'Beach House' was built from Bermuda stone, quarried across the street, in the late 1800s. It has been expanded and maintained over the years, ensuring that its unique charm is preserved without sacrificing comfort. Cozy bedrooms have Bermuda cedar beams, the dining room is cedar paneled, and the living area is open and spacious. A full country style kitchen with island and eat at table looks out onto the back courtyard, and the front patio offers space you will use everyday. 'Beach House' is also just steps from the private Marley Beach. Conveniently, it is directly on the South Shore bus route, there being stops directly at the property gate.

Perfect home for an amazing family vacation!

Really fantastic property for our family of six. The house is much more spacious than it appears in the pictures; especially the kitchen and master suite. The kids loved the bright colors and eclectic décor. The house was well stocked with towels, sheets, laundry and dishwashing supplies. There were plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, and a cooler for our use. Beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for us to unpack and spread out. The kids loved rinsing off in the outdoor shower after a day at the beautiful beach. There is no bathtub in the house. Both bathrooms are shower only. There was a highchair and pack & play available for our use. The ocean water can be a little rough on the South shore, but there are these amazing tide pools that are perfect for the little ones to splash around in. Gordon, the property manager, was incredibly helpful and quick to respond to any inquiry. We were able to preorder groceries which made our lives incredible easy. Getting around the island can be a little tricky. We bought weekly bus passes but found the schedule a little challenging; especially after 5:00 PM. We ended up using cab's to get around. My last bit of advice is to keep the doors to the master suite closed. There is a breezeway between the master suite and the rest of the house. Critters (little frogs and tropical bugs) can get into this hallway and make their way into the house if the doors are left open. Overall it was a great week. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful house and beach!

House was 5 stars. Gordon the property manager is first rate. The beach is private and beautiful. The only thing that resulted in less than a perfect rating was the beach was difficult to access. I would say not for anyone who has any physical difficulties or for small children.

Gorgeous beach/ great location!

GOrgeous beach!!! Very convenient to have bus stop at the end of the drive. Central location for almost everything on the island. Close to Hamilton and South Shore pink beaches. My only recommendation is to add a few kitchen conveniences: i.e. Measuring cups & spoons and a few more cooking utensils.

Great Location, Private Beach, Old Style Bermuda House

This is a split review with lots of 5 stars and a few 3 stars (all of which are very correctable).

Here are the 5 stars. The location on the South Shore Rd is great. Access to a private beach is wonderful and unique. The house is roomy and clean. The master suite has a terrific walk in shower. The other 2 bedrooms are quite comfortable as is the large living area. The patio on the side of the house is large and a perfect place to greet the morning. Importantly, the property manager, Gordon is quite responsive to any issue - large and small - that arises. So, it is absolutely a house that I would definitely want to rent again if they would just fix a few things - which leads to the 3 star part of our stay - the small things that make a vacation really great (especially ones that charge a premium price). Specifically, there was no facial tissue in any of the bathrooms and the soap bars in the showers were the small hotel size bar. These my seem minor, but when you fly in and stop at a small grocery to pick up a few food items - the last thing you think you need are facial tissue and bar soap. In addition, the glassware was mostly plastic with all plastic wineglasses. Another reviewer mentioned the wine glasses. A 5 star rental has real glassware - including wine glasses.

So, for now it gets a 4 star rating. Once the things I mentioned are corrected, there is no question it is a 5 star house.

Where Bermuda is Timeless

My wife and I together with another couple spent a glorious week at the Beach House to re-live our separate honeymoons 50 years ago. While the island has changed since 1966/67, the ambience of this property re-creates the lifestyle that we so enjoyed at the start of our marriages. The beach is wonderful in its privacy and its perfect sand and surf. It is only a minute’s walk down a grassy path to the stairway and the uniquely blue water. The house has that timeless feel of comfort, space and graciousness that reflects Bermuda’s allure.

The earlier reviews don’t need to be repeated concerning the amenities and location of the house. Perhaps we can add some assurance about the service aspect of the experience. We had an issue with the phone line to the house likely caused by a lot of telecoms work being done for the America’s Cup. Gordon, the intrepid property manager, set up the repair and offered the wi-fi at his nearby office as internet access in a pinch. He then delivered a gift certificate from the owners for the Swizzle Inn to sooth any residual angst. Now that’s island grace.

One location advantage not mentioned in earlier reviews is the access to Southlands beach, just to the east of Marley Beach by maybe 200 yards. It is broader than Marley and free of any exposed rocks in the water. The entry road is an abandoned driveway but it is a beach open to the public and as pretty as any on the south shore. For hikers, you can go across South Road and go up Rocklands Road to reach the RailTrail and enjoy ocean views and a non-tourist sense of island life as well as some leafy pathways.

Some small steps towards perfection: plastic glasses don’t work for champagne toasts, some swim goggles might be nice, a second beach umbrella would accommodate two couples better. The minor nature of these improvements highlights the overall quality of the The Beach House.
