About Robin / Helen Annett

We live in Hitchin but have been coming down to Christchurch for many years to enjoy the milder weather, sandy beaches and sailing.

Robin / Helen Annett purchased this bungalow in 2014

Why Robin / Helen Annett chose Dorset

We bought our holiday cottage 3 years ago and spent several months renovating it into a modern open plan space, ideal for our family or for relaxing with friends. We hope you will love it too. The house is filled with sun light and the walled garden quiet and full of birds.

What makes this bungalow unique

The house is in amazing location with easy access to the beach,Hengisbury Head nature reserve and to the pretty town of Christchurch with many bars and restaurants. We rarely use the car when we are down, walking or cycling everywhere. The house is in a peaceful cul de sac so is suitable for families but not for loud parties.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I would like to say how much we enjoyed our week in your lovely bungalow. Everything we needed was provided and it was beautifully clean on our arrival. The open plan living was great for all our family being together and the beds were very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness as the photos don't really do it justice. We were lucky with our weather at the start of our week and were able to enjoy the barbecue provided when family arrived to visit. The beach is close enough to get to and return to the bungalow for lunch and a rest before setting out for the afternoon . We enjoyed ferries to Christchurch and Muddeford and the children loved crabbing off Muddeford Quay. Hengistbury Head was also a favourite walk. When the weather was not so good on the last two days we found Adventure Wonderland which the two younger grandchildren enjoyed (ages 7 and 3). My husband and I would be very happy to return on our own sometime as we love the area and would feel very relaxed in your house.

Beautiful, light airy home.

  • 4 of 5

A lovely spotlessly clean modern home. Extremely well equipped, plenty of folding chairs for snoozing in the garden, comfy beds in a very quiet cul de sac. Ideal for a relaxing break just moments from lovely walks along the riverside. Just 2 niggles, the en suite in the double bedroom extremely cramped, I struggled to get my arms up to wash my hair in the shower & the loo is jammed up against it. Silly really because there is ample room in the bedroom for a proper size en suite. The other toilet is separate from the main bathroom & is also a snug fit. The main bathroom has a lush shower however. I only mention those niggles because my parents are elderly, I got used to wedging my bum into the en suite loo, but only used the main shower after my first abortive attempt! Generally I would recommend Sans Souci for a delightful holiday in a perfect location. The Waitrose delivery man was impressed too! Had it not been for the en suite issue it would have been a definite 5 stars.

Great place apart from lounge suite and toilets!

  • 3 of 5

The house is very well placed for travelling around the area by car and for local walks. It is probably the best equipped self catering facility we have stayed in in over 40 years of such holidays. The beds were comfortable and the house was bright and modern.

However, for our party there were 2 problems which brought the star rating down to 3. The first was the lounge suite which was extremely low with the seat level being about foot (30 cms) off the ground and for anyone with health issues like bad knees or back or anyone really tall, it was difficult to get in and out of. There were two couches in the conservatory which were comfortable but if you wanted to watch TV, you had to use the lounge suite even though the conservatory is actually open plan to the the lounge, dining and kitchen areas.

The second problem for us were the toilets. The ensuite toilet pan has very little clearance between the shower and the wall (2-3 ins (7cms) and 5/6 ins (12cms) respectively) and for the well built in the party, this made using it either very difficult or impossible. This was also true of the main toilet which was in a separate "room" (maybe more accurately a windowed cupboard) from the bathroom that had shower, bath and washhand basin. It was slightly wider, but the placing of the boxed in sink just in front of the toilet brought the space available for the above average height and well built party members to a difficult level to use. I do realise that for children, those of average height and weight and those without back or knee problems, the house would be fine!

Wonderful family accomodation

  • 5 of 5

The open plan nature of this bungalow enables all family members to have 'space' yet be together on holiday. Spacious light and airy and well equipped. Perfect location for exploring the area including Bournemouth and Poole. Highly recommended.

Very comfortable property with a superb living area including an amazing conservatory.

  • 4 of 5

This property had a brilliant open plan living area which was great for a family holiday. It was very well equipped and was in a brilliant position for exploring the area. We only used the car twice because there were so many places we could walk to. The bedrooms were good although the ensuite was small. The main bathroom was very spacious though.
