Family House. Stunning Views. Quaint & quiet village.

The property comprises of a ground floor kitchen, living room and conservatory overlooking the Estuary/River Torridge. Upstairs there is a double-bed (sea view) and a twin bed (plus cot) on the street side, plus bathroom (bath & shower). Downstairs there is another double bedroom, a bunk bedroom (for two) the second bathroom and a utility room (washer & dryer). Plus outside, at this level, is the sea-side courtyard (but enclosed,protected). Parking is available on the Quay, and at the large public Quay car park, 1 minute away.

About Richard

I am one of 4, who grew up coming to Appledore as a kid. North Devon was where my father was from (his father was the local doctor). We left Devon as a family a long time ago but retained our link through this place.

Clean, comfortable and located in a beautiful spot

The Old Boatyard is a wonderful cottage for a family holiday, built on the estuary side of Irsha Street, close to the main Appledore carpark.

The layout of the cottage is ideal for two families to use, as there are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the top floor; the lounge, kitchen and the conservatory are on the middle floor, at street entrance level; and two further bedrooms and a bathroom are downstairs at courtyard garden level.

The cottage is extremely well equipped, as it is used by the owners, and the checklist provided is very useful for the things you won't need to bring. Lots of toys for children, and the opportunity to fish for crabs off the sea wall at high tide.There are books and dvds too, but you won't need any of them as the view from the conservatory will take all your attention!

One point to note; Irsha Street is one way, and very narrow. Unloading the car develops skills of speediness and team work. Don't be harassed by drivers coming up behind you, but expect one or two to lack patience! Parking costs about £3 per day, and you can pay on your phone using the Parkmobile app.

The village has everything you need, although you may pay a little more for groceries in John's. There are pubs and coffee shops dotted about; nice gift shops and places selling local art. Appledore has a real community feel about it, with the gig teams and the RNLI crew being at the heart of the place. You don't need to venture out of the village for a relaxing stay, but the beach at Westward Ho is a draw for a long walk at low tide.

One other note; Appledore is very dog friendly, so if you have a problem with Rover and Fido being allowed everywhere, it may not be the spot for you. On the other hand, our two love it, especially all the free biscuits!

Very fair and accurate, albeit I'd point out that I have not paid a penny for parking in 30+ years of coming to Appledore as a driver, always managing to find street parking on the top road. There is always that option for the cheap! Please come back, you'd be most welcome.

Splendid view, what a nice place to make holidays

We spent a very good time in the Boat Yard in Appledore. A very comfortable house, well equipped, especially the kitchen. Cooking, eating and enjoying ourselves in the brilliant conservatory with the gorgeous view over the rivers Torridge and Taw. We will keep this place deep in our minds.

If you like you support the local library, just buy a few things in Walter’s Emorium, opposite of Richmond dry docks. Do not forget to visit the local shop John’s, very friendly and the Beaver Inn, not far away from the Boat Yard.

Stunning house. We loved every second.

What an amazing house. Clean, tidy, comfortable, warm and the view was amazing. Appledore is a fantastic place to visit with lots to see and do. We spent a wonderful 7 nights enjoying the area and coming back to enjoy the house in the evenings. We honestly wish we could of stayed longer and we are already talking about our next visit.

Spacious, well equipped, homely home from home

The Boat yard in Appledore met all our expectations. Ample room for us with six adults and two children over the weekend. We spent evenings in cooking and eating together in the conservatory which even though it was October maintained a nice temperature with the central heating. A log burner would also add to the warmth in the winter months. Bedrooms clean and attractive with great views across the estuary. Parking ample on main Appledore carpark just a short distance away.

Appledore was a charming little place with plenty to see and do locally. Local people very friendly. Would without doubht return to property and Appledore
