This penthouse or Atico in Spanish, is on the 8th and top floor and is shared equally with our own apartment. In 2014 we bought it and have used more than a year bringing it up to a modern top quality standard; we did the best money and our Norwegian and Spanish architects could come up with. The last 20 years we have provided accommodation to discerning clients in i.a Cannes who are prepared to pay for quality. We hope this apartment shall meet with your highest requirements.

The terrace has a glass and alu enclosure which gives you a free view of the sea, the beach, the harbour with the fishing boats, the lighthouses, the coast to Alicante and the distant towers of Benidorm. From the living room, the dining room and two of the bedrooms you may view what goes on in the beach and at the sea. The third bedroom called Captain's Cabin is to the back of the apartment and suitable for arranging for a desk and computer for those who stay long term.

The wall towards the beach have floor to ceiling sliding doors or doors that may be opened like an accordion to give direct access to the terrace and view of the beach and the sea. The dining room with its accordion windows is open-ended to afford the pleasure of dining al fresco on warm summer's nights overlooking the beach and sea. Large awnings are installed over the terrace to give shade from sun, wind and neighbours. The height as well as the unencumbered placement allow for cooling winds; if that is not sufficient, all rooms have independent air conditioning that may provide heating in the winter. Where the floors are not heated, they are of oak parquet. Water is produced by gas and electricity.

About the Owner

I was born at Kirkenes in Northern Norway at a time when the Russian and Finns were fighting next door and half a year before the Germans occupied our country. My mother was foresighted moving south to the then peaceful Narvik-area. But how long was Adam in Paradise ? When peace finally broke out, I grew up a happy country lad enjoying the forests, the sea, skiing and farming. My subsequent schooling took me further south to Fauske, Minnesota, Sandefjord and then to Bergen where I got my Bachelor at NHH. Curious about the outside world, I spent a year in the Congo, a few years in Paris as a banker, two years in Stockholm as a business manager, in Odda and Sarpsborg in the heavy industry and finally 9 exciting years as finance director in then the largest offshore drilling company in Europe. When it was sold my architect-wife decided I ought to strike out on my own and become an investor/developer. Among the things I have enjoyed the most is buying, renovating and renting out apartments. This I do in Oslo, Cannes and Villajoyosa.

Stunning Apartment Beautiful location The Best

This is by the far the best rental property I have stayed in , the apartment is simply stunning, beautifully decorated ,best of appliances ( nothing missing) a location a couple of hundred yards from a crystal clear sea and golden sand safe beach.

The owner is charming and helpful ( if in residence) and leaves no stone un turned to ensure his guests have a fantastic experience right down to a detailed overview booklet. Not 2 often your thinking of your next visit before you have even left.Home from Home.

Flott nyrestaurert toppleilighet på stranden!

Leiligheten er rett og slett fantastisk! Det er en totalrenovert toppleilighet på stranden og på strandpromenaden i Villajoyosa. Den har alle moderne fasiliteter. Alt er lyst og lekkert. Terrassen er prikken over i´en. Den har direkte utgang fra to av soverommene, samt stue og spisestue, med sol hele dagen. Utsikten og soloppgangen over Middelhavet er formidabel. Kort avstand til dagligvarer, bakeri og restaurantene. Beliggenheten er meget familievennlig og rolig.

Vertskapet er forøvrig svært vennlig og imøtekommende. Dette er et sted vi kan anbefale.

Vi vil gjerne komme tilbake!

Stayed here with a friend in June and had a wonderful time. The property has been newly refurbished and the landlord has done a spectacular job. It is spacious, well decorated whilst still being modern and classy. Everything was clean, comfortable and all our needs were met. The property is right next to the beach, in a great area with a remarkable view. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family looking for an enjoyable stay.

Possibly the best rental in villajoyosa

Very clean, comfortable and well thought out. Our landlord was quick to accept our minor problems and sort them out. We shall definitely recommend this property to friends and shall be rebooking later this year.

Un ático fantástico

El ático es igual que aparece en las fotos: muy bonito, amplio y funcional y con vistas al mar desde casi todas las estancias. La gran terraza es estupenda. Se encuentra en un pueblo pintoresco y tranquilo con una playa limpia y de arena. El propietario y la señora que recibe a los inquilinos son muy amables.

Location

From the Owner

After more than a year of search up and down the coast of Spain, we had what the French call a "coup de coeur" when shown our penthouse apartment in Edificio Nuria. The previous owner is an engineer/architect and that showed. After together having renovated this first, we wanted to take a closer look at the other rooftop apartment. We had not seen anyone there at all and it turned out it had been vacant the last 6 years. The former owner was a French countess or "La Marquesa" as they called her. She lived out her final years here together with her somewhat younger Air France pilot in retirement. A colourful couple according to local gossip. The Marquesa is honored with her portrait over the bar in the living room and the Commandant à Bord with memorabilia in the Captain's Cabin aka double bedroom. The renovation had to be all encompassing and we were greatly assisted by our very capable local engineer/architect.

This part of Spain lives by tourism. Of this they are aware and do their very best to make us feel at ease and welcome.

Within an hour's drive you find one of the largest theme- and amusement parks in Spain, the Terra Mitica, the Aqualandia, the Magic Natura, the Go Cart course outside Villajoyosa and more to amuse the family and the junior members. If you can take them away from the beach and the free as well as paid amusements available ! While the kids wear themselves out on the beach, you may sit watching them from the terrace of your apartment; you may even holler and they hear you. The view is unfettered - and we provide binoculars for those who wish to have a closer view, be it of kids, beauties or trawlers coming home.

We could not stay in a fishing village and not watch the catch being brought ashore, displayed and auctioned off at a very sofisticated TV-, digital- and well staged manner. A must if you wish to see modern Spain at it's best. Here you may see any and all species you are going to be offered at the many good fish restaurants in town.

Talk about eating and drinking well ! We know Scandinavia, but also France, but we have now chozen Villajoyosa in part because life is comfortable, easy going, friendly and reasonably priced. Spain has adjusted to the "crisis" by lowering prices and wages. Therefore the grocery- and restaurant bills are way below what we have experienced elsewhere. In part this may be because this place is not overrun by foreigners; the spanish themselves set the tone in the supermercados, the weekly open air markets and the restaurants.

People are keen on excersising - and we do a bit of cycling, a two kilometer walk up and down the beach in the morning or during the weekend a 12 kilometer walk along the coast from Villajoyosa to an ancient moorish tower overlooking Benidorm, catching the tram back home. Do wonders for a bad conscience from a week of good living.

And have you opted for a longer stay, say, over the winter, you may, if you so wish, find places, associations, clubs, classes, restaurants and neighbourhoods in towns within half an hours drive where your countrymen and women congregate.

The renovation was accomplished in the spring of 2014 and we are thrilled by how spacious and light the apartment has become. We opened up the living- as well as the dining room to the terrace with floor to ceiling sliding doors and replaced the railing with glass and aluminium. Our view of sea, beach and town is unimpeded and unrivalled and the height on the 8th floor gives us privacy.
