Wow, highly recommend this large spacious and well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned home from a fantastic week in this cottage. The weather certainly helped our beach holiday go so well but we couldn't of had a better base. A spacious family bungalow very well equipped for keeping my 4 teenagers happy with wifi, freeview tv, games table and plenty more. The beach was fantastic and dog friendly in August which is brilliant, with a few local shops for all your essentials and the town of Aberystwyth about 30 minutes drive away we found it a truly enjoyable holiday. A really good value for money accommodation which was both comfortable and ticked all the boxes highly recommended

Lovely bungalow with living space and a great location!

  • 5 of 5

As a group of 8 we were happy with the space we had in the lounge to share time together but also the amount of space in each bedroom. Both bathrooms worked really well and we had no problems using any other utilities. The beach is just along a short path directly from the house and found this a great convenience. We never ran out of things to do despite not having a car as the house had variety of things we could use (for example the BBQ and small pool table!).

Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are glad that the bungalow worked so well for you all, and that you were able to keep yourselves amused and have a good time even without a car. I think you had come post-exams, so good luck with the results and in the future. Regards, Fiona.

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in this property for probably the best week of the year so far in terms of the weather! We had sunshine everyday and so being a 2 minute walk away to a virtually deserted beach was ideal! We also enjoyed the sand dunes in the evening and watching the beautiful sunset. The area is beautiful with many amazing walks to enjoy for all abilities. The property is as described and 'does what it says on the tin' - we were a party of 9 and there was plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils for all our needs. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

From the Owner

Summer holidays with building sandcastles, exploring rockpools, beach games, swimming, surfing, fishing and golfing are what dreams are made of for children and adults who don't want to grow up alike. With walking, mountain climbing, horse riding, bird watching, cycling, sailing and other water sports all within easy reach, it is an ideal place for an outdoor holiday for all ages.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Barpub : Victoria Inn at 2 Miles Nearest Golf : Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club at 1.5 Miles Nearest Train : Borth Station at 1.5 Miles Nearest Restaurant : Borth Tandoori at 2.5 Miles Nearest Beach : Borth and Ynyslas at 200 Metres Car: recommended

Nearby Borth (1.5miles) is an old Victorian seaside town strung along the seafront with a range of traditional, cafes, fish and chip shops, and art and craft shops. Upper Borth beach has an area of rockpools which are great for children to explore as well as an area of beach supervised by lifeguards in the summer season.

Machynlleth and Aberdovey lie to the north along the beautiful Dovey estuary. The former is a charming market town [markets on Wed am], with the Celtica experience, Centre for Alternative Technology and Raptor centre nearby. Aberdovey is a very pretty seaside town.

For wildlife lovers the area is unsurpassed, with the Borth Bog wetlands/ Dyfi nature reserve, and sand-dunes surrounding Ynyslas supporting rare and prolific wildlife, the RSPB/Osprey project at Ynys-hir, and the Red kite feeding centre at Nant-y-Arian. Ravens, peregrines and seals can be seen on cliff walks south of Borth, and dolphins are commonly sighted in the bay.

For walkers there are cliff walks, farmland and forestry commission, the beautiful Reidol valley, and the stunning mountains of the Plynlimon range and Snowdonia.

There is golf at Borth, Aberdovey and Aberystwyth, [all good 18-hole golf courses] and a smaller charming 9-hole course [pay and play] at Capel Bangor, a few miles inland. Fishing, swimming, surfing [lessons at Borth], sailing [Aberystwyth/Aberdovey], and horse-riding are all available.

For children there is an Animalarium at Borth, a butterfly farm at Capel Bangor, and the fascinating Llywernog silver mines in the hills near Nant-y-Arian where you can go underground like miners of old. The Reidol narrow gauge steam railway runs out of Aberystwyth along the valley to the waterfalls at Devils bridge- a great day’s excursion.

The larger town of Aberystwth [20 mins by car along the scenic coast road] has a wide range of impressive Victorian buildings, shops, supermarkets and restaurants to suit all tastes. There is a cinema, leisure centre, good museum, castle, pier/promenade, and excellent theatre/gallery [at the university] which puts on very good summer productions.

All in all this area of west wales has something for everyone who likes getting out and about!
