The Sundial is a beautiful iconic Grade II Listed Arts and Crafts house

situated on the sea front in Lyme Regis overlooking the Cobb and harbour

with stunning panoramic views across Lyme Bay taking in

Golden Cap, Portland and the Jurassic Coast.

The mesmerising views and glorious light serve to

enhance a lovely house which is as special and iconic as its

setting. Listed Grade II as being of Significant Architectural

Importance and Historic Interest, there is a wealth of charming

period detail, from the window catches, stonework, to the

beautiful and unique plaster ceiling motifs, a particular feature

of the house.

There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. A kitchen with a

Amazing house in unbeatable location; upkeep could be improved on

In terms of bricks and mortar, this house is in many ways unbeatable: a stunning historic building just yards from the beach. However, it's not inexpensive, and for the price I did feel towels should be included, along with adequate cleaning materials (don't love having to buy bin liners, washing-up liquid, dish cloths etc while on holiday). A few cosmetic upgrades could also make a big difference (blinds in the kids' bedroom were damaged; several light bulbs needed replacing; terrace clearly hadn't been swept for months, etc). A little bit more attention to detail could make a big difference!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the valuable feedback. We usually leave out cleaning materials, bin liners and loo roll but something must have gone wrong here? Most rental companies in Lyme Regis charge extra for towels but I agree this should be included which is why you haven't been charged for them. Other items will be attended to by our handy man.

Lovely seafront stay

Weekend with friends to celebrate a birthday. Beautiful location and well equipped. Amazing coastal and sea views from each of the front rooms. Great selection of eateries, shops and walks close by (we went to River Cottage HQ for a farmhouse dinner which was well worth it). The location and the visual impression of this building make it very memorable. I'm not sure you could get closer to the sea!

Five ladies on their annual weekend away in Lyme Regis

The Sundial is a very unusual house. It has lots of character and catered for all our needs. Five bedrooms - very comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen.

There are stunning views across the bay. The outside seating area was used at every opportunity.

Lyme Regis is a lovely old fashioned seaside town with lots to do for all age groups. We would recommend the French Lieutenant 's Bistro in Lyme and The Riverside Restaurant in West Bay for dinner. Should you want a stunning ice cream Millie's is the place.

We would certainly return.

A beautiful property in a fantastic location

Such an interesting property, one that draws you in from its stunning facade. The views from the front rooms of the sea are beautiful. A wise place to put the kitchen on the first floor to enable you to see the sea from the kitchen table - a lovely sociable room to spend time altogether.

A pleasant walk from the town centre makes this a perfect place to stay for a short break.

A wonderful family get together and celebration

We loved staying in the iconic Sundial and it was the perfect setting for a large family party. The weather lent a hand and we woke each day to the view of perfect skies over an empty beach.

A lovely place in my favourite Seaside town

We had the whole family down for a few days to rediscover the Lyme Regis of my childhood. The house is wonderful and eccentric. We loved it and will return. Right on the marine parade. Wonderful views from the front rooms.
