The cottage is a converted stable attached to our 300 year old Somerset farmhouse. It has been recently modernised and tastefully decorated using lots of vintage paintings and colourful cushions and curtains. The cottage has high beamed ceilings and a stone floor with rugs. It has a modern open plan living room with log burner for cooler nights and kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, oven etc. There is a modern shower room in the middle of the property. Attractive outside eating area with seating and bbq with views over the farm. There is a laundry room with a washing machine for your use in the barn nearby.

Bed linen and towels are included. If you need towels for swimming please bring your own.

The property is strictly no smoking both in the cottage and outside on our farm.

We are very well placed for Exmoor, it is only a few miles up the road. The coast is 25 minutes away, Kilve is famous for fossil hunting and Blue Anchor is nice with a good cafe (The Driftwood). Dunster is a lovely historic village with a famous National Trust castle.

About the Owner

Catherine and Patrick live in the farmhouse with their three lively young children. We also have a dog who spends most of her time outside, lots of chickens and there are sometimes pigs, ponies, interesting sheep and geese on our land as well. Whilst our guests enjoy their holiday we are busy working around the farm. There's usually some project going on here!

Comfortable cottage in beautiful area.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage with lots of character on a small farm. Children loved the animals and play area. Owners friendly and welcoming; useful extras like small shop on site. There are lots of great days out in the surrounding area, but you do need to be prepared to drive a way to find them! Not much to do in the immediate vicinity. However, would definitely recommend.

Fantastic cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at this fantastic cottage.

We have stayed in many cottages over the last 20 years and I have to say this is probably the best of the bunch.

A stunning cottage, super comfy beds, stunning bathroom, lovely kitchen and living room and fab views of the farm. We all loved visiting the animals.

A very warm welcome by Catherine and Patrick, very helpful and friendly.

We would highly recommend this cottage and would love to visit again in the future.

An excellent place for those seeking peaceful countryside break

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at Middle Stone Farm cottage with my partner for 3 nights between 16th -19th of July. We have had one of the best countryside breaks at this lovely, cosy, comfortable and very quiet cottage, situated right next to the farm which is run by lovely and very friendly owners Catherine and Patrick. The owners are only there if you need them within a telephone call. You can buy local products directly from the farm if you run out of milk, free range eggs, water etc. Breakfast and dinner meals are also available, do ask on arrival for details. The cottage has a patio and bbq area with a spectacular view over the hills covered by farm's animals. Brilliant place to sit back, relax and enjoy the view having a bbq.

We will be certainly staying at Catherine's cottage again!

Thank you to you both for having us at your lovely farm.

See you soon xx

Wonderful farm stay

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful 4 night stay in lovely cottage surrounded by beautiful countryside. Many things to explore in the area, but it hardly gets better than sitting on the terrace watching the chicken, geese, goats and alpacas. Highly recommended!

Beautiful barn and location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights at the farm cottage and had a wonderful time! The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed and more! Catherine also very kindly provided a highchair, travel cot and big box of toys for our 16 month old. We loved walking the lanes and visiting the animals. Catherine and Patrick were lovely hosts and we wouldn't hesitate to book again when visiting the area. Thank you!

Location

From the Owner

We are surrounded by wildlife, there is a lot of birdlife here, especially the swallows in the summer. Exmoor also has stunning scenery to walk, cycle or drive through. This area of Somerset is relatively undiscovered so it's quieter on our roads than it is in some of the coastal areas of the South West.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Exeter at 31 Miles Nearest Barpub : Wiveliscombe at 3 Miles Nearest Ferry : Plymouth at 75 Miles Nearest Golf : Oake Manor at 8 Miles Nearest Train : Taunton at 11 Miles Nearest Motorway : M5 Taunton at 17 Miles Nearest Beach : Blue Anchor or Kilve at 11 Miles Car: necessary

We are surrounded by wonderful green rolling hills and farmland. We are very rural although Wiveliscombe is 3 miles away for small shops. There are lovely walks and pubs with good food nearby. Exmoor is 10 minutes away and the Quantock Hills are 15 minutes. Kilve on the north coast is great for fossil hunting, there is a steam railway 10 minutes from here. The famous Dunster Castle (National Trust) is 20 minutes drive towards Minehead. You can reach the south Devon beaches in under an hour.
