Boasting its very own indoor heated swimming pool, first floor children’s play room and a games room with pool table, table football and darts, this is a really splendid place to celebrate that special occasion or for that long-awaited family holiday get together. Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, strolling amongst the trees where secret seating areas afford quiet moments of relaxation away from it all. Sherburn village lies halfway between the market town of Malton and the elegant seaside town of Scarborough in the Vale of Pickering, making this an ideal location for exploring the rugged yet stunning East Yorkshire coastline with Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. About Frank

Brookside is owned by Frank and Sandra who live in Filey, North Yorkshire. We bought the property in 2007 and spent 6 long months totally refurbishing the property to get it ready for the rental market. Each year we make improvements, the most recent being refurbishing and tiling the 2 bathrooms and adding a toilet to the shower/changing area in the swimming pool room. We feel that guests deserve to stay in a property that is maintained and cleaned to the highest quality.

We've had many great times there with our family (including Sandra's 50th birthday party) and really hope all of our guests enjoy it as much as we do.

Why Frank chose North Yorkshire

We used to holiday nearby and fell in love with the area. The beaches at Filey and Scarborough are only a short drive away, as is the market town of Pickering and the beautiful village of Thornton-le-Dale. We felt it was the perfect position for both country and beach lovers alike.

We had intended to retire to Brookside, but due to family circumstances, were unable to do so. We love the house and think of it as a second home.

What makes this bungalow unique

Brookside has a large garden with fabulous views over the Yorkshire Wolds. It sits on the edge of the village and is surrounded by fields and has a stream that runs the full length of the property. The swimming pool also affords the same views and has comfy furniture so that you can enjoy the surroundings even if you don't like to swim. It is a very spacious bungalow and we are sure that you will find the surroundings relaxing. We have tried our best to cater for families and the English weather by providing a games room and a children's room.

Amazing house that met our needs in every way.

We spent a week at Brookside as a group of two families. The house exceeded our expectations in every way, the swimming pool is fantastic. It is lovely and warm which meant our children could spend hours splashing around without getting cold. The house itself is spacious and well equipped, we made great use of both the upstairs play room and the games room with the pool table. The beds were lovely and comfortable and huge numbers of towels were provided which was great as we were swimming daily. The location of the house is also good, we enjoyed day trips to York, Whitby and Scarborough and closer to home we visited Malton and Eden Camp which we would highly recommend. We would love to return if we are visiting Yorkshire in the future.

Absolutely superb house with wonderful hosts. Finished to the highest standards the house has everything required for the ultimate stay. Great facilities that cater for all but it's hard to avoid the pool. Would recommended for all requirements. 5 Star!

Spacious, comfortable bungalow with lovely tranquil garden. Great location.

We had stayed in this property last year in August. We enjoyed it so much we booked it again but this time went for July and got lucky with better weather. There was just my wife and myself and our autistic 19 year old staying this year so it felt even more roomy than last year when there were four of us. The pool was a big plus and we made use of it every day. Our son also particularly liked the playroom upstairs which he was able to use as his own retreat.

The property was clean, well equipped and maintained and some improvements had been made on the previous year including an attractive refurbishment of one of the two bathrooms.

Some of the locations we enjoyed visiting this time included Bridlington, Sewerby Hall & Gardens, Filey, Filey Bird & Animal Garden, Scarborough, Scalby Mills Sea Life Centre, North York Moors railway (Pickering to Gromont), Flamborough Head (North Landing) and Hunmamby Gap. Can recommend all of them. On one particularly hot day we stayed at the property and entertained some visiting family in the shady garden.

Coast/Beach - aporoximately 15 minutes to drive to either Filey or Scarborough beaches.

Distances - Brookside is inbetween Malton and Scarborough, with beautiful views of the Yorkshire Wolds. Whitby, with it's ruined Gothic Abbey and links to Dracula is 40 minutes drive away, while the ancient city of York is less than an hour's drive.

There is a Doctor's surgery, pub, fish and chip shop and two small shops in the village. Morrisons supermarket, McDonald's and a Hungry Horse pub are only a 10 minute drive away.

They are separated by the lounge and kitchen, making it ideal for two families to share. Travel cot supplied free of charge, but you need to bring own bedding.

  • Please note that smoking is not allowed in the property. Two highchairs and a travel cot are provided free of charge. Free access to BT wifi is included. The bungalow is maintained to a high standard having been totally refurbished in 2007, however, we continually decorate and make improvements each year. There is a patio at the rear of the bungalow with wooden garden funiture. Bedding, linen, towels and heating are included in the price. The bungalow is professionally cleaned before each stay. The gardens are serviced by a professional gardener.
