The Old Vicarage is a very special, luxury self-catering experience in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Positioned high on a secluded hillside, this magnificent country house is surrounded by wooded valleys and rolling pastures. It is set in enclosed spacious grounds and even has its own private stretch of the picturesque River Swale. The views from every room are breathtaking, with stunning panoramic vistas of Swaledale.

Guests also have exclusive use of outstanding private leisure facilities that include a large heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and fully-equipped gym with table tennis and table football. There is also an all-weather tennis court.

With every comfort in mind, The Old Vicarage has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished to create a relaxed yet sumptuous place to stay. Sleeping up to ten people - with five bedrooms, spacious reception rooms and three bathrooms - it is ideal for families and friends who are looking to relax, unwind, re-charge and re-vitalise while exploring this popular holiday area.

Although only a short drive from the historic market town of Richmond with its famous Norman castle, the house itself is set on its own and enjoys perfect peace and tranquility. The only sounds are the calls of the wild birds, the nearby river and occasional conversation of grazing farm animals.

There are numerous walking and cycling routes direct from the doorstep and The Old Vicarage is also perfectly situated to explore the Dales with its many activity opportunities and exciting visitor attractions.

We have had a fantastic weekend. The facilities have been perfect and all 8 of us have felt totally at home here and reluctant to leave and join the 'rat race' again'! The small touches that you have left made us feel very welcome and we can't wait to come back again!

Great property for large family group,

Stayed here for a week in early September with grown up children and their partners. Excellent well equipped property. Leisure facilities are a walk across the fields, but are amazing. Booked massage from the link provided, and that was great. Daughter and her partner even got to help groom the cows

Spacious, very well maintained and equipped

This was a pre-60th birthday celebration for 8 people. We could not fault any aspect of our stay. The property is very spacious and well maintained, ith all the equipment you could possibly need to self-cater. The leisure facilities nearby are simply superb. We received a very comprehensive information pack prior to our visit and we were warmly welcomed on arrival by th owners who live nearby.

Although th property is quite isolated (which is part of its charm for me), Richmond and Catterick are an easy drive and there are several attractive villages nearby. We both ate out and catered in-house; supermarket delivery was available, which was very useful.

Throughout our stay we felt comfortable and relaxed. We had the bonus of unsesaonably excellent weather but as I had not expected this when booking, the importance of the lesiure facilities cannot be overstated, and we were not let down. Quite magificent in scope and design.

Fantastic getaway weekend

The house by far exceeded our expectations, set in rolling countryside with fantastic views. The house is equipped with everything that you need for your stay and is all of a high quality; the welcome hamper is full of local produce and was delicious. We went for local walks in between using the leisure facilities which are second to non and immaculate. We had already agreed to book again for next year before we left! Can't wait!

Brilliant ..Highly Recommend this property

We had a wonderful 7 days. The accommodation was beyond our expectations and the gym/swimming complex was amazing.

The sceanery was so picturesque and well what can we say about the cows and sheep that greeted us when we arrived!

Julie couldn't have been more helpful.

We were a family of 8 ...12 years to 69!! everyone of us had a wonderful time.

There is something to appeal to all ages. Often people book to celebrate a milestone birthday or anniversary in a venue that is luxurious and spacious enough to accommodate everyone comfortably yet also feels homely.

A truly magical place to stay

The Old Vicarage has to be seen to be believed. It is peacefully located in the most beautiful spot with breathtaking panoramic views. Each room is comfortable and luxurious with no expense spared. There were even fresh flowers and a generous food hamper. Nothing was too much trouble for owner Julia and we were made to feel very welcome. The leisure facilities are stunning and we really enjoyed the indoor pool and sauna. Would definitely recommend this beautiful property and the area itself is perfect for a refreshing outdoor holiday. We hope to return soon!

  • The Old Vicarage is very well catered for with three first floor bathrooms and a large downstairs cloakroom with toilet and hand basin. The largest bathroom is beautifully presented with a Victorian-style bath, hand basin, toilet and bidet. It has the added benefit of under floor heating for a particularly cosy feel. There are also a further two modern bathrooms with showers, hand basins and toilets. Plenty of good quality towels and a selection of toiletries such as hand wash, bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizing lotions, cotton wool, tissues and toilet paper are provided with our complements in each bathroom.

Soft pastel walls, high quality linens and colourful throws add to their opulent comfort, with furniture and soft furnishings selected for their eclectic charm. Each bedroom has its own individual 'picture postcard' view of Swaledale whether it's across to the wooded valleys and river or over the gardens and surrounding meadowland. Good quality linen and plentiful soft towels are provided and each bed has a luxury duvet and two pillows per person, with additional cushions and throws.
