Ca' del Santo Terrace and Canal View

As featured in The Telegraph online January 2018 - ‘Live like a local: why a holiday apartment is a great option for a Venice city break’ - by Fiona Duncan, Hotel Expert

Reserve Your Ringside Seat for a Bird’s Eye View on Venice…

Presenting one of the most iconic vistas in the entire Serenissima, to be enjoyed from the calm and privacy of your place above the crowds

Occupying a fabulous spot right above the buzzing Riva Degli Schiavoni waterfront between St. Mark’s Square and the Arsenale/Biennale pavilions in the district of Castello, and sharing the long, wide and often sunny promenade with a host of well-known Venice hotels, the newly introduced Ca’ Del Santo sleeps four in comfort on the 4th (top) floor reached by lift.

Moments from the magnificent Church of La Pietà and, for Venice aficionados and foodies, literally steps away from the highly acclaimed Ristorante Al Covo, the apartment is spacious, contemporary and simplicity itself.

Warm cosy wood sets the scene, while accommodation comprises an attractive sitting room with plenty of seating, a desk area, air-conditioning** and glazed doors opening on to the fabulous south-facing furnished terrace; a dining room seating six leading to a compact yet well-equipped kitchen; a simple double bedroom with built-in wardrobes and a French-size bed, and a roomy second bedroom with 2 singles.

The shower room sits just off the sitting room, while the bathroom* next to the double bedroom is decked out entirely in wood and has a small spa bathtub.

A washing machine is also available for added convenience.

*A point on privacy - please bear in mind that this bathroom is only accessible via the double bedroom

OUR COMMENT

A simply styled apartment with an incredible view!

Gaze across the boat-traversed waters of the Bacino di San Marco, taking in a jaw-dropping outlook that stretches all the way from leafy Giardini and the Lido to the east, across to the domes of Santa Maria Della Salute and St. Mark’s Campanile to the west, and the islands of San Giorgio Maggiore and Giudecca to the fore.

Within walking distance of all the world-famous sights of St. Mark’s Square and the San Marco district or, in fascinating contrast, to the beguilingly sleepy backwaters of Castello with its traditional neighbourhood vibe.

A super base to pop back to for a break during the day, and only moments and one bridge away from the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Arsenale for easy travel around the city and to the Lido.

Also handy for the Alilaguna boat stop connecting Arsenale with Venice’s Marco Polo Airport.

Delighted Beyond Belief
Delighted beyond belief with this apartment, terrace & especially the views. We spent a great deal of time appreciating the sweeping panorama, its beauty from dawn until dark, and the bustling activity on the water. Many good restaurants and places of interest less known in this delightful neighbourhood. The lift was most welcome. Cannot wait to return!

Amazing location for stay in Venice
Wow. Increadible views over the lagoon, a short stroll to San Marco, all the buzz of real Venice, lovely comfortable well equipped and (for July in Venice!) air conditioned apartment. Can't wait to revisit. Convenient for the Biennale locations. Brilliant support as always from the wonderful Views on Venice organisation.

Absolutely fantastic
The property surpassed our expectations - it must have one of the best views in Venice !! It was centrally located, near the water-bus station and was fantastic for people watching on the streets below. The bedrooms were well appointed with ample storage and the apartment had clean, modern décor. It was fantastic, can't wait to stay here again !!! The VoV team were superb, meeting us promptly, as arranged and giving us ample information for our stay.

Beautiful View
A very nice, clean and modern apartment, a bit small for 4 people but as we were only two it worked out well. The terrace is a fantastic place to watch the world go by. Location is just far enough from the crowds, but still close enough to be walking distance to everything Venice has to offer. Supermarket and smaller grocery shopping is very close, once you figure out the route. My only complaint would be the wifi is weak in the front of the apartment and doesn't reach the terrace. We will beback!

Comfortable, Spacious, Well-equipped Apartment in a Fabulous Location
The title summarises the apartment concisely. It has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room, kitchen area, dining area, living room and terrace with table and chairs - all comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The apartment sleeps four and offers a luxurious amount of living space for that number and is furnished so as to be comfortable too. Its crowning glory is the terrace reached through glazed doors in the living room. This terrace is also equipped so that it can be enjoyed with a good table and plenty of chairs and there is much to enjoy. The terrace has unobstructed views sweeping over San Giorgio Maggiore and Riva degli Schiavoni which is truly one of the great views of Venice and hard to imagine a better one. The apartment is also located near the Arsenale, one of the loveliest parts of Venice, and close too to the main visitor attractions of St Mark's Square and the Grand Canal. On a more mundane level the apartment is clean, fresh and very well presented with ample furniture and equipment for more than the four people it sleeps. This gives a luxurious feel to the place. It is on the 4th floor of the building reached by a discreet door in one of the quiet calle just off Riva deli Schiavoni and there is a small but welcome lift up to it. It is furnished as you would your own holiday apartment, with equipment that works (including a kettle - important for British visitors but often missing), comfortable and welcoming furniture, a big collection of CDs, books in various languages and interesting pictures and objets that make it all more personal and human. There is very efficient heating too, welcome on colder days. Rather like Mary Poppins, it is Practically Perfect In Every Way

About the host

Hosted by Views On Venice

Host profile image
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice.
The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel.
Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite.
The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
