About the property

Newly Restored. 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Terraced Gardens And 12 Meter Pool

This seventeenth century stone farmhouse enjoys a spectacular setting in the heart of Umbria. It over looks the Spoleto Valley with stunning views across to the city of Spoleto in the south and to Assisi in the north. The house forms a separate part of our larger home, which remains unoccupied during visits from guests to guarantee your complete privacy. The swimming pool is not shared. Recently restored, it has a marvelously quiet and restful atmosphere. Surrounded on three sides by 1 hectare and a half of olive trees, fruit trees and vines, it sits on the edge of a picturesque village set halfway up a hill crowned by a fifteenth century ruined castle. Our house manager is available to help with all your needs. English and Italian are spoken. After a day exploring the area, should you wish for an evening dinner to be prepared she is happy to arrange this for you as an extra service.

- An upper garden with a pergola. A dining terrace. A lower garden with terraces and large swimming pool (12m-5m).

- There are two double bedrooms that can accommodate up to four guests. The bedrooms can be configured as King-size doubles or twin beds depending on your requirements. A baby cot is available.

- Two bathrooms, one with bath and shower, one with shower.

- A large living room with mezzanine balcony.

- A fully fitted modern Kitchen-dining room which opens onto the terraces and garden.

- A Utility room - with washing machine.

- WiFi

- Private gated parking.

All bed linen and towels for the bathrooms and the pool are provided and changed once a week. The pool is cleaned once a week.

The garden with its many olive trees, vines, fig a fruit trees is regularly tended throughout the year and watered during the summer months. Please feel free to discuss times with the house manager that are convenient for you.

Fabulous pool, lovely characterful home, stunning views - beautiful, historic Umbria - go for it!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful holiday with family in Poreta and relaxed instantly. September weather was great - hot days, cooler evenings, still warm enough for night-time dining outside.

What we loved most:

- Large, clean, single-depth pool (adult shoulder high) with awesome views across valley

- Sunny terrace outside kitchen where we chilled, watched sunset and ate most of our meals

- Lots of friendly local restaurants to suit every taste and budget. We ate well!

- Fresh pasta shop in the village; buy to cook for yourself

- Modern kitchen with good quality equipment and utensils

- Brilliant village wine shop with interesting local wines

- Walking - try the 11km route along Roman aqueduct from Spello to Collepino

- Easy drive to medieval towns like Assisi, Gubbio (cable car is a must!) and Montefalco

- Only 40 mins from Perugia airport so additional family could join us for the weekend

- Black and green figs and yellow plums delicious in the garden

- Good wi-fi connection

- Last and certainly not least - the amazing Bianca who manages the house. We were slightly worried about privacy when we booked but everything turned out exactly as described. The big house was vacated, leaving us completely alone. Bianca met us in the village and showed us up to the house; she later quickly organised a small carpentry repair when needed (our fault); she never ever intruded. She and Sylvia (the owner) ensured our stay was completely relaxing and were very sensitive to our wish to be helped 'from a distance'. Thank you!

Our only other comments would be:

- There are a number of steep steps/drops inside and out so we wouldn't recommend for little ones or anyone unsteady on their feet

- Four more kitchen mugs would be useful

- A few more coat hangers helpful (fighting for these!)

- An extra main door key would be handy for guests

Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Wonderful location in stunning Umbria

  • 5 of 5

This house is all about the view and the pool! We spent many hours lying enjoying the view and swimming in the perfect pool. The house is in a lovely little hamlet with a fantastic castle and restaurant at the top which you must visit for dinner. The farmhouse was comfortable though small - but nice and clean with everything you need. We were met by the lovely Bianca who was on hand with any help or advice we needed. We loved our stay and hope to return to Poreta one day...

Views to die for

  • 4 of 5

We stayed two weeks in this lovely villa, the views from all terraces, the pool and the sitting room window were breathtaking. Bianca who manages the property is a legend, she is a wealth of information and speaks great English. Her recommendation for a local restaurant called Fontanelle was invaluable, it was by far the best that we had visited, so much so that we went twice and allowed the owner Elisabett to bring us her choice of food. Oscar, who looks after the gardens was also a pleasure to meet. The house was well equipped and enabled me to create my own Italian dishes on the days that we stayed in. I would recommend it to anybody who wants a peaceful and relaxing stay in arguably one of the best regions in Italy. It is close to Spoleto, Spelo, Perugia and Assis.

Owner's Response: Dear Jenny and Neil, we all hope to welcome you again some day. Even after many years here, we feel both at home and also having only begun to really know all that the region has to offer. Many thanks.

Paradise! A gem in Umbria!

  • 5 of 5

We found paradise in Umbria! We loved it so much that we came back for a second year, but this time for almost 2 weeks. The property is... Perfect! Well located in a a beautiful 16th century village, very quiet and calm, but close to amenities (fresh pasta, wineries, groceries and markets). Perfectly located for day trips to Spoleto, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto and lovely Umbrian villages. The view from the house and the pool is breathtaking. The house is so comfortable and well equipped (a real kitchen!). Julian, the owner, is super responsive and will provide good advice. You will be greeted by Bianca who will be able to answer all your questions, provide traveling advice and share her love of the region. We have found paradise and we will definitely come back!

Stunning Poreta!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful property - the farmhouse has been restored very sensitively with beautiful new bathrooms and a great kitchen. The pool is huge with unbeatable views over the valley. You could happily spend all day just relaxing by the pool or on the terrace taking in the countryside views. Assisi and Spoleto are easily reached by car, and there are some great local restaurants nearby. If you like beautiful unspoilt Italian landscapes and great culture and food at your finger tips I can't recommend this place highly enough.

We found paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We found paradise in Umbria! The owner was extremly helpful in answering our questions before our arrival. We were warmly greeted by the property manager who answered our queries during our stay and helped us plan our daily trips in the region. The house is fantastic and well equiped, the views oustanding and the location great for exploring Umbria. The house is located in a small charming XVIth century village; the village church bells will remind you of the time of the day when you are enjoying the pool and the views. In the next village (a 5-minute drive) you will find a fresh pasta place, a bi-weekly fresh vegetable market, a small grocery store and a wine store. Our only regret was not booking for a longer period. This is truly a piece of paradise. We will definitely come back!
