Overview

About the property

Our lovely four double-bed, two bathroom cottage has an Aga, wood-burner and a huge garden for you to enjoy. It's in a lovely rural location between Perranporth and St Agnes but just a few minutes walk to the coast path and an easy stroll down to Trevellas Cove, a perfect little beach for swimming, rock-climbing and exploring. Surrounded by fields, bordered by Woodland Trust land and with a long private driveway you'll experience the very best of Cornish living here.

St Agnes is just 5 minutes drive in one direction and has several fantastic friendly pubs, lots of independent shops and some excellent restaurants and cafes. Perranporth is 3 minutes in the other direction and there you'll find the stunning 3-mile stretch of golden sands perfect for swimming, surfing and sand castle-making.

The house itself has a large spacious kitchen with an Aga for cooking and which keeps the whole house cosy when needed. The open-plan living and dining room has a large woodburner in a big traditional fireplace and a modern home cinema system that turns the living room into a private cinema at night! There's a dining table that seats up to 10 people and big comfy sofas.

Upstairs are four good-sized double bedrooms with a family bathroom with large bath and electric shower over. Downstairs there's another shower-room off the utility room.

Outside is our a big garden with loads of space to play and trees to climb. There's a trampoline, swing and slide, and a big pond at the very bottom of the garden fed by a natural spring. Behind the house is an artificial lawn with professional wood-fired pizza oven, BBQ, dining table, swing-seats and space for lounging in the sun! In total we have over 2 acres of land.

Downstairs -

Porch with space to leave wellies etc

Utility Room with large free-standing fridge freezer (which will contain a bottle of champagne on arrival!), washing machine, tumble dryer and shower room with large power shower and toilet.

Kitchen with kitchen table to seat six, Aga, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, Gaggia coffee machine and table-top electric oven (for those uncomfortable with using the Aga for all their cooking!). Very well-equipped with more than enough kitchen utensils, cooking equipment, cutlery, crockery and glasses.

Large L-shaped open plan dining and living room with lots of original artworks. Zinc-topped table that seats 10, french doors out in to the garden, large wood-burner with ample wood supplies and l-shaped sofa. Two large comfy sofas to seat up to 8 people. Home stereo with good speakers, CD player, record player and vinyl collection. TV with Blu-ray and DVD player, Sky box and projector, and over 100 DVDs to choose from. Overhead pull-down projector screen that becomes the fourth wall of the living room, giving you a fantastic enclosed private cinema in front of the sofas and surround sound from the speakers. More French doors leading to small rear enclosed garden.

Upstairs -

Large Master Bedroom, dual aspect with superking pocket-sprung bed, sink, chest of drawers and hanging rail.

Three additional double bedrooms all with comfy beds, chest of drawers and lovely views. Two additional single fold-up beds can be added to the rooms if required (high quality Jay-Be beds).

Family bathroom with P-shaped bath with good shower over.

Garden - very large lawned garden with tables and chairs plus big outdoor 'sofa' with French cushions and quilt. Two swings, slide and large trampoline. Pond (often with ducks!) with a small island - please be aware this is unfenced and not suitable for children to be left unsupervised near. Please note areas of the garden have been left untended and naturally 'wild' so there's plenty of exploring to do but watch out for stinging nettles in places!

Long private driveway and lots of parking space.

Amazing lovely home. Really enjoyed our stay.

We have really enjoyed our stay in Cornwall, and this is especially so because of the lovely home. It is very beautiful and welcoming. The area is very scenic and just the way we like it.

The cottage is very spacious and beautifully presented. It just feels like home!

Angela was contactable during our stay. Thanks for making our stay in Cornwall so memorable.

Thanks!

A really comfortable and well situated house

  • 5 of 5

The house was a good size for a party of 7 ,lots of sitting areas ,tables etc . It is clean and well furnished with large bedrooms . St Agnes is around 10 minutes away and the beach is really good for families and dogs on leads - lots of places to eat -our favourite was the Miners Arms .

Only disappointment was the garden - much improved during the week when the gardener cut the lawn - but still a bit overgrown - nonetheless a peaceful place to sit and to eat outside.

A thoroughly enjoyable break- already booked in for 2018 !!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and so glad you had a good week. Really sorry about the state of the garden, we discovered too late that the gardener we'd contracted for the summer just hadn't been turning up. Needless to say he won't be contracted again next year... We look forward to seeing you again in 2018!

A beautiful well-equipped cottage in a beautiful part of Cornwall.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a happy family reunion at Bothways Cottage. It is nicely tucked away down a private drive in a beautiful part of North Cornwall - close to sandy beaches and pretty villages. The house is extremely well equipped and very comfortable. We loved Aga suppers around the large dining table or sitting out on the garden terrace with a G&T. Perfect!

Fab cottage in great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous week in this lovely cottage. Great for children with a trampoline, lovely garden, swings and table tennis.

Inside very comfortable with music to listen to, a piano and a big screen to watch movies on.

Good location near superb beaches.

Perfect Cornwall Holiday House

  • 5 of 5

The house was far better than the photographs showed which was a lovely surprise and absolutely spotlessly clean. Unlike some properties we have stayed in previously it actually did accommodate 8 people comfortably, with enough glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils for large family meals. The garden is fabulous, a real haven.

The owners were very helpful with queries we had about local walks and information and made us feel welcome.

The location should suit all needs as it is close to the fabulous beach in Perranporth and walking distance to the coast path leading to great restaurants and bars in St Agnes. One review mentioned the road and I'm not sure why, it just isn't an issue at all. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return one day.

A little bit of Provence in Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a lovely stay with 2 families in August. This is a real home, not a holiday home, with decor, impressive record and DVD collection (including all the music DVDs you might choose to buy) and books/art to match (we loved the Glastonbury painting). Superbly equipped Aga kitchen. Comfortable beds and linen. The garden is lovely for dining and exploring hidden corners. Don't be put off by the road - we didn't notice it when we were there. Nor is the air-field busy or intrusive - it is one of best preserved WWII airfields in the country & worth a look (apparently a Spitfire crashed into the roof of the house in WWII....). We were interrupted one morning by an impromptu air show put on by an acrobat looping the loop and spinning right above our breakfast table (literally). Spectacular. The St Agnes bakery (5 mins by car or longish but lovely walk over cliffs) is not to be missed - the breakfast pastries are masterful, completing the French feel of the place. St Agnes has great places to eat - with real quality to be found (see Tripadvisor, which lists 21 eating places). It has a lovely little beach community (Koru Kayaks highly recommended); on-beach hire available. Nearest undeveloped beach is either a 30-40 minute stroll or 5 min drive with very narrow (6ft 3") access, but this meant we got a space every time even in August. Or drive 5 mins to St Agnes (the more usual crammed car parks on sunny August days, but it is possible to park up in the village if they are full). Angela and James were delightful hosts - on hand when needed but very discrete when visiting their 'office cottage' next door. (Note for Angela/James: the (brand new) BBQ needs some cleaning kit. Otherwise it is difficult to think of any improvements, other than adding to the herb garden !).
