Very friendly
Friendly and helpful hosts. Clean and pleasant property with nice views from the deck. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain so didn’t really get to enjoy the deck. Has off road parking but parking area and outside would benefit from a tidy up. We had a few issues with the tv signal but hope George and Lia have sorted that by now.

Very relaxing place to stay
This holiday property is very comfortable and clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The view from the property is great, looking accross the canal to see the wildlife, and watching the boats go by.

Perfect place to stay for a blend of city and countryside
Like others before us, we had a lovely time in George and Lia's cottage. It had everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable, including a very comfortable bed and the lovely deck in front of the canal complete with ducks and ducklings, horses, birds and general quiet. Once we had got the hang of the bikes without gears or brakes (the latter done by back pedalling) we enjoyed cycling to the bus stop - never waiting more than 5 mins for a bus to Amsterdam or Marken, as well as cycling ot Marken and around the pretty Broek in Waterland village - all so safe and easy and not a helmet in sight. There is so much to do that the week flew past. Zaans Schans (an easy trip by bus and return by tram from Amsterdam) and the Zuider Zee museum are well worth a visit for those wanting to experience something outside the city. We also went to the more unusual museums - 'Our Lord in the Attic' and the Dutch Resistance Museum both of which gave a sense of life in Amsterdam/ the Netherland past and more recent. Thanks for a great time.

Beautiful canal-side property.
A lovely week spent in George & Lia's cottage. We had everything we needed & the use of bicycles was an added bonus!Evenings were spent on the decking, overlooking the canal & a trip to Amsterdam on the local bus was straightforward using the Ov-Chipcards that George & Lia kindly allow their guests to use. The cottage was spacious & well equipped & we especially liked the shower/wetroom.A truly relaxing stay & great base for touring Laag Holland. We look forward to returning in the future,

Great location and great view of the waterlands
Our hosts were great and really helpful. Getting to Amsterdam is easy on the bus and we never waited more than a few minutes, there or back, the bus drops you at the central station, you can down load the GBV app which was really helpful for travel connections. For non Dutch folks reading this you can only add funds to the travel clip cards that Lia and George can lend you in Amsterdam using chip and pin, but once you get the hang of it it is easy and under 3 euros each way. There is lots to do in the area we went to Marken and Volendam which are both very near and are historic fishing villages, where they also make clogs at Markam and Cheese at Volendam. Zaanse Schans was great about industry and history where you can see loads of windmills. Its free to look around but you pay if you go into any of the museums, this is also quite near. Kkeukenhof gardens its a 40 min drive but with a sat nav quite straight forward and whilst only open for 8 weeks a year is fantastic especially the orchids. Also we went to the Zuiderzee museum further afield but if you want to see historic dutch buildings its the place to go. Also we went to Haarlem to see the Ten Boom 'hiding place' which was very moving, and the big church where Frans Hals is buried. There are loads of local safe cycle ways and we would have like to use the bikes more but ran out of time. We do feel that there is more to do but maybe for another visit, a big thanks to our hosts.
