About the property

Le Limans Gites

Also look us up on Facebook under Le Limans Gîtes.

Le Limans offers three new Gites. Ideal for couples, families or group. Two have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. They have been converted from the barn attached to the farmhouse. The third is a 1 bedroom Gite set across the courtyard with hot tub. Whilst offering modern facilities, open plan living, dining and kitchen space, we have retained some of the quirky charm of old french properties. Each Gite has french doors leading to it's own patio furnished with facilities for outside dining. All of the Gites have English and French TV, DVD and WiFi and well equipped kitchens with washing machine, dishwasher, fan oven, electric hob and fridge freezer. The modern insulation coupled with traditional building techniques keeps these Gite cool in summer and warm in winter. The walnut grove offers plenty of shade and space for games or relaxing in, whilst the sun terrace around the 6m x13m solar heated salt pool is a perfect place for unwinding and watching the eagles soar on the therms.

About Tom and Rachel

This is our new retirement adventure! We fell in love with the walnut farm and live in the farmhouse. So different from teaching!

The new Gites with magnificent swimming pool, spa hot tub, tranquil grounds and blissful views are our way of sharing a small slice of this haven. Le Limans is a tiny hamlet but the folk around us have made us so welcome and part of the community.

Tom and Rachel purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Tom and Rachel chose Perigord Vert

Le Limans is a perfect place for unwinding and recharging your batteries. Set on a hill we get those wonderful warm french days and stunning views. These new Gites are great for families, groups or couples. It is a great base for sight seeing in the Dordogne with Perigueux, Brantome and Bergerac about an hour away. Not to mention some lovely french villages linger over lunch.

Walking and cycling are wonderful ways to appreciate some of the stunning scenery in the Perigord Vert and we can arrange cycle hire, with all the relevant safety equipment if you wish.

Set in the Dronne valley there are plenty of opportunities for water based activities, such as canoeing and of course lazing on the river beaches, by the lake at La Jemaye or horse riding through the rolling hills. Aubeterre, with it's stunning underground Cathedral, buzzing square and winding alleyways and river beach is about 15 minutes away.

At the end of June and beginning of July the Cognac music festival is said to be one of the best blues festivals and not to be missed. Not to mention an opportunity to both see and sample the local tipple!

In August, the nearby village of Epeluche holds La Fete Nautique. Amazing creations float down the river! Watch the extravaganza, enjoy the food stalls and stay on for the music and fire works.

For car buffs The Circuit International des Remparts D'Angouleme is held in September.

What makes this cottage unique

So much or so little to do. Relax and unwind in this tranquil spot, venture off for a range of activities or do a combination. The 6m x13m solar heated salt water pool is a fabulous place to relax in after a hard day on holiday! For those of you choosing to stay in L'Ermitage there is the added benefit of a spa hot tub on the patio.

Soak up the last rays of the sun on your own patio, watching the birds soaring, or star gaze as the night turns on it's show!

Whatever you choose we are sure you'll enjoy being here as much as we do.

Just a perfect retreat.

Mmmm, what can I say..

Well, the Tom and Rachel are probably one of the most nicest people you will ever have the privalage to meet, nothing is a problem and they enjoy nothing more than informing you were to eat and see.

If you love wine, vegging in the sun and pool, good food, photography, seeing nice places and history ect then your onto a winner here, the setting is sublime.

The gites are amazingly clean just as the pool. The gites are spacious and support all the mod cons while retaining their French characteristics. Rachael and Tom are very cleanly and its absaltuly paramount to them that your rental is to an hygienic standard that they would expect to have if they was staying there.

From enquiry to booking to payment to travel instructions, Tom and Rachel have put much thought into everything and we found everything easy.

On arrival Tom and Rachel welcomed us with open arms, they handed over an immaculate property, they even went out of their way to put some milk, bread, wine, cheese, tea and coffee in the kitchen for us to get us going until we could get to the shops. Throughout our stay they were non intrusive and had a great amount of respect for our privacy.

If you like cooking then you will hit it off with Rachael and Tom, they grow most of their own fruit, veg and herbs, they live nothing more to share it with you, they are always giving food parcels of what's ready from the garden to eat. We had this couple Over to eat one evening and we had nothing but good wine, good food and fantastic conversation.

Children will love this place just as much as adults, Tom and Rachael cater for children's needs very well.

If you don't want to drive a lengthy journey through England and France then have no fear, Tom will greet you at Bergerac airport, once your settled in then you have the loan of the pool car to get about in throughout the juration of your stay.

The place is heaven, from start to finish the whole holiday was perfect.

The drive home was quite emotional, Tom and Rachel came to see us off at half past stupid o'clock, they insisted we contact then on arrival home to let know we were safe... We was bubbling as we drove away.. 😢򘠽򘨢😢򘠬

This property is an extension of their home so I would advise that if you go then please extend some respect. They are fantastic folks and love to give so please leave the place as you found it.

Go and see for yourself, You won't be disappointed ..

A beautifully created, calming hideaway

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place - Rachel & Tom are an amazing couple, who go out of their way to ensure that your holiday is as perfect as possible. When first walking into the gite you get the impression that you are the first person to stay there - the properties are immaculately clean and of an extremely high standard throughout and come equipped with everything that you may possibly need; we even had our own hot tub on the patio, along with a gas barbecue, dining table and sun loungers. A point to note, the tap water is fine to drink, but more than that, I don't think I have ever tasted water as good and that tasted as clean and pure....something to do with Tom having a filter system I think.

This extends to the quality of the water in the pool....now the pool is just something else - it is a salt water pool, so no sore eyes or skin and a cleaner, more well kept pool you will be hard pushed to find. Surrounding the pool area Rachel has created a relaxing garden, where she also grows her own produce (which tastes wonderful by the way); extending beyond are simply the most beautiful views of the French countryside.

It is a perfect place to relax and unwind, but if you do want to get out and about Tom and Rachel are happy to share their knowledge of the local area and will recommend eateries, places to visit and things to see or experience; nothing is too much trouble.

This was my first visit to this area of France and I fell in love with it.....I would like to hope that one day I will get the chance to return...

Thank you Rachel and Tom for helping to make it so special.
