Also equipped with cosy central heating and benefitting from pool access and close proximity to the Ski resorts, the holiday home offers a carefree haven for all seasons.

Internally, its bright and welcoming interior is contemporary yet homely; with an effortless open plan feel that is ideal for relaxed holiday stays. The luxury bolthole is fully-equipped too with all your home comforts, including free WIFI and a flat screen TV with DVD player.

The lake views from the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room set a beautiful backdrop for socialising, relaxing and entertaining. Guests can curl up together on the sumptuous L-shaped sofa, or dine away in style to the chic dining table for 4-6. Bellano:

Bellano, situated along the beautiful eastern shore of Lake Como, is a pretty and unspoilt panoramic lakefront town which makes a pleasant and more peaceful alternative to staying in its neighbouring resort town sister of Varenna.

The town offers a wide variety of very good local restaurants, bars, shops and offers excellent transport links with a main line Lecco-Milan train service and road links to the ‘Superstrada’ motorway which takes visitors southwards towards Lecco, the historical Industrial capital of Lake Como.

A local ferry service also operates to a selection of pretty villages along the eastern shore and the car and passenger ferry port at Varenna frequently operates throughout the day and evenings to the famous golden triangle resort towns of Bellagio and Menaggio as well as to Villa Carlotta in Cadenabbia.

In Bellano visitors can also enjoy activities ranging from tennis, swimming at the family friendly Lido, sunbathing on its popular beach and enjoying a short hike to the famous ‘Orrido di Bellano’, the Gorge of Bellano, an impressive rocky gorge with an incredible waterfall created 15 million years ago by water erosion and today providing a fascinating spectacle. The attraction can be reached along the specially built walking platforms which run through the gorge and past its many mysterious caves and rock formations.

Foodies can also immerse themselves in a Ristorante II Caminetto Cookery lesson, enjoy an authentic evening aperitif or dine away in style, at one of the many romantic restaurants.

Those looking to get out on the lake can make a splash with Varenna’s power boat and kayak rental service or with a classic boat trip experience on the ‘Taxi Boat Varenna’. The family-friendly public lake beach at Lierna is also within easy reach from the holiday home; just 18 minutes drive away (and just 8 minutes drive south of Varenna). Bellano is also just 35 minutes drive from the Sailing schools and annual Regattas on offer in the historical northern resort of Gravedona.

Walkers are equally well catered for; with the Sentiero del Viandante trail and Orrido di Bellano gorge walk on the doorstep in Bellano, and the hillside trek from Varenna up to the medieval Castello di Vezio serving as the perfect lake view setting for enjoying a family picnic or falconry display.

From Varenna, the frequent car and passenger ferry offers a carefree way to reach Bellagio, Menaggio and Cadenabbia. In Bellagio, visitors can enjoy immersing themselves in the wide array of gift shops, charming restaurants, Villa Melzi gardens and fashionable day-night Lido here, as well as an adrenaline-fuelled day up in the trees at the Civenna Jungle Raider Park (23 minutes drive from Bellagio), or with an extreme outdoor activity at the Bellagio Outdoor Sport Centre.

In Menaggio, the scene is set for a picturesque day of ice creams, Lido fun, mini golf, boat hire and even championship Golf; up amongst the scenic fairways of the prestigious Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club (10 minutes drive from central Menaggio). From this central western shore resort, Lake Lugano is also within easy reach for day trips, just 20 minutes bus/drive away.

Also perfect for enjoying a wintertime break, the convenient central lake base of Bellano offers close proximity to the Italian Alp Ski resorts of Piani di Bobbio (41 minutes drive from the apartment) and Madeismo (76 minutes drive).

Located just 27 minutes drive from Lecco, 68 minutes drive from Como and 88 minutes drive from Milan, guests are perfectly placed for enjoying a cosmopolitan day out too!

Milan Bergamo Airport is also just 76 minutes drive away – for carefree year-round travel.

Golf:

There are Golf clubs around Lake Como: The Menaggio & Cadenabbia Golf Club is Italy's oldest golf course. Established in 1907 with 18 holes Par 70, it is located above Menaggio near Croce, in Grandola ed Uniti, approx. 20 min. by car. Green Fees: Weekdays €55, Weekends and Holidays €70 Euros; Golf Cart Rental €36.

Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended.. Guests are always welcome, please call beforehand to check course rules. Golf Club Menaggio: (Menaggio Como).

Skiing:

This beautiful lake region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its scenery, crisp air and near perfect visibilty and mountains capped in winter snow. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out.

There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema, not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border.

There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs.

The closest major ski resorts are Madesimo and St. Moritz toward the Splugen Pass, which is approx.100km.
