The Fernery is a four bedroom self catering holiday home, showcasing contemporary style and design. This stunning, eco friendly holiday accommodation is set in the perfect location to absorb the tranquility yet within easy reach of North Devon's outstanding coastline and countryside. Luxury is highlighted throughout The Fernery from the internal design to the hot tub set amongst the tiered decking and garden area. Master bedroom 1 is situated downstairs offering a particularly spacious, warm and light suite with a king size bed, open plan dressing area with feature twin basin unit. This bedroom also offers the privacy of a luxury spacious en-suite bathroom with feature roll top bath, walk in wet room shower, contemporary toilet and stylish basin with feature waterfall tap.

Master bedroom 2 - Upstairs, featuring a unique curving room with plenty of warmth and 5 windows boasting valley views. This perfectly appointed room offers another king size bed and ample wardrobes coupled with the luxury of a walk in 'wet room' with shower, modern basin and toilet.

Bedroom 3 - a spacious, double height bedroom with twin beds and ample storage, benefitting from views over the back garden and a large Velux window with blackout blinds, ensuring plenty of light and warmth. The family bathroom with bath, separate shower, modern toilet and basin can be accessed directly from bedroom 3 as an en-suite bathroom or as a family bathroom accessed from the upper hall.

The dining area with table and chairs is perfectly positioned alongside the full length glass patio doors, perfect for absorbing the tranquil setting.

The Fernery also provides the added benefit of a large dining table and 8 chairs with parasol positioned on the sun trap patio area - a most desirable setting for al-fresco dining! To the rear of the property is the a tiered decking/garden area with private seating and sun bed providing the perfect place to chill out. Guests can also explore the other levels of the elevated garden offering additional seating alongside the character summerhouse - full of charm and warmth - is sure to be a favourite for many families, offering the perfect escape to wind down following an adventurous play on the wooden fort with climbing wall and swing. The upper garden level has panoramic valley views, and is a beautiful place to enjoy the bird song, swaying trees and ever changing sky.

The Fernery's secure double garage with remotely operated electric doors provides the perfect storage area for up to 2 cars and all your bikes and surfboards.

We love The Fernery in North Devon to enjoy the amazing beaches, countryside and relaxed lifestyle. Now the children are older, we are spending more time up country so we decided to rent our amazing home so other can enjoy it too.

Jonathan Reeves is an architect who grew up in Somerset in the West Country. Heidi is a mum and nutritionalist, and we now live in the Midlands, but love visiting Devon often.

'The Fernery’- A spacious and contemporary, architect designed, 4 bed eco home in North Devon. We have been visiting this part of North Devon and fondly remember family holidays there from a young age. Its a truly magical part of the world, and offers the Uk's best beaches and wonders of Exmoor on the doorstep.

We love Woolacombe for its long stretches of sandy beaches(voted the UK's best beach and in the top 10 beaches in the world!) Croyde is a cool and hip place to vista and enjoy the trendy pubs and cafes and amazing surfing culture. Ilfracombe is a vibrant and stunning victorian harbour town with some great restaurants and pubs, and theres always lots of festival and events to enjoy.

On days when you don't fancy the beach, you can enjoy the wonderful tranquility of the gardens of The Fernery. Slide open the doors,step onto the terrace and enjoy the birdsong of the surrounding valley. Its truly mesmerising, and you might find it hard to leave! The Tarka trail and Slade reservoirs are beautiful and just a few minutes walk from the house.

If you are feeling more energetic, explore the best of Exmoor with its incredible walks, the South West Coast path, and wonderful places to visit. Our favourite walks are Heddons mouth from the amazing Hunters Inn pub, Watersmeet, from the national trust centre, and Bull Point from Morthoe.

The Fernery is perfect for cyclists who can enjoy some great rides from the house, and store their bikes safely in the garage. North devon is a surfers paradise with a wide range of beach breaks to enjoy at all times.

The best thing about The Fernery is the feeling of space, light and air. Its the perfect place for families and large groups to enjoy the indoor/ outside lifestyle.

What makes this house unique

We love the spacious open plan Kitchen/ Dining Living with opening onto raised terrace overlooking the beautiful lush Slade valley within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Fernery is true architectural eco design and is very warm and cosy with underfloor heating, a wood burning stove, solar panels and sunny south facing orientation.

It is wonderfully peaceful and away from the crowds, yet so conveniently located for the some of the UK's best local beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde Saunton, Lee and Ilfracombe, and sightseeing across Exmoor. Sometimes on sunny days we love just chilling at home, and enjoying the gardens and hot tub. Then towards the end of the day when the beaches are quitter we go down to Woolacombe or Ilfracombe to enjoy the sunset and some amazing food and drinks by the beach

There is a large garden on several levels with great views and private decking area to the rear. Here the private hot tub offer the perfect place to truly relax. After all that what holidays are all about!

Impressive, Immaculate and absolutely stunning!!!

We chose The Fernery as our accommodation for our wedding party.

First Impressions from pulling up onto the drive was WOW! The building, landscaping and the surrounding area were stunning.

Stepping inside the WOW factor continued, the attention to detail and decor was excellent and the small touches like scones & coffee made it feel homely and inviting.

We had a fantastic week here and would highly recommend getting the hot tub!!

We look forward to staying again sometime in the future.

Fabulous property

The house was really fabulous , it was every bit as good as it looked on the photos ! It was so spacious and light , we had lots of room and space for all 3 couples ,baby and 2 dogs . We loved the bifold doors and the decking area was wonderful - it was just a shame the weather didn't let us use it much !! Hot tub was super and was such a 'pick me up ' when tired ! The decor is super and really enjoyed looking at all the pictures and ornaments . The kitchen is very well equipped and it was a lovely touch to have scones , preserve and clotted cream left for our arrival ! It is such a comfortable and lovely house ! The only slight grumble was that although there were 3 TVs we could only get the living area one to have television programmes on ! Maybe some instructions left would help ? With the weather being very mixed ,occasionally it would have been nice to have made use of them . However , the property is very much a '5 star 'and we look forward to returning to it .

North Devon is a hidden gem in the South West of England. It is probably best known for its great surfing beaches, and a lot of the tourism around here is geared towards surfers, walkers and family holidays. The Fernery is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) with in the sweeping lush valley of the Cairn Nature Reserve between Ilfracombe and Lee Bay.

The world class beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton and Putsborough are all within 10-15 minutes drive although there is a lot more to do if surfing isn't your thing. The coastal path is beautiful and Exmoor is within 10 minutes walk, so there are tons of great walks with beautiful scenery. The nearby Tarka trail is a long cycle route that follows much of the coastal path, and is very popular with families who can be found cycling with kids on pull-alongs, trailers, tandem bikes etc, and is directly opposite.

The Southwest coast path follows the coast behind the house, and can accessed within 10 minutes walk. If you have children there are quite a few days out that are great for kids, and we can suggest a whole variety of activities that will keep you going. Have a look online for the Big Sheep, the Milky Way, Watermouth Castle, Lynton Cliff Railway, Rosemoor, and Arlington Court (NT). If you fancied travelling further afield, you can also access south Devon and North Cornwall easily within a few hours, so a shopping trip to Exeter is easily within reach.
