. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful part of the country.
John Gittins purchased this cottage in 2010
really nice comfortable warm cottage with welcoming owners ideal for dog owners and only just over an hour to the coast however there are quite a few local attractions worth visiting would go again
Just arrived home after a lovely week here. The cottage is the best we have ever stayed in. Very well equipped easy to just turn up with supplies and not leave for a week if you wanted to although would miss the wonderful scenary on the door step. Garden is fabulous overlooking fields (with sheep for part of the week) It is well enclosed so was perfect for our Vizsla and the walk to the river and round the fields was great for him. Can wholeheartedly recommend with no reservation. Do expect rural as stated and do visit Lake Vyrnwy - we went twice!
Stayed for a week mid August with 2 older teenagers and dog. Gorgeous Barabrith home made cake on arrival. Set in tranquil setting and only the sound of birds in trees, sheep baaing and occasional vehicle on little lane running past property. Wifi is quite weak to be fair, it's okay to send messages, make calls and view things but not really strong enough to download anything. Enjoyed BBQ. Garden was lovely and secure for our dog to be let out alone in. Utility room was great for drying damp boots/shoes in. Beds were really comfortable and bedding lovely. Lots of storage space in all rooms. Felt that bathroom was lacking some sort of a cabinet or shelf as there was nowhere to put toiletries apart from to Leave in toilet bag on the floor. Shower was powerful enough and nice and hot. Kitchen had all you needed apart from possibly enough crockery for a family of four for a full breakfast then an evening meal without having to wash up between?
Beautiful cottage, with stunning views all round.
Everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday.
Close enough to shops and lots to do and see.
Perfect for anyone who loves hiking, walking or just relaxing.
Very much enjoyed our stay, would definitely recommend a visit x
The cottage is nice and calculated for 5 people. The amount of crockery and cutlery is just suitable for 5 people. That means the dishwasher needed to work unnecessarily. But that's actually the only real downside. The location is beautiful, it is quiet and at some distance there is everything to do and see. The cake that came upon our arrival was delicious!
Really loved this cottage, beautiful, peaceful, cozy cottage with a very impressive fenced garden. We are a family with children and dogs & we had taken two vehicles, we have stayed at cottages before and parking was scarce and the gardens were small or insecure. Plenty of space to park here with closing gates to keep the dogs from wandering onto the lane. We had everything we could wish for to enjoy a lovely relaxed break and another bonus was there were two large fields right behind the cottage leading to a river - I walked my dogs there before breakfast in my pyjamas without seeing a soul. John the owner was lovely, helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas & we thought the welcoming cake was a lovely touch too. Had the weather been a tad better I think we would have been happy to just laze around the garden all day. My friend has now booked to go in October after seeing my photos on Facebook and we would definitely return.
Rhos y gallt is situated in a beautiful part of Mid Wales where you can enjoy a peaceful retreat or participate in the many activities available in the area.
The cottage is set down a quiet country lane, has a large garden and it's own private river at the bottom of the field with fishing rights. Kayaks and canoes are occasionally seen on the river especially after rainfall. There is an abundance of walks and bike rides from the doorstep.
Take a walk for approximately a mile on footpaths through fields and over a footbridge arriving in the village of Llangadfan where there is a pub called The Cann Office and a vintage tea shop and café called Cwpan Pinc. Both serve wonderful home made meals to eat in or take away. Nearby village of Llanerfyl has a petrol station and the village of Llanfair Caereinon (5 miles) has several pubs, café, wine bistro, Health centre, dental surgery, butchers and grocery shops.
This area is a paradise for walkers with local walks starting from the doorstep. Nearby is the scenic Glyndwr's way, Rainbow trails in Dyfnant forest and Lake Vyrnwy. Both Dyfnant forest and Lake Vyrnwy have different trails for different abilities and both share spectacular views. Cycle hire is also available at Lake Vyrnwy, as well as bird watching and water sports.
Other local attractions include Llanfair & Welshpool light railway, Powis Castle, Montgomery canal, Glansevern Hall gardens and the center for alternative technology in Machynlleth.
There are also golf courses, pony trekking, quad biking, white water rafting, canoeing and ropes course within a short drive.
