About the property

Idyllic log house on the magical mysterious Isle of Anglesey

LLys Hafod is a lovely cosy log house nestled in secluded woodland and hedgerows, set in 8 acres of prime Welsh farmland, on the edge of an "Area of Outstanding Beauty" in Brynsiencyn, South West Anglesey, North Wales, United Kingdom.

LLys Hafod sleeps 4 persons in two bedrooms - one large king size bedroom and one twin bedded room.

Accessed by a private gated entrance and driveway, our little log house is the perfect "home from home "destination. We have tried to think of all the little touches to make your stay that bit special - from the "Hootons Homegrown " Farm shop Welcome Basket goodies - locally sourced bacon, eggs, sausages and homebaked cakes and treats.

Set on its own , in a young broadleaf woodland, the nearest neighbours are the woodland and farm animals and birds.

Anglesey is said to have been the last stronghold of the Druids. Indeed Brynsiencyn translated means "Jenkins hill". It is said to have been a focus area of druid worship. There are multiple standing stones and burial chambers in our local 5 mile area.

We celebrate our celtic connections starting at our gateway entrance with the symbol of the Triquetra which for us symbolises the unity of spirit, mind and body. A state we wish for our guests after having spent a relaxing holiday break with us in our perfect seclusion.

About Dr Gaynor Lloyd-Davies

Hello we are Lloyd-Davies family, mother Gaynor and son Alastair plus array of animals- horses, dogs and cats. We have lived in our house since 1995.i work full time and Ali is studying chemistry at university.

I have been running Llys Hafod (LH) as a self catering property since 2005. LH is an extension of our home and I built it on our land in 2004 in dedication to my mum who was a great homemaker and loving welcoming person. I'm passionate about giving my guests a relaxing home from home holiday experience. That's why I pay attention to all the little details which I believe make the special difference,

Why Dr Gaynor Lloyd-Davies chose Anglesey

I was born and brought up in Anglesey. I lived and worked abroad for many years, but when it came to making a home, I was drawn back to Anglesey. I love the stunning scenery, the peace and quiet and the sense of ancient history, myth and legend of this island.

What makes this cabin unique

We are nestled in a truly lovely corner of the magical mystical Isle of Anglesey, very close to the Menai Straits. the perfect place to explore North Wales.

Lovely location

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was beautiful, great location, hidden away in the woods. It was quiet and peaceful and very relaxing. We also received some food items like milk, bread, bacon etc along with some cakes and biscuits for the children which was a really nice touch. The decor is lovely and it is very well stocked. The only downside was that it felt dusty, outside on the veranda cobwebs and dust littered the chairs and decking. Inside it also felt a little dusty - a natural problem from it being a log cabin I guess. The toilet also had some stains in, from not being used much I think as the cabin uses a septic tank, but it would've been nice to have it clean for our arrival! The bed and pillows were also very hard, but that could be us used to our soft mattress! Overall a lovely stay, just spoiled by a few minor niggles.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. It is appreciated. I am sorry that you had some issues. Again sincere apologies. We try hard to provide a 5 star experience for our guests so sorry to have failed you on this occasion and be relegated to 4 stars ( our 2nd out of 37 reviews given ) . Your dogs looked super cute when we met on Sunday morning , when you kindly dropped off the keys - glad the special waiver to our "No pets policy " and dispensation for bringing your dogs along with the family was appreciated.

Great place to use as base for exploring Snowdonia

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to stay for a weekend break which included a hike up Snowdon. Gaynor was helpful throughout the experience right from initial booking to sending helpful instructions in finding the place. There was a lovely hamper of goodies waiting on our arrival along with local baked cakes! The property itself is very cosy and peaceful set in its own woodland grounds with all mod cons including an extensive DVD collection! It is ideal for exploring the surroundings including Snowdon, being less than 30 min drive from Llanberis the most popular starting point for climbs up the mountain. It's also about 30 min drive to South Stack lighthouse on the other side of the island. Well worth a visit. Transport links are excellent with the North Wales Expressway giving fast access to most places. Would definitely like to visit again. Thanks for a great stay!

Owner's Response: Thanks very much for choosing to stay with us. We know there are many accommodation options in the area. Thank you also for making time to provide some insight and highlights. It was great to meet you and your lovely family. I greatly admire you for the Snowdon ascent. I bet you all slept well Sunday evening when you got home. All the best G

Just what we needed!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed here and it is just as we remembered. Perfect log cabin surrounded by trees. It just makes you feel like you've got away. The kids loved it too. It's so close to family attractions and Gaynor is really helpful and goes out of her way to help. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had searched for a log cabin to stay in for a few days with our son, daughter in law and grandson. All the other so called log cabins seemed to be more like static caravans with wood cladding. Llys Hafod is the real thing and truly is like something out of a fairy tale! It is very well equipped with everything you need and more. Wish we could have stayed longer but hopefully we will be back. We enjoyed all the goodies that Gaynor left for us, very much appreciated. The sea zoo is very close and we found it well worth a visit. There are so many things to do on Anglesey so we need to come back to do what we didn't have time for on this trip!
