About the Owner

When my husband and I retired from our careers in aviation, we found ourselves spending more and more time in Mousehole. So much so, that we have now moved to the area. We found in Debs Cottage something totally unique in Mousehole. A truly spacious, yet character cottage, in the centre of the village with spectacular sea views. And yes, the beach really is on the doorstep!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed a lovely week at Deb's Cottage. The property was very clean, well furnished and equipped with plenty of everything for up to 6 people. The flowers and bottles of wine were a lovely thought. The beds are extremely high quality and very comfortable, which is quite rare in a rental property. A good night's sleep is vital when there is so much to see and do in SW Cornwall. Mousehole is lovely, bursting with restaurants, bistros, cafés and tea shops - also a good fish & chip shop. Between the general store and the Hole Deli (excellent organic food) all provisions can be found. We feel that it is preferable to support local businesses rather than buying/having your food delivered from the big supermarkets. Quay side parking is just £3 per day - run by RNLI volunteers - just 3 mins walk from the cottage. We would happily return to Deb's Cottage again and are happy to highly recommend this lovely property.

Charming, spacious period cottage overlooking the beautiful harbour of Mousehole.

  • 5 of 5

Debs Cottage is spacious, comfortable, tastefully furnished and charming. A real home from home too as it has everything you need. There were even folding beach chairs for use. We loved the little extra touches that we found on arrival like the freshly cut flowers and the much appreciated tea, coffee, milk and delicious biscuits. The house was impeccably clean and had plenty of storage to accommodate all our belongings ( and we had a lot of stuff as we were a party of two adults and four teenagers!). All front facing windows look out on to the beautiful Mousehole harbour. Debs cottage is an ideal location to simply relax and watch the world go by in this breathtakingly beautiful village( especially from the quaint little seating outside the front) or as a base for exploring nearby Newlyn harbour or Penzance. The bus stop is right outside the front door and the bus runs every 20 minutes. We often used the public transport instead of taking our car. Mousehole itself is gorgeous with stunning sea views, quaint little gift shops and excellent places to eat. We particularly loved eating out in the Ship Inn which is a five second walk from the cottage. The general store is also just a few steps up the road. It has everything you need and if you are a real shellfish lover you can order fresh crab and lobster from the owner who catches it and cooks it on your request. As we enjoyed such good weather our teenagers regularly took advantage of the safe swimming conditions in the harbour. We also enjoyed the many tea rooms, especially Pam's Pantry which does fantastic breakfasts. Booking for this property was really straightforward and Debs, the owner was a pleasure deal with; very helpful and accommodating. I can imagine this to be an extremely popular property to rent so I would advice to book in advance. We simply loved the property and location and hope to return.

Beautiful home, Beautiful place.

  • 5 of 5

Do you want a holiday in a beautiful, spacious, comfortable and clean cottage, with lovely thoughtful touches like folding chairs for the beach which is situated almost outside the door? Do you want to gaze out of the windows at one of the prettiest harbours in Cornwall? Do you want to stroll outside for milk and a newspaper (and a lot else) from the almost next door, tiny general store? If you do, look no further. Everything, and I mean everything is on your doorstep. Walks along the coastline, restaurants for great food, buses to Penzance, lovely ice cream from Bessie's Dairy, wonderful views, lovely, lovely people in Mousehole. Pretty little sandy beach, Owners were supremely kind and helpful. Cottage and Mousehole a dream!

Fantastic cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at Deb's Cottage. Communication was very straightforward and responsive. Debs was great to deal with and was genuinely interested in making sure we had a good stay. The cottage itself is fantastic in terms of space, location and facilities, exactly as described. An idyllic place to stay with everything you could wish for, comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, a wonderful home from home.

Location

From the Owner

Both my husband and myself had careers with an International airline for many years, and have travelled all over the world. When my now husband introduced me to Mousehole, I fell in love, with it. We both whole heartily agree with Dylan Thomas's comment that 'it's the loveliest village in England' In 2001, we purchased Debs Cottage! My advice to my husband (Fiancé at the time)! was 'to buy it, it's pink' (my favourite colour)! And he did! We were married from the cottage later that year, and spent so much time there, that we eventually moved to the area full time, and one day intend to move into the cottage when our current home becomes too much for us. The cottage is regularly used by many of our family and friends. The children just love staying here. Having the beach for their front garden is just so perfect for them. And great for Mum's and Dad's to pop back and make tea, coffee, sandwiches etc through out the day while the children play on the beach. It is the best location in the whole village, being right in the heart of things. And with its stunning sea views, and closeness to all the local amenities, we can't think of a better place to be!

The Cornish Coastal path is famous for its beautiful scenery and walking and passes through Mousehole. The whole area is famous for its beautiful areas to walk in.

Across the bay is Marazion, a pretty little market town, and from there you can cross to Saint Michaels

Mount with its stunning hanging gardens and castle.

There are many National Trust houses and gardens nearby including Trengwainton, Trewiddon, Godolphin House and the famous Tremenheere sculpture garden at Gulval.

The Minack Theatre, a huge amphitheater carved out of the cliff near Porthcurno, is our 'theatre under the Stars' where there are open air performances through out the summer.

Mousehole is about 9 miles from Lands End, and 10 miles from the lovely, bustling sea side town of Saint Ives.

There are many beautiful white sandy beaches nearby including Porthcurno, Porthcurno Chapel and of course Sennen, the world famous surfing beach, approximately 9 miles away.

The recently refurbished Cape Cornwall Golf Club is 10 miles away. It is extremely popular with visitors from all over the country and has spectacular sea views.

Facilities

From the Owner

Debs Cottage is in the very heart of the beautiful village of Mousehole. You can sit and watch the world go by in the bay window of the lounge, and you will never get tired of the stunning view across the harbour and out to sea. The views from the lounge, and front two bedrooms are spectacular. And, being dog lovers ourselves, we are very happy to have your dogs stay in the cottage also. We take our dogs away with us all the time, as they are part of the family, and we would like you to enjoy having your dogs with you too! After all, Cornwall has the most beautiful walks, for people and dogs!
