A spacious 10 bed apartment located on a quiet marina in the High Peak Area

The Bikeshed is situated on the Upper Peak Forest Canal at New Mills Marina in the foothills of the High Peak District. The property has been recently and lovingly restored maintaining its rich history and period features.The Bikeshed sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms, a double en-suite bedroom, a further double bedroom a 4 bunk en -suite bedroom and a 2 bunk en - suite bedroom. The property comprises a large reception area with a large bathroom shower room. The main living room and lounge has a large dining and seating area, a fully fitted and fully equipped kitchen and breakfast bar. There is a large balcony with seating that provides excellent views across the Upper Peak Forest Canal, Kinder Scout and surrounding hills. The property is centrally heated and has a multi fuel stove for those colder evenings. All logs, kindling and coal if required is supplied within the price of the let. There is a BBQ and seating area located directly outside the door in a beautiful sunny aspect, grassed area. The property has television, DVD player and WiFi.

The town of New Mills is but a walk away and has all amenities that you will require throughout your stay. Local grocery stores, supermarket, post office, restaurants and pubs are all within a 5 minute walk away from the marina.

The property is ideally suited for hill walking, particularly Kinder Scout and surrounding hills. The canal towpath provides less challenging, flat walking to Whaley Bridge and Buxworth Basin in one direction and Disley, Marple and beyond in the other direction. The towpath is ideally suited for cycling and the Monsal Trail a 8.5 mile traffic free cycle route is a short drive away.

The property is close to excellent transport links. A reliable bus service connects New Mills with local villages such as Buxton, Bakewell, Glossop and Chapel - en - le - Frith while train services connect to Manchester and Stockport.

Really nice property

This was perfect for 8 of us and could have easily slept a couple more.

Lovely big living / cooking / eating area and nice big table for everyone to sit around, eat, chat, play games etc..

A fantastic property - would love to visit again

A group of ten adults and children - we stayed for four nights during the school summer holidays. What a fantastic apartment! - beautifully fitted out with everything we could possibly need. It is in a great location, walking distance to town and the station, but also with fabulous walks right from your doorstep. Pete was a wonderful host and great help - thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Great location, picturesque, great to explore waterways and peaks

Apartment was large with a fabulous kitchen and balcony with lovely views. Had canoes with us to use on canal. Walked up and down Kinder Scout. Lovely walks elsewhere too.

Very comfortable, great to meet up with friends and family. Great beer rom Torrside brewery below.

Dark Horse

The BikeShed really is a wonderful stay. Can fit 10 people easily and the facilities are plentiful. It's location within the peak is ideal for runners, walkers, pub attenders and adventure seekers. There's even space to moor a canal boat should you so choose.

Peter was very helpful the entire time and we were blessed with some excellent weather. The lounge is not done justice from the photograph, you could easily fit many more people in it than meets the eye.

To improve, there could be more seating space around the fire and make even more use of all that space. That said, this was a superb find. ^_^

I'll be back.

Perfect for groups!!! Lovely manager!

The house was perfect for my group of friends. The beds were comfortable, the balcony looked over the beautiful canal and the kitchen was well equipped for the 9 of us (two ovens helped to make sure there was food for all our food). The house was located in walking distance from shops and pubs. It was in a caravan park which was quiet at night. The manager (lady with pink hair) was an absolute star and made our stay special, checking in with us every day to ensure we had everything we needed! Would definitely recommend to all big groups! X

The area is famous for its caves and all of them are worth a visit. The walking and cycling is superb with easy access straight onto the towpath.

A great area to visit for an active, outdoor holiday.
