Fantastic place

  • 5 of 5

We had a hen weekend with 10 people and there was loads of room with lots of different spaces available for some to recover while the rest could play. The house is amazing. Comfy beds, lots of nice walks and beautiful gardens - would love to visit again

Newbattle family gathering

  • 5 of 5

This was a great home from home, slightly quirky, with extensive history.

Perfect location for an extended family holiday, in our case close to Melville Castle Hotel for a family wedding.

Barry, the owner was on hand to greet us on arrive and give us some tips and history of the property.

Enough off-road parking for 6 cars, well manicured lawn, large conservatory and walking distance to Dalkeith, there are extensive walking /running trials on the doorstep

We were all please we chose this poperty

Great weekend away with the girls

  • 4 of 5

8 of us stayed for a weekend at the beginning of june. The house was enclosed in beautiful gardens. It was like a tardis on the inside with lots of rooms and space which was comfortable for all of us. We kept loosing each other on the first night! Kitchen well equipped if you were wanting to cook.

The large luving room was brilliant for us to chill out with a few bottles of fizz.

We wished we had more time at the house but we had lots pf plans in edinburgh for the weekend. The local taxi firm were brilliant and as we booked in advance the rates were better. The taxis were also ALWAYS ON TIME and the drivers were lovely!

We had a few bathroom issues which were due to previous users of the accommodation barry had offered to come outto fix however due to our ahort period of time at the house we managed with the other bathrooms.

Lovely house.and a lovely weekend would stay again!

Beautiful house, Accomodating helpful owner

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house for my friends hen do - she loved it! It is a great size for a large group, with Edinburgh centre a short drive away. The surrounding area has some lovely walks, and there is a fab gastro pub near by.

Barry, the owner, couldn't have been more accommodating. He kindly let us hire a hot tub for our short stay which all of the guests thoroughly enjoyed. The house itself has a lot of character and is well equipped with garden chairs, a large supply of pretty cocktail glasses (which we used a lot), a Nespresso machine, blender, etc. The large drawing room was perfect for chilled girly nights in. The garden is private, with no houses overlooking it, and provides a nice space for outdoor games and BBQs. Barry was also very knowledgeable of the surrounding area, and has some great ideas for activities/day trips that are a walkable distance or a short car journey away.

The property was clean. I would recommend this property, and hope to stay again.

Breathtaking property with unique features and easy access to Edinburgh city centre

  • 5 of 5

A group of us recently stayed here when looking for a suitable base to enjoy the fringe festival. From a practical point of view, we had no issues arranging taxis into the city with the local companies able to get 3 cars to us within about 15mins. It took us about 20minutes to get to the centre despite the heavy traffic from the festival.

The property is genuinely breathtaking with more space than could be reasonably occupied by 10 people. Tasteful and comfortable with an amazing galleried landing and a large secluded lawn.

The group and I would have no hesitation in recommending the property to any others wanting to enjoy Edinburgh as a family or large group.
