But don't take our word for it, read what our guests say about us and our cottages.

Richard Smith purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Richard Smith chose Camber

The Beach Boutique was home to us for 6 months when we first moved to Whitesand so it has a special place in our heart.

Its lovely to look out the bedroom window and watch the herons fishing in the pond early in the morning while its misty and also listening to the marsh frogs.

Its not just humans that love staying, we also have house martins that nest during the spring and its wonderful to see them return year after year.

Our cottage has everything you would need for a relaxing holiday and is in a lovely quiet location.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage excels in the winter, snuggle up on the sofa with the fire crackling away with a bottle of wine and listen to the weather going wild outside - magic!

Wonderful House

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our short stay in Camber Sands. Richard was the perfect owner. greeting us when we arrived and chatting to us towards the end of the stay. The house is a delight to stay in with everything you could need, and everything in working order, and a welcoming tray of cake, milk in the fridge and prosseco waiting for us was a lovely surprise. The location is superb, near enough to walk to the local pub and hotel for meals/drinks or a short drive to Rye where you are spoilt for choice of where to eat/drink and what to see. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to and friends/family, and if this is representative of the quality of the properties operated by Richard under the Beside the sea banner, I would have no hesitation whatsoever in renting again.

Thoroughly recommended, congratulations to Richard at Beside the sea Holidays for such a wonderful property and friendly service.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

It was exactly what we needed, a beautifully presented home from home finished with some very thoughtful touches and situated in a great location. The property is just a short stroll from the beach, a few minutes by car from Rye and contains everything you could need for a relaxing stay. We (four adults and a small dog) stayed for three nights but could quite easily have put down roots for longer. Richard and Sophie were extremely kind and helpful both prior to and during our stay. We wouldn't hesitate in going back for another stay!

It's a real home from home

  • 5 of 5

This is my 3rd stay in this property and I absolutely love it. As usual Richard and Sophie were there to make me feel welcome such a personal touch. The property was as usual clean and obviously well maintained and the welcome pack a really nice touch. The property is about a 5minute walk to the beach so you can leave the car at the cottage so no hassle to find parking. You must go into Rye and go to The Standard for a lovely roast dinner. Thanks once again to you both and also lovely to see Oscar and Of course Arthur. With best wishes

The cutest cottage we have ever stayed in!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at this cosy, cute cottage. It had everything we needed for our family of 4 and was better equipped than our own home!! Lovely welcome pack that was very thoughtful and just moments away from the amazing beach. We will be back!

Shocked at first by its tiny size, but for two people it was fine when we found that everything was at our fingertips. Very clean, comfy bed, good dishwasher and washing machine, hopeless dryer. Had to borrow clothes airer from Richard because none in the cottage. Replacement bulb in cupboard provided quickly by Richard. Nice little front deck with table and two chairs. Bathroom shower ok and nice big towels. Two single beds in second bedroom, but door unable to be closed as bed longer than the wall. Lovely beach feel about the cottage and the beach not too far away either.

Excellent place for dogs and families

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. The owners were friendly and the little touches made all the difference like having welcome gifts of prosseco, fresh apple juice, apple crumble cake and macaroons (which were soo good)

The kitchen was fully equipped with everything. There was tea and coffee even milk in the fridge. There were even dog bowls and a high chair. These things make such a difference when travelling from afar.

The property was clean and homely. We would defiantly recommend to everyone as we have already been doing. We look forward to seeing Richard, Sophie and Arthur again.

Book your stay at the Beach Boutique and discover a unique place where the UK’s finest sandy beach meets England’s prettiest town!

In a corner of East Sussex where a monumental battle famously reshaped the nation, boasting a classically beautiful English landscape infused with an epic sense of history.

Camber Sands is one of the UK’s most beautiful sandy beaches and our cottage is perfectly placed to discover the fascinating local history.

Surrounded by the atmospheric sheep studded Romney marsh where the smugglers known as ‘Owlers’ once roamed and the epic beauty of Camber Sands our modern character cottage is perfect for those looking for affordable luxury escape.

The cottage offers easy access to Camber Sands and its huge sandy beach hidden by mountainous dunes and the network of footpaths and cycle routes take you to the medieval town of Rye and the nearby Rye Harbour nature reserve.

With it’s mosaic of habitats beside the sea with shingle, saltmarsh, sand dunes, rivers, pits, grazing marsh, reedbeds and farmland with a bit of history thrown in. Full of wildlife for you to discover with a network of footpaths.

The Beach Boutique is the perfect base to visit the medieval town of Rye. Perched on a hill overlooking the atmospheric marshes, Rye is the perfect place to explore, shop and eat out. Its charming ancient streets are filled with a great selection of independent retailers, restaurants, pubs and a weekly farmers market.

You don’t have to travel far to find beauty, fun and relaxation. Our cottage is set on the border of 1066 Country and The Garden of England, two truly diverse counties, you’ll find classic rural landscapes and beautiful beaches along with ancient history and spectacular gardens – and all within easy reach of London and Continental Europe.

What is 1066 Country?

A landscape of moated castles, steam railways, picturesque seaside towns and steep-cobbled streets, this is 1066 country. Scenes overlayed through the passing centuries that today survive in composite to create the archetypal image of England. An England which, hundreds of years ago, had its fate decided here in this beautiful coastal pocket of East Sussex, where an Norman invasion force successfully landed on these shores and won a famous victory, forging a new nation and forever changed the course of this countries history.

In 1066 Country you’re surrounded by countryside and coastal reaches so abundant with the historical evidence of the past thousand years, it’s impossible to imagine how this country may have evolved had Harold Godwinson, later to become Harold II, the last Anglo-Saxon king, won the battle of Hastings on the 14 October 1066, a date since etched into the national consciousness. As it was, the day and the crown belonged to William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy.

1066 Country Today

Thankfully 1066 country today, ringing with the history of events born from perceived betrayals and false promises, never disappoints its guests. 1066 country offers its visitors a countless array of famous historical sites and crumbling fairytale ruins of ancient castles. Immaculate country houses set in magnificent gardens are scattered across a backdrop of rolling fields dotted with sheep and woodlands intersected with steep-banked lanes that weave their way through tiny hamlets and charming villages. To the south lies the region’s coast, encompassing the towns of Bexhill, Hastings and England’s prettiest town, Rye, cradled to the west by the chalky bolster of the South Downs. This is soon to become a national park and bracing walks along gorse-lined ridges provide sweeping sea views to rival those of the raptors riding lazy circles in the thermals above.

1066 Country Coast

It’s easy to lose hours roaming around the many picturesque 1066 country towns such as Rye. However, when the hill climbing finally takes its toll the perfect antidote lies just a couple of miles away to the edge of 1066 country at the majestic Camber Sands. Here the cobbles and shingle that define the beaches of the south-east coast finally give way to a beautiful broad tract of unspoilt sandy beach and sheltering dunes.
