Stunning Detached Stone Mas, (Catalan Farmhouse) Sleeps 10 Plus Baby & Toddler

Mas Rouby is a beautiful detached stone Mas (Catalan Farmhouse) built 1800. Sympathetically restored to modern standards whilst maintaining the style and character of the house, with ancient beams, stone walls and original windows. Private swimming pool, large enclosed garden and parking.

It is situated on the edge of the medieval village of Joch and surrounded by peach and cherry orchards. The farmhouse has stunning views across the orchards to Mount Canigou, a mountain with symbolic significance to the Catalan people.

Mas Rouby is built over 3 floors plus cellars and benefits from a large kitchen/diner of 37 sq.m (400 sq.ft), a comfortable living room with a wood-burning stove. On the first and second floor are 5 spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite), a shower room and a separate WC.

The cellar has been converted to provide a useful utility/boiler room.

The character of the house is maintained throughout with exposed beams, revealed stone walls and original windows.


Outside provides plenty of choice and a tough decision on where, to dine al fresco, put your sun loungers, or to relax in the evening sunshine. There are beautiful views all around that you can enjoy whilst eating, swimming or just strolling in the professionally-designed garden.


The 8m x 4m swimming pool has an adjacent family dining table and a BBQ. It has a childproof fence so the children can play safely in the garden with out fear of them falling in the pool.


Large kitchen dining room ideal for large groups or families. The table is big enough to get the whole family together. The open plan kitchen area is really well equipped with everything you could need to create sumptuous dinners or a quick snack. It has a large fridge freeze (to keep the wine cold), large format cooker with gas hobs, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and much more.


The lounge is great for all the family to congregate around the TV to watch a film or just to relax. The wood burner makes the room lovely and cosy in the cooler winter months. There is also a desk in the lounge for those that need to keep up with a little work during their stay, to help with this Mas Rouby has a good wireless internet connection.


Bedroom 1 - Master bedroom; king-size bed with en-suite bathroom

Bedroom 2 - King-size bed

Bedroom 3 - Zip-lock beds, which can be used as 2 large singles or a superking-size double

Bedroom 4 - 2 single beds

Bedroom 5 - Day bed, converts to a single, 2 singles or a double. Or alternatively can be used as an extra sitting room (We use it as a music room full drum kit supplied)!

All the bedrooms have good storage, the mattresses in bedrooms 1 - 4 are pocket-sprung, and those in bedroom 5 are memory foam.


We also have a rigid cot and a child's cot-bed available (these can be positioned in the room of your choice if requested).


The house has a large family bathroom, a shower room with WC, a separate WC and an en-suite bathroom.


There is ample secure private parking next to the house.

Lovely family farmhouse

This property wants for nothing: views, climate, facilities, space - all with the feeling of cosines.

The interior is both spacious and well-furnished without being fussy; the garden, patio areas and pool are perfect.

Superb stunning place to stay

Just what we needed. Stayed in this beautiful farmhouse with family. Area is so peaceful but with easy access to all amenities just a few villages away. You can tell the owner spends time at their property due to the equipment available and how it feels cosy and homely despite being large. I could imagine a couple on their own or a large family/families enjoying every moment here. Will definitely be returning soon!! Thank you.

Home from Home

It's clear that this property is someone's home from home. The attention to detail in the extensive renovation of both the house and gardens comfortably accommodated 9 of us with space for more to a high standard with he quirks of an old property. The house is equipped for foodies, with all of the appliances you could hope for in a holiday home, through to fresh herbs in the garden. The location is rural and close to a good road network - costal beaches an easy drive. Views from all sides of the house amazing and for the energetic some great walking, running and cycling into the mountains. The pool quickly warmed up to a balmy 30 degrees with but a day of June sunshine. Don't be put off by the lack of reviews, just make the most of its 'new to market' perks, we highly recommend it, our family of 5 adults and 4 kids (under 4yrs) have some fantastic memories - the kids are still talking about it! Finally, the property management was great, a couple of niggles sorted out quickly, the garden stunning and the house spotless.

The area is renowned for it's outstanding beauty and you can set off on walks and hikes from the front door and immediately be on a trail.

A favourite area for both road cyclists and mountain biking.

There is a beautiful mountain lake in Vinca, only 3 km from Mas Rouby, it is surrounded by hills and mountains and you can use the lake for non motorised water sports and swimming. The lake has a beach area popular with locals that is patrolled in the summer season by life guards.

The village of Marquixanes is only 10 minutes from Vinca and has an adventure park where you can climb with safety equipment in the trees, there are zip wires over the river, cargo nets etc. You can also go tubing down the river and other sports.
