The Firs is our home, a wonderful Victorian house in it's own grounds, Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Tucked down a quiet lane it is a very peaceful spot although just a few minutes from the high street.
Some of the best features of the house are: it's spacious open plan country kitchen/diner which is the hub of our home and great for for spending time eating and drinking around the kitchen table.
This year 2017 we have had lovely new kitchen units and work tops fitted.
There are beautiful views of the valley and our garden from every room.
We have an en-suite wet room and traditional family bathroom complete with a large roll top bath ..perfect to unwind in after a day exploring North Devon.
We now have fitted carpets upstairs in 3 bedrooms and the landing...another new for 2017!
The lovely kids room with bunk beds and also they have a separate living room off the kitchen to play in/watch Dvd's away from the adults.
For the Adults we have a 42" Tv and plenty of Dvd's, c.d's and books in the large living room. Also a log burner if there's a chill in the air.
The house Is decorated in a combination of relaxed French/coastal/vintage style!
Anyway we hope you will find it has a comfortable and relaxed feel.
Outside the delightful gardens are south facing.
There is a lawned area at the front where we love to sit on the bench with our morning coffee.
There are 2 sheltered sun trap courtyards on either side of the house,one has a rotary clothes line and is enclosed so very useful for storing surf equipment and beach paraphernalia etc.
There is a kettle BBQ for your use in the courtyards.
Our favourite is the wonderful large sun deck with fantastic views. Complete with dining table that seats 8 and 2 sun beds,you can sit there until the sun goes down. It is the perfect spot to unwind.
The rambling woodland garden is on 2 levels with a large tree ( with swinging hammock chair) at the top.
There's plenty of room for kids to run around ( supervised of course) and kick a football. It is a relaxed woodland garden with several Apple trees.
We also have some outbuildings which we are renovating to let out eventually!
From the house it is an easy 10 minute walk along the high street to our lovely cove with 2 beaches. And all the shops cafes and pubs.
There is also a shop/post office, and a lovely pub Just up the road..children and dogs welcome.
We have an extensive drive which can accommodate up to 4 cars, this is a major bonus for a holiday home.
But once you're here hopefully you won't have to use your car too much!

Excellent holiday cottage
Our three grown up children thought the cottage was fab and our dog had a great holiday too.

We moved to Combe Martin In 2014 from London after finding this unique property.
We have absolutely no regrets about moving here, what's not to like.. We're in an area of outstanding beauty, we have beaches and Exmoor on our doorstep. So many Artists and craftspeople around, interesting market towns to shop in, farmer's markets, plenty to do with visiting family and Grandchildren, the list is endless!
Combe Martin is a really friendly village with practically everything you need on your doorstep, so if you don't want to travel you don't have to! We hope you will love the place as much as we do.

