Cosy Little Thatched Crogloft Cottage

Overview

Property

Updated: 06-Dec-2016
Ideal for exploring Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire

Comfy double bed on crogloft sleeping platform + sofa bed for additional guests.

Our lovely little cottage was formerly a small milking parlour and dairy and now welcomes visitors to this beautiful part of the Teifi Valley in West Wales. In a quiet rural location along a private track it's the perfect place to explore the area on foot, bike or car. The cottage is perfect for a couple or single guest and has a traditional 'croglofft' sleeping platform with double bed, accessed by an original wooden ladder (there's a sofa bed for additional guests). It has been lovingly converted using traditional stone, slate and limewash combined with modern eco friendly natural materials plus triple glazing, a log stove and luxurious log fired underfloor heating. Close to the market town of Newcastle Emlyn with walks by the castle and river Teifi, guests are in easy reach of Llandysul with it's Norman Church, Teifi Harp makers and Llandysul Paddlers Canoe Centre. From the cottage a lovely walk along leafy lanes and fields will take you up to Pencastell motte and bailey. The surrounding hedgerows are filled with wildflowers.

The sofa bed can accommodate two extra guests for a small additional charge. Please enquire regarding rates for children

Well behaved dogs are welcome. There is a small additional charge of £10.

About the Owner

Gill and Roger have taken much time and care in giving a new lease of life to their former small milking parlour and dairy. They are passionate about Welsh vernacular buildings (Gill works on traditional buildings for her day job) and are pleased to be able to offer the cottage for others to experience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our hosts made us feel welcome and the whole experience was excellent. Thank you for your hospitality and generosity. We hope to visit again.

Croglofft Cottage has much to offer those seeking tranquility and relaxation. Gill and Roger have done such a good job in giving 'new life' to this property, whilst still retaining sensitivity to it's local setting and historical context. We wouldn't want to change a thing!

Great little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Me, my partner and dog had a lovely stay here.

Gill and roger are welcoming and helpful.

Lovely cottage in a nice peaceful surrounding.

We had some great trips out exploring the coast and evenings in with the log fire on.

Although we didn't get the weather we hoped the cottage made the stay!

I would definitely recommend!

Wonderful stay in a lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

The crogloft cottage is a lovely place to stay with its thatched roof, large windows and traditional features throughout. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen ideal for cooking most meals and the living area is extremely comfortable. The house is in a good location for exploring the local area and the Welsh coastline and we managed to visit many local towns as well as some further afield. Gill and Roger are lovely people and nothing was any trouble for them. We would love to stay here again!

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Crogloft cottage for a long weekend and had a brilliant time at the countryside! The cottage itself has such a great rustic character and lovely features like log burner, big windows, cozy kitchen, lovely bedroom.... It was truly everything we wanted - a lovely getaway weekend with my family!

We had a pleasure to meet Gill who is such a warm and friendly person that made our visit even more enjoyable!

Looking forward to our next visit in such a great countryside area.

Many thanks to Gill and Roger for such a lovely stay.

Superb stay in the beautiful countryside (Can't wait to go back)

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I took our puppy to this fantastic cottage in the countryside of Newcastle Emlyn and had a lovely weekend away. The cottage was everything we wanted with the big windows to the cottage features and had all the appliances and features we needed for our stay. It had a lovely kitchen, smart bathroom, stunning bedroom overlooking the cottage and the underfloor heating and log burner made it very cosy. I was all extremely clean and well maintained. The owners Gill and Roger are lovely, they bought us fresh milk and showed us where we could take the dog and gave us details of the area. We didn't really want to leave the cottage but when we did there was lots to see in the surrounding areas with some fantastic walks and sights. Looking forward to our next visit.
