The flat was exactly as advertised. The check in was easy, my son loved the roof top pool, the AC was great, but something's underwhelmed. The pool was not heated, it appears this is normal in Lagos, and not an issue for sunbathers, but not what I expected. The wifi was slower than 2G. For many not an issue, but I needed it for work. The bed was extremely hard; again something that is guess is normal based on my next stay, but made for poor sleep.

Overall I am happy with my stay, just something's to set expectations

Comfortable and clean apartment, located very close to the beach

The gentleman who greeted us on arrival was friendly and helpful. He gave us some quick pointers about the area and Lagos, which helped us settle in very quickly.

I would recommend avoiding the welcome/starter kit. We had selected it just to have some basic supplies on arrival, but with supermarkets being opened late daily (9pm, some stores up to 11pm), it's much more cost effective to just do a bit of shopping on arrival.

The apartment looked just like in the pictures posted online. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. It had a single see-through shower (not shown on the pics). Neighborhood is quiet at night. There's a pool on the roof, but with the beach so close, we never used it. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk from the place. The beach was very clean and not too crowded (unlike Praia da Rocha beach, which we visited once). The kids loved the sea shells along the shore. Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

The place is located a short drive away from Lagos, a charming city with friendly people. For supplies, a Pingo Doce store can be found 5 minutes away (by car). Ponta da Piedade provided beautiful views of the coastline.

Lagos is a lively family friendly holiday resort with many bars, restaurants and shops. There are many lovely sandy beaches including many people's favourite...the famous and popular Meia Praia beach.

Find many water sports on the Meia Praia sandy beach (sailing, scuba diving, kayaking, water skiing, wind and kite surfing and many more). There are numerous excursions available including:

• boat trips round the stunning grotos/cavesand beautiful coastline, dolphin watching and fishing

• Lagos Zoo and various waterparks

• coach trips to picturesque Silves, Monchique, Sagres or Cape St Vincent the western most point of Portugal.

For wine lovers there are several vineyards in the area worth a visit eg Quinta do Frances Winery near Silves, Quinta dos Valles at Estombar. For those who enjoy being active on holiday there are coastal walks, horse riding, cycling and go karting available locally. Golf is available at Palmares Golf course (1km), Boavista Golf Course (4km) and many more.

The apartment has easy access to public transport (car hire not essential):

• Bus stop is steps away

• Train station 10 minutes walk near Lagos Marina - an easy 15 min/1km walk