Excellent holiday cottage
We had a great time. The cottage is in a great location with shops and local pubs nearby. The cottage is spacious and the bedrooms are a good size. There are large secluded gardens and ample car parking.
Our three grown up children thought the cottage was fab and our dog had a great holiday too.
A PROPERTY THAT FULFILLED ALL EXPECTATIONS AND MORE. FANTASTIC GARDENS THE CHILDREN LOVED IT.
PARENTS CHILDREN GRAND CHILDREN (8 IN TOTAL) AND BUZZ ONE BLACK LABRADOR TOGETHER FOR ONE WEEK.
OUR FIRST IMPRESSION AFTER A 200 MILE JOURNEY CULMINATING IN A VERY CAREFUL DRIVE ALONG A NARROW LANE WAS YES WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. THE SETTING JUST OFF THE MAIN STREET OF THE VILLAGE IS EXCELLENT WITH VIEWS ACROSS THE VALLEY TO THE HILLS COLOURED BY A VAST EXPANSE OF BLUE SKY. THE PROPERTY IS ONE OF THE BEST WE HAVE STAYED IN AND WHILST THERE IS A LOUNGE THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT IN THE VERY LARGE KITCHEN WAS CONSIDERABLE AS A PLACE WHERE ALL THE FAMILY CAN SIT TO EAT AND PLAY GAMES.
BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS ALL MET OUR NEEDS AND THE SMALL TOUCHES PROVIDED ON ARRIVAL WERE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.(WHAT WERE THEY YOU WILL HAVE TO STAY TO FIND OUT !).
WE WERE BLESSED WITH MAINLY GOOD WEATHER AND MADE FOR THE BEACH AT WOOLACOMBE WITH ITS MASSIVE EXPANSE OF SAND GENTLY SLOPING INTO THE SEA AND WHERE WE WERE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE DOG. GREAT TIME HERE WITH BODY BOARDING AND ALL THE USUAL BEACH FUN INCLUDING DIGGING A VERY LARGE HOLE FOR THE CHILDREN TO PLAY IN AND WHILST CAR PARKING IS NOT CHEAP THE ABILITY TO GET TO A PART OF THE BEACH THAT IS UNCROWDED OUTWEIGHS THE PRICE.
IN COMBE MARTIN THE BAKER IS A MUST WONDERFUL BREAD AND CAKES MADE ON THE PREMISES ALONG WITH OTHER LOCAL SHOPS ABLE TO PROVIDE MOST OF OUR NEEDS ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE FROM THE PROPERTY. ALSO ONLY A SHORT STROLL TO THE FAMOUS PACK OF CARDS FOR A TASTE OF THE LOCAL BREW.
EXPLORATION OF THE ROCK POOLS IN THE VILLAGE AND THE CAVES IS A MUST FOR THE CHILDREN MAYBE SLIGHTLY EMBELLISHED WITH PIRATE TALES WHILST WE WERE THERE.
FOR US THE DRAW OF THE AREA WAS THE SEASIDE AND A PROPERTY THAT WE COULD ALL ENJOY. THERE ARE MANY ATTRACTIONS TO BE FOUND IF YOU NEED THEM EXCELLENT WALKING ALL VERY CLOSE.
OVERALL WE EXPERIENCED A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY IN A LOVELY PART OF THE COUNTRY AND A PROPERTY THAT YOU CAN LIVE IN AS YOUR OWN ALBEIT IN OUR CASE ONE WEEK. OUR RECOMMENDATION TO ANYONE THINKING OF "THE FIRS" IS DO NOT WAIT TO LONG AS SOMEONE ELSE WILL BEAT YOU TO IT.
Great home for family Easter holiday
What a welcome - daffodils in all the rooms, Easter eggs and a couple of bottles of wine on the table - a lovely light, clean and warm home. Especially enjoyed the large well-equipped kitchen with the Aga (only at Easter) and the wood burner, as the weather was very mixed. Garden was great for Easter egg hunt and egg rolling with the grandchildren, 13, 11 & 2. Easy walk to beach through village and good location: children enjoyed kayaking from the beach, then we went west for surfing at Woolacombe and east for exploring Exmoor. Vivienne very helpful and answered queries very promptly. Great bakery and farm shop butcher in the village plus several well-stocked general stores and various pubs and eating places. Thanks for sharing your home.
Great House and Location
The house was even better in reality than the photos with a good location with great deck to enjoy sun and views over towards the national park. Beds all really comfortable and huge kitchen made it easy for family meals etc. Property was clean and welcoming. Easy walk into the village and well placed for trips to all the main beaches and national park walks. Vivienne was really helpful before the visit and had some great suggestions for places and activities-the walk up to Great Hangman is just across the village and well worth it for the views.
We had a wonderful week and would book again if we wanted to be in this area.

We expect the house to be left clean and tidy but that can be quite stressful at the end of your holiday! If you would like the cleaning done for you please let me know and I will get a price from the changeover ladies.
We ask for a 25% deposit up front to secure the booking with the remainder paid 8 weeks before your arrival date.
The £150 security deposit is also to be paid then, and will be refunded by bank transfer once the property has been checked after your departure.
Cancellations before the 8 weeks will be refunded in full.
Cancellations within the 8 weeks will forfeit 50% of the deposit.
